Greetings from Australia. I agree 100% with everything you said. I am still using Sony and Canon as my work cameras but I decided to purchase a Q3 last year as my personal, EDC camera. I absolutely love the Q3. The ease of use, the image quality, the lens. Everything about this camera makes me want to use it every day. I sometimes just handle the camera in my hands while editing a job. If I have to sell all my gear and keep just one, it would be the Q3. This camera has rekindled my love for personal photography. When you work in the industry, photography becomes a job and not a hobby or love anymore and so I never ever take a camera with me on holidays or when travelling as it is a work tool and so the other cameras stay home until a job calls for their use. The Q3, travels with me daily. It is ' My Life Camera '. Thanks for making this video.
Thank you so much for your comment!! When I had my photography business I used my Canon and I just missed so much the simple enjoyment that I had in the beginning. With the Q3 I feel like a child and a pro photographer that is so much fun! Again thank you for the support here it means a lot to me in the new channel:-)
Nice job! Thank you! I purchased the Q3 here in the states this summer, my Q3 was manufactured a month earlier in Germany.🇩🇪 I Like my Leica😊 …. and Nice work with your english…Thanks again🙋♂️
Very well done and to the point. I'm a Leica and Nikon shooter and I have to add that the two systems complement each other very well - for my purposes. For swooping peregrine falcons I would never take the Q3, but for street photography at any light condition the Q3 rules supreme. The colour rendering, the compact size and the phantastic sensor are the highlights of this small technical marvel.
@@gletschertroll Thank you so much for your comment! My first camera was a Nikon that belonged to my grandfather and I will always love that system colour science for that. When I bought the Q3 I had to sold all of my gear but I hope that in the future I will buy another Nikon because as you said it's a great combination :-)
Great video Gefen and really great to hear your opinions on the Q3. I myself have the Q2 and the Q2 monochrome and adore both of them. Great review of the stunning Q3. After looking for a holiday and daily use camera I bought the D Lux 8. I really appreciate the simple menu layout, and the small form factor.
So, I had almost the same journey. I had a Canon R5 and several lenses, which spent far too long in the camera bag and not being used. Instead of the Ricoh I bought a X100v which I took everywhere and really enjoyed. I decided to sell the X100V and all my Canon kit and bought the Q3 - and I am really pleased with my decision. Very rarely do I miss the Canon (mainly my super wide angle or 400 zoom for a particular shot). Thanks for he video, good luck with the channel and you English is fine, totally clear.
Thank you so much for your comment! I also had the x100v for about a month before I sold it and got the richo griii (I figured that in a similar price and similar sensor I prefer the smaller gr so I will carry it everywhere). And yes, the zoom focal length like the 400 is a bit sacrificing but the Q3 if really special :-) Again, thank you for your kind words and sharing!

I’ve not got a Q3; but I keep asking myself what I want and need from a camera; something compact and not intrusive, a camera that will allow me to shoot landscapes and single flowers without changing lenses, and a camera that will allow me to really ‘slice and dice’ an image to get different shots from the one images. Thank you so much for your comment! It means a lot to me.. I think that if I could ask for only one change in the Q3 , so she can be perfect as you said, is to make her somehow smaller like the Ricoh 😅 but this camera is so amazing so it is forgivable.. thank you for subscribing!
Thanks for the great review from my favorite city, looking forward for more! :) I’m gonna stick with my Fujifilm X-E4 though, but I enjoy it very much to watch about other gear.
The Q3 is a God-tier camera. I have no regrets buying one. My only complaint is that the video is quite limiting tbh. Still, it really is the Giga Chad of Street Photography cameras. If you're thinking of getting one, try the Fuji X100VI first. If you dig the quality and want more, get the Q3. Btw good video and great English. 👌
Thank you so much for your kind comment! I actually had the Fujix100v for about a month but the sensor size it to small for my cropping and I just didn't connect to it unfortunately so I sold it.. Now after 8 months of having the Q3 I'm really happy with it :)
Congratulations on your new channel! I had the Q2 and sold it for the hasselblad X2D which is the best camera I've ever used for picture quality and cropping but it is heavy and very difficult to buy the new lens. I would definitely like to try the Q3 with the higher sensor and flip out screen which was always lacking in the Q2. I found the 28 mm lens a little bit restrictive and spent a long time always cropping every picture to achieve the right composition as I am always so used to a zoom lens with the Sony system. Good luck with your channel and keep posting videos!
@@mrtony3729 thank you so much for your comment Tony! I agree with you, and for me the Q3 60mpx makes up for the 28mm that I wasn't used to. Now got used to that focal length but still cropping a lot of my photos in Lightroom. I'm just working on my next video, again thank you so much for your kind comment :-)
I had a Q2 and recently got an X2D with 38V. The field of view is very similar to the Leica, but of course it's a Hasselblad and the colors, flexibility and dynamic range are better. With the 38v, I find the camera pretty light and very manageable. The build quality and comfort of the X2D is on another level compared to the Leica - I can't imagine replacing it with a Q3, as nice as it is.
I understand why people would want those extra buttons but for me personally it is part of the Leica experience of the simplicity :-) Thank you for the comment!
Great video, thank you. I shoot Canon R5 now and Fuji XT5/X100v but I'm looking at the Q3. I looked at the Q2 but didn't bite, then been coveting the Q3 since launch... the cost is my biggest barrier. It's made worse now the 43mm version has been leaked... argh... decisions decisions lol.
I didn't have any problems in the last 8/9 months of a lot of using.. I heard that also about the Ricoh camera that I had and didn't have any issues there too. I think you should be just as careful as you can and it will be alright :-) Thank you for asking here!!
Congratulations to your first review. Maybe you should work on tone quality with a dedicated microphone. I bought my Q3 four weeks ago coming from a Sony A7iv and some lenses more on the wide end. So I can handle the 28 mm lens on the Leice without compromising and love the ability to crop as far as needed with the 60 mp sensor in the Q3. Since today I have no regrets buying the Leica and love it so far. The only thing to complain about is the quality of the autofocus system compared to the Sony. For architecture and dedicated landscape work or portraits I will stick with my Sony gear, but the Q3 will go with me most of the time.
@@safesurfer1965 thank you so much for your comment and notes! I will absolutely improve my audio quality, I didn't noticed that until I started editing the video :-) I agree with you very much that the autofocus is not compatible with other companies nowadays. I had the Canon R5 and the autofocus was incredible! Never had a Sony but I heard that it's even better than the Canon system. Luckily for me, my style of photography doesn't require fast focus and most of the time a do it manually. Thank you again for your thoughts here :-)
One thing that stops me upgrading from Q2 is the high MP, my Q2 is very disappointing at high ISO’s in low light, is the Q3 any better? Thanks for sharing
@@victorcarmelo8606 thank you for your comment! I had the same concern before switching to the Q2, my Canon r5 has already 45mpx and I was afraid that this will limited me if the sensor will be 60. But I can tell you it's never limited my night photography or made my photos too grainy. I will post a night photography review in the next weeks and show some examples both edited and not so you could see :-) Again, thank you for asking here!
@@iGefen thank you for your reply, perhaps I have been reading to much into many people claiming “24mp is enough and perfect for low light shots”, thanks again and look forward to your night review video.
Love your images. You did a wonderful review in English. I am curious if whether you and concerns about buying a camera with a flip screen in the rear? That is a concern of mine. I worry about the breakage of moving parts. Please share your thoughts. Thanks

Hi,I went to Spain last month and I made a mistake bringing with me my FujiFilm XT100VI. I have my Leica Q3 and I loved it, big difference in image quality between both. I regretted not bringing it with me to Spain.😢
Hi i just bought the 43 and whilst i still have to process all the possibilities that it has to offer, i am already rejoicing over the image quality even in JPEG.
Hi. Like your message from this video. Feel that your decision and step to choose this cam is right for You. In the moment I also think about the dlux8. Like your pictures. Bye
I have a Q3 after coming from the Sony A7iv and 35mm GM... I have had a love hate relationship with it to be honest.... The lens is less sharp than the GM which i miss, and the autofocus is miles behind. I miss the Sony... But, like you, could feel the attention i would get carrying it around. The Q3 is beautifully compact and i carry it everywhere... But I wanted a camera i could keep for years.. i am not sure if this is it. Im underwhelmed mostly, which is not something you expect after spending 6k! It does make me want to take pictures, which is a huge bonus, but it is not good enough at the price point. The A7iv with gm lens shoots a better image, minus the leica colours. But if you shoot in raw you get that also. Plus the oversampled 4k on the 7IV is cleaner and crisper than the 8 k on Leica (which is prone to artifacts) and the IV has incredible autofocus.. Too many flaws at its price point, but i cant let it go for some reason. I will watch your chanel to help me decide. You take beautiful pictures. Nicely done. Sorry for the rant. My wife rolls her eyes if i mention cameras...
Amazing timing I find your video, and that helpful thank you. Same as you did I shoot on the R5 and I mostly use the 70-200mm but I need to find something a lot lighter as I have problems with my hands and it becomes difficult to handle the weight of the Canon. My question is, as you said you usually use the 100mm, do you miss the longer focal you had on the R5? Or does the crop capability of the camera really compensate for it?
Thank you so much for your comment!! I definitely don't miss the longer focal length because the cropping I can do now with the 60mpx is more than enough. The quality of the Q3 with the sharpness of that 1.7 lens really something else and I'm so happy with that switch. Of course it was a very expensive decision but for me it is an incredible change. I also used the 600mm canon lens at the time for birds photography but it became really hard to carry that for photo shoot days and I wanted to just take photos everyday.. it took time to get use to the different focal point but the challenge was fun for me :) I hope your hand will heal soon and I think that the Q2/Q3 is a very good solution for carrying issues
@@iGefen Thank you a lot for your answer it really helped me. Honestly, the only thing that holds me back is the fear of missing my 70-200 witch my favorite lens and the one I use most of the time. But it reassure me especially as you are not the only one to tell me the same thing. And thanks for your kind words, sadly with my hand problem there is no healing, it's just time, bad bones, and joints. but thank you again a lot.
This was very helpful, thank you! I just put my name on a waiting list for a Q3 today, though I'm still wondering if I should really make the big leap. I'm especially wondering if it's hard to get used to the in-camera cropping instead of actually being able to zoom in with a lens when composing a shot. Was that hard to get used to not being able to zoom? Do you find yourself cropping on the screen before you hit the shutter, or do you shoot a big wide shot and then worry about cropping only later? Thanks for any thoughts!
@@briankimballkay Thank you so much for your comment!! I hope you will get your Q3 as fast as possible and I'm sure you will love it. The cropping is really incredible and I personally like to take the wide shot knowing I will crop later in Lightroom. But If you use raw file, unlike me- you can crop while taking the photo and you will still have the whole 28mm in post editing. You will see that in cropping at Lightroom. (I hope I was clear:) I will post more videos soon with explanations on the Q3 and if you will have any other questions I would love to answer them! Again thank you for the comment..
I’ve heard that the batteries aren’t up to the task, especially at that price, and neither is the EVF. Can you please share your experience with these issues? Thanks!
@@swaspc7618 I will mention that in my next video on the Q3 but overall yes, the battery in good only for about 5/6 hours. And it's really hard to buy a new battery in some countries (I still use one ). But you can charge it through USBC which is nice and for me personally I never really needed the second battery that much. The EVF is not good like other systems but you get used to it and for me it's worth the Leica's colours and other advantages very much. Thank you again for your comment and I will talk about those questions in my next review :-)
I have a Q2 and an M11. I take better pictures with the Q2 rather than my M11. The M11 is a beautiful camera with amazing picture quality but I find myself having to force myself to use it rather than the Q2. I bought the M11 because when used with a small lens it’s more compact than a Q2. Personally, I almost always crop my photos, sometimes massively, and I’ve never found the 47 megapixel sensor in the Q2 to constrain cropping compared to the 60MP of the M11. Do you use the hinged rear screen often? That’s the only reason I would upgrade, although I’d need to trade my M11 to afford one.
Think a Sony a7CR achieves pretty much the same results at a way lower price point. Of course, everyone’s experience and way of doing things, decision making criteria are different. For me Sony’s autofocus can’t be beat
@@jplimages thank you so much for your kind comment!! I would love to see your Q3 photos too :-) my instagram is gefenroseweiss , I will follow back. Thanks again !
I own Leica q2 not q3. It’s too expensive to upgrade. I love the q2 but love q3 even more. I would definitely be looking into upgrading to q3 but not any sooner. Thanks for the review.
@@BTNFILM thank you for your comment! I think that if I already had the q2 I wouldn't upgrade too.. the Q2 is just as amazing with some nice changes for the Q3 :-)
@@iGefen my first dslr camera was Nikon. It was a cropped censored so I switched to Sony mirrorless which was an amazing camera but then like you mentioned having to carry tons of lenses for each purpose. It was getting too expensive to purchase different lenses. So I decided like you. I sold all my camera, lenses, gimbal, lens filters etc and bought Leica q2. I made the right decision by switching to Leica and believe it or not, now I feel pro when I hold my Leica 😀. Am jealous that you have q3 😂
Why are you showing two different cameras in the video? I noticed that the three control buttons on the rear change from the left side to the right side.
Hello, Gefen, I hope this finds you in fine form. The Q3 is a demigod's camera - aspirations to purchase same are (admittedly) beyond the reach of most who seek out that all-defining optical device. I've been using Nikons - both analogue & DSLR's for a long time; my D850 has a sensor that is on a par with the Q2 at 45 Megapixels, & whilst I can appreciate your passion for a 60 MP sensor, I have to wonder if indeed that is absolutely necessary; of course, that is your personal preference, but I'd stand the aforementioned D850 up against the Leica, anyday. We now live in a world of superlative consumerism, yet in that yearning for a sublime optic, are we not losing the imperative to capture images on merit alone - composition, context, & well, enjoyment ? Perhaps it's me (& the fact that I'm not really a videographer) but here in the UK & Republic Of Ireland - I live between the two, the cheapest price for the Q3, new, is close on to £5,500 GBP, but I did find one secondhand (with a 28mm Summicron F 1.7) for £1,400.00 GBP - that's not a bad deal. I look forward to more of your content. For now, at least, I'll stick with my Nikons, but I do wish you everything wonderful with your most recent photographic acquisition - Slan agus beannacht ! Aindriu (Andrew) 🙂
@@andrewtongue7084 Hello Andrew :-) Thank you so much for your comment!! I agree with you, I think the amount of new gear coming out every year now is crazy and the pursuit of the best gear can be exhausting. After all, the chipsets camera now is the best one 10 years ago.. Nevertheless I personally really enjoy the Q3 I will stick with it for a long time now hopefully 😊 Again thank you very much I hope you will enjoy multiple next videos as well :-)
My absolute pleasure, Gefen. Do stick with your Q3 - it matters not what others may say - sure, it's just another opinion, & if we (all) cannot discuss our preferences, then there's little point in diverse civil discourse. I am really looking forward to your future presentations; on the strength of this first one, I subscribed, so you must be doing something right 😉. Enjoy what remains of your day, Aindriu 🙂
Not at all, Gefen, my pleasure. On an unrelated note (& here my German is somewhat rusty), does the name 'Gefen' mean 'Gift' - or a derivation of that ? In any event, I'd say the nomenclature is most apposite 🙂
Thanks a lot for this video. My complements. I will never consider this camera. Too limited with the fixed lens. Always the perspective of a wide angle. Much too expensive to have it as an extra wide angle camera. With the format, one or two extra lenses will not take much room and can be very light. Leica used to be king in the days of mechanics, but electronics is simply beyond them. As is the case in many areas in Germany. A few years ago, I decided to get rid of all my Leica gear that had electronics in them. Too many break downs. I felt cheated, because I spent a lot of money and a new dead Leica on the second day of your trip stays a dead Leica. I now have the film MP. Mechanical and it is up to me to use the light meter or not. With two or three small lenses, a perfect system. And it works to old Leica perfection.
@@Free-iq8ip I use only JPEG (the 60mpx of this camera is too much space in RAW for me) and I edit the light, cropping and colours later in Lightroom. Thank you for commenting!!

Great video. I wish this Leica had more manual control dials on the top plate like the Nikon ZF has. I think it would be even better for me.
I understand why people would want those extra buttons but for me personally it is part of the Leica experience of the simplicity :-) Thank you for the comment!
Good video, like that you uploaded some samples cropped in.
What lens do you have on.....
@@gabipalamida468 the Leica q3 have a 28mm 1.7 fixed lens with macro option :) thank you for the comment!
Great video, thank you. I shoot Canon R5 now and Fuji XT5/X100v but I'm looking at the Q3. I looked at the Q2 but didn't bite, then been coveting the Q3 since launch... the cost is my biggest barrier. It's made worse now the 43mm version has been leaked... argh... decisions decisions lol.
great video
@@ulfjonsson2122 thank you!!
For me the most important difference to the q2 is the tilt shift Display.
@@WilliWucher1895 it really opens up new frames and that's a big difference..
Great video.. thanks .. one thing people say is that it is prone to dust lens problems ?
Thank you -excellent video.
@@andrewsnape1705 Thank you!
Love your images. You did a wonderful review in English. I am curious if whether you and concerns about buying a camera with a flip screen in the rear? That is a concern of mine. I worry about the breakage of moving parts. Please share your thoughts. Thanks
Thank you so much for your comment! I really appreciate it.
I'm looking for a video camera for my channel right now but I'm still not sure what.. I will share all the gear I'll buy in my next videos :-)
Hi,I went to Spain last month and I made a mistake bringing with me my FujiFilm XT100VI. I have my Leica Q3 and I loved it, big difference in image quality between both. I regretted not bringing it with me to Spain.😢
@@carmenvictoria46 Oww Did you do that because you were afraid for the Q3 there? And thank you for your comment! :-)
Bye
All dat kislux bags sssssoooooooo gorgeous
Nice video 🇸🇪👍🏻 also Canon user but I probably go for a Leica M11.. if I not change my mind for a Q3 😊
Thank you for your comment! For me the simplified fixed lens of the q3 is what made me choose it, but I had the same thought of the M11 :-)

I plan to get Zf with a single 28-400mm f4-8 when I rich enough to do so, do you think it is fun setup and not too big to carry on daily basis?
Thanks for the comment. I will definitely check it out.
thank you!
Have and love my Q3. It’s been about 6 months! Love your images, do you have Instagram or other social media where we can see your images? Thanks!!!

Enjoy what remains of your day,

Not at all, Gefen, my pleasure. On an unrelated note (& here my German is somewhat rusty), does the name 'Gefen' mean 'Gift' - or a derivation of that ? In any event, I'd say the nomenclature is most apposite 🙂
The name Gefen in Hebrew is " grape vine"🍇 😊 @@andrewtongue7084
Yes, it was the reason.
Well how do you define the colors? In JPEG? DNG depends on Lightroom, where you change everything
@@Free-iq8ip I use only JPEG (the 60mpx of this camera is too much space in RAW for me) and I edit the light, cropping and colours later in Lightroom. Thank you for commenting!!
Can you make a video of what's fun in photography, some say camera with dedicated dials and aperture is fun and typical PASM with spinning programmable dials is like shooting with a computer, is this true? But you say Ricoh is more fun than Leica Q3. How about Zf with a prime lens?
