Thank you for reviewing a documentary that is so important to us Cypriots for everyone to watch. Your review did make me cry, when you mentioned the Cypriots spoke about what happened like it was yesterday and the part where you touched on generational trauma. I'm 28 years old, I have in no way gone through the war like my grandparents, their siblings, their parents, my parents, aunts, uncles, etc... but I feel it as deeply as they do and I carry it with me everyday, as do my friends that I have made in the wider Cypriot community. I just want the world to hear us and understand that we were used in many ways and pitted against each other by various forces, including ones that are allegedly our allies. I hope, at least in my timeline, we see a solution, because I want to go back to my beautiful island and I don't want to have to travel long and wait in lines to see my friends from the other side. I want to be able to be literal neighbours without the borders, insallah. Thank you again. Not everyone talks about us with the sensitivity that you do.
This comment made me so happy. Everyone interviewed mentioned how prior to the division Cypriots were seen as one. It didn’t matter who was Turkish or Greek. I think there is something to be said about how the British are able to use divide and conquer to advance their own interests. It’s crazy they still have military bases on the island. I hope more people watch the documentary. Cyprus is small but has the potential to ignite a fire we may not be able to put out.
Thank you for the review. The documentary portrays some of our activists working towards that end and there are many others working on the ground despite the obstacles. Regardless of the obstacles and negative narratives, as pro-peace Cypriots, we will continue to side with dialogue, reason and compassion. We need to build a peaceful future for the generations to come and set a positive examples for all those areas hit by conflict.
Is there a link for that documentary? I have to agree with you that lack of accountability did not heal the Cyprus trauma and allowed the 'eye for an eye ' mentality to flourish. I truly believe though is that the majority of the Greek and Turkish Cypriots did not wish to be part of this turmoil but unfortunately the situation got in the hand of extremists.

I've lived on both sides of the border on and off since 2003. Very much looking forward to seeing this. 🎉. Please let us have the link when it's out
@angelafromnci4626 I will !
The majority of people were innocent on both sides. We are the same people, same culture and have the same customs.
