I’m sorry, but every time I see Shin Yong Jae, I can only remember that stage he did with Haeri, and when he becomes practically inaudible when they reach that climax belt together. 😭
Unrelated but Yena's tonality and support was quite consistent in the B3-A4 area in this peformance (placement on certain B4s wasn't too bad either), th-cam.com/video/yGxVb0Cd56M/w-d-xo.html Eunbi and Yena seem to be consistent (albeit shallow) as of late which is quite good! I'm personally a sucker for Yongjae's timbre and musicality but its pretty clear that Jihwan's belts are stronger from this.
@Eon Sylv Eunbi did quite well, She had about C3-A4 there but her support was stronger than most of her IZ*ONE material and slightly stronger than Yena's too. Chaewon was singing in her normal stylistic manner so theres not much to say there. (Don't quote me on the notes, im basing it off my ear and I dont have perfect pitch lol)
some of those notes you used are old Jihwan is a bit better in his upper belts , Yongjae only have G#4/A4 most of the A4s are pushed not great support there ....some of those upper notes in the fifth octave are mask placed head voice
I prefer Ji Hwan's belts. It sounds more fuller and less nasal to me but 12:59 is a fave. Question, is Ji Hwan's runs good?? Can't tell. I used to think he's not good at runs but I'm not sure anymore
@MAMAMOO Best Group I think Jihwan by a small margin cause he can handle Bb4 better and supports his head voice higher. But I feel like he doesn't resonate as much compare to Yongjae (below Bb4) and sometimes his vowels can be a bit wide. He can get stylistic as well like using an unnatural vibrato or his throat a bit too much at times.
I thought you'll take a long break after the 3rd gen bg ranking, glad to see u posting again, by the way I liked Jihwan's runs, is he a good agile vocalist ?
@@choutzuyu9826 they did carry support but still lacked fullness and pushed out with a somewhat closed throat. It's not that first time she has carried support on C5s anyway.
Glad to have found and followed this channel. The previous objective K-pop vocal channels I followed aren't active anymore. Are there any more active channels like this that anyone's aware of?
you can try th-cam.com/channels/ku9F73syLfKDbkVcImIiDw.html, th-cam.com/channels/B-MFq_WZCrJfWOZ8Q6IGIQ.html, th-cam.com/channels/QS4Yw642A2QPE8h8fzthLw.html, th-cam.com/channels/-HU5XtAJODi_euaacZ7KxA.html, th-cam.com/channels/3N3ePsykK1wZvpcjQdux9w.html (this channel is more about vocal range) or the vocal thread on OneHallyu. Jihwan wins for me. He's much less nasal, that is if he is at all to begin with, compared to Shin Yongjae. I also enjoy some of his runs. Both are really nice anyways. P/s: the last G#5 sounds like a mask placed head voice to me.
@@ReggieVu I would put Yongjae as the lowest competent or maybe add him next to Onew ,yeonsub and baekhyun .....I would agree with Jihwan placement between hongki and junsu
Obvio, si eligen las peores presentaciones de SYJ, lógico que el otro va a "ser mejor". Se nota mucho que son fans de Jihwan. Para la próxima, no estaría mal un poco de imparcialidad. 🙂
There's something wrong with yongjae's vibrato right? It sounds a bit forced and uneven when it comes out imo (that's why he rarely uses it I think). I think Jihwan is the better vocalist, and he's more clean with his approach
yeah I think he favors a throat based vibrato most of the time when sustaining to add dynamics/emotions and in this case for example trying to imitate Park Hyo Shin I think th-cam.com/video/ned3K9cqMUg/w-d-xo.html, but it can backfire and creates tension like at 8:44 and 13:35.
@@ReggieVu i wouldn't say it just a "Favor" or stylistic choice he genuily doesn't let a natural vibrato kick in his laggy vibrato is one of his issues ...his best notes if you noticed are straight notes with no vibrato 6:47 as soon as he tries to use some vibrato it get tight and he lose all openness , the F4 you linked above isn't a natural vibrato too it still wide and unsteady

The material @ 4:37 th-cam.com/video/BsR55qZjtxE/w-d-xo.html
Can’t blame the guy tho everyone would get the same outcome belting with Haeri lmaoo

Objectivelly who's better?
For me Jihwan is better by a small margin.
@@ReggieVu where would you place these two? better than kyungsoo but below junsu/jonghyun or higher?
Jihwan would likely be above Kyungsoo and Hongki, maybe not yet Junsu cause their gap in head voice is still quite big. Yongjae could be a tad lower.
