For anyone getting upset about the weight….it’s pretty much the same as an Evora GT410 Sport except this is bigger and far better equipped….it actually has a modern and useable interior. I think everyone can feel the difference between 1000 and 1400 kg. Lotus really missed a chance here. At least they could have targeted for 1200 or 1300 kg. Now they are pursueing the same goal as anyone else: more weight, more power. As a Cayman GTS 4.0 owner, I can't see why I should move on to the lotus. Real world weight will be roughly the same, the lotus is less practical, the V6 is a worse engine than the B6, lotus quality and service is bad (also considering it's a brand new car), the dealer network is poor, depreciation of the lotus might also be higher. This leaves you with the design and probably the steering on the plus side for the lotus. In the end, it will be as always: people are celebrating Lotus in the TH-cam comment section, but leave their money at the Porsche dealer :)

That’s the model car, the “clay” one they designed first to get judged by the different departments. But I couldn’t really size a noticeable gap between the two

This might actually be a car that shocked me with it's good looks in a while

You know what I really want to see? A Lotus edition Mazda MX-5. It'd be fascinating to see what they could do with it.

Been far too long since Lotus did a front engined car. The reputation of the 90's Elan almost crippled the company though, with it being FWD and having an Izuzu engine. Lotus made that car as cheap as they possibly could. Different ownership back then. But like you, I'd still like to see a £35k front engined RWD Lotus Sports car. Would be cool.

Me too, but would that be the Elan? A reliable version of the Elan.

I guess the question is: what's missing from the MX-5?

@@mightbesherwood1313 It could always be lighter, more responsive, have slightly more power, rev more freely, have a more bare-bones interior, sound better, etc. My dream Lotus MX-5 would basically be a track-spec car for the road

A really impressive looking car. Looks like a baby supercar. The biggest difficulty will be deciding which engine to buy. I can see both the i4 and the V6 being superb in their own right.

V6 manual, not even a question

@@MonsieurGuy THIS. A thousand times this. The sound and OMG I went to full mast when I saw the see-through linkage. Plus you can modify that engine to 500 easily.

I would not have wagered that hearing "The steering is hydraulic..." would make me so happy. Looks amazing, cheers!

Finally a Lotus that doesn’t look like an odd kit car! Should sell like nuts.
