  • The weather can also be rather unpredictable, and forecasts change frequently. The residents are generally very friendly, we're a very polite town.

Hi from someone who has lived in alamosa before and has family down there, it’s probably a good idea to check out more than alamosa east and drive down the Main Street where we have plenty of locally owned restaurants! There is a great college there and nice golf course with some new houses being built. The new housing development by the high school is also something to look at. Yes there are bad spots of town, every town has them but choosing to look at only those and then call it a desert hood is kinda pathetic. If you would like a tour I got you. Bet you didn’t check out the sand dunes, alligator farms, Zapata falls (which you can ice climb in the winter when the waterfall freezes). Everyone there are very nice people and deserve a lil respect

Alamosa is incredible ya'll....Has the largest water aquifer in the US. Very rich in natural resources. Very safe place to live. Cold AF in the winter.

Being from Alamosa, I haven't laughed this hard in awhile 😂. Desert hood. I'm going to use that.

Yeah, you missed half the town, you missed the University, the more expensive neighborhoods etc. If you come into town the way you left, Alamosa looks like an oasis in the desert. I'm sure you noticed that Northern New Mexico is even more barren and poor. The reason town was dusty and windy is because in the spring the wind blows like mad.

I’m from Alamosa born and raised. Wonderful people, amazing food, and beautiful memories.

I lived in Alamosa for my undergraduate degree at Adams State. I miss it and wish I could go back. :\. I went during the pandemic, so there wasn't a lot going on, but that also gave me lots of alone time to check out the town and surrounding areas.

Did you miss the other towns getting there? These folks are born and raised in these towns. I came from city life to live in SF we go to Alamosa for groceries. You missed half town. It's pretty shity to go to a small town and talk all this mess. I can't believe this coming from Hispanic guy just go back to Miami.

Lol. These guys missed the whole town. They cruised only the East side.

  • @TheBenrogue

Dude you drove around the Loaf N' Jug and one neighborhood in East Alamosa to open the video, and then drove over a bridge and said, "Oh, there's a river here." Yeah, it's called the Rio Grande. Guess you didn't do much research, huh? You should have gone into The Pig and met some folks. It's a solid community with a rich and rough history. That's what the San Luis Valley is.

It's really unfortunate that you went through the wrong part of town. The river you went by while going over the bridge is the Rio Grande. You also missed the Great Sand Dunes National Park. Alamosa is a small town though that's for sure. The Mexican food is absolutely excellent, and if you happen to like Chinese or sushi, the best damn sushi in the state is at Hunan's.

A very deeply rooted New Mexican Hispanic community (Very few are immigrants), -neat little town really!

  • @billm5433

I grew up in East Alamosa. Left in 68 and only came back to visit my family. I’ve been fortunate to have traveled to 67 different countries and 6 of the 7 continents. I was in Germany and someone I met there knew where Alamosa was. Small world.
