  • Just off Panagsama Road in Moalboal, we hopped into the ocean and immediately saw a turtle! Then, about 30 metres from the beach, we got to witness the magical sardine shoals.

    Well, you're in the country that is one of the best, if not the best, place to learn freediving, and I think also one of the most affordable. So if you have the time, then I would highly highly suggest that you go for it. Only a very small percentage of all people can do it, but It's a really great skill to learn and to have, especially for people who love to travel and explore in many different countries, and love exploring the waters or the oceans most.

      Yes, we really need to learn to freedive! It's such a good skill.

    Enjoy your stay and Adventures over there. Thank God it’s not crowded. Over the past few weeks, thousands of U.S. military troops, vehicles and equipment have started to arrive in the Philippines to use the 9 Military bases all over the country. I can just imagine how many more of them would be going to the tourist spots during their R and R.

    Cebu is a beautiful island to dive! I loved it there when I was in the military. Did you check out the monument to king Lapu Lapu who killed Ferdinand Magellan? Also, when you snorkel/free dive, remove the snorkel from your mouth after you inhale. It will allow you to stay down much longer and properly equalize. When you return to surface put it back in.

    • @onceuponaglobe
      @onceuponaglobe  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, I missed the monument! That would have been great to see. Also, great tip for freediving- that sounds like a gamechanger.

      @@YYC403NOYP LOL, I got out of the Marines in 1995, and was in Cebu in 1994 during the 50th Anniversary of the Leyte Gulf commemoration. We spent several month in the Philippine Islands. I was also there in 92 after Mt. Pinatubu erupted to provide humanitarian aid. The PI are a magical place filled with rich culture and beautiful people. I hope to visit again one day.

    Did you snorkel anywhere else around Moalboal? We are wondering how much time to spend there.

    • @onceuponaglobe
      @onceuponaglobe  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We didn't snorkel anywhere else around Moalboal, no. There's a nice beach about a 10 minute tricycle ride away, but not much to see snorkelling-wise there. I've heard there's more snorkelling closer to Moalboal town, but didn't see it myself. If I were to do the trip again, I would spend maybe 3 nights in Panagsama Beach (which is where the Sardine Run beach is).

      Hey mate. It was early enough; about 11:00AM. A lot of tour groups get there around lunchtime so we got there for 10:00AM to be done before they showed up.
