Souvenirs of OAXACA, MEXICO
I go on a mission through downtown Oaxaca City as we explore the vibrant Centro Histórico and discover some of the best Oaxacan souvenirs. From bustling markets to charming local shops, this walk showcases the incredible variety of handmade crafts and traditional Mexican folk art that Oaxaca is known for.
I wander through the colourful aisles of the famous Benito Juárez Market, where you’ll find a rich collection of alebrijes-intricately painted wooden animal figurines that are a hallmark of Oaxacan artistry. Along the way, we also explore unique handcrafted ceramics, beautifully designed pottery, and a selection of hand-embroidered clothing that highlights the region’s rich textile heritage. For those seeking something truly special, we also take a closer look at loom-woven rugs, a timeless craft that represents Oaxaca’s indigenous culture.
No trip to Oaxaca would be complete without experiencing its world-renowned mezcal. In this video, we explore a variety of locally produced mezcal options, offering a taste of this traditional Oaxacan spirit. Additionally, the video features locally made jewelry, including one-of-a-kind earrings crafted by skilled artisans.
I was looking for authentic Oaxacan souvenirs, and wanted to learn more about the region’s folk art.
