The Sin War trilogy precedes both Diablo 4. It tells the story of Uldyssian and his struggle to save descendants of Nephalem from the wrath of both High Heavens and Burning Hells. It's composed of:

Part of me thinks that could potentially be Rathma, part of me hopes I'm wrong. I'd hate to see the OG Necromancer give in to evil.
Especially since he shares similar appearance features of whenever you fight bad Necromancers in D3.
Not to mention that whole trailer reminded me of the Blood Moors and Temple of the Ancient One from D3.
@@savagewraith Necromancers work to ensure "balance" between good and evil. So if Rathma is not skewed either way, and yet frees Lilith... What on earth is in need of balancing? The appearance of Lilith is extremely interesting, and could mean we may see several OG nephalem from eons past!

@@SausageTooth yep. And potentially Rathma gave up on balance after the Malthael situation. If heaven was to cause such a genocide what's the point in pretending there's balance? If a character like Rathma were to fall into Darkness, it could have some really cool plot significance. PvP is back because sides of heaven,hell, and between will form.

Nice sum up of the Sin War trilogy but lots of things were left out like the foundation of the Priests of Rathma, Lilith's ultimate fate or anything about Lucion. You spoke lots about Inarius but the leader of the Triune wasn't even mentioned.

Its just that I know quite a bit about the overall story of warcraft and watching the movie was painful as they dumbed it down to make it appeal to the masses. (As blizzard does these days...) Seeing them do that with Diablo would be a nightmare.

I am such a fan of Diablo game, and this video made me start reading the Diablo books. I've just finish with the Sin War Trilogy, and still there is some things I don't quite understand.
1. How did Lilith break free from her imprisonment???
2. How did the High Heavens find out about Sanctuary?
3. How was the demons from Burning Hells, (even members of the Prime Evil) able to show up in Sanctuary whenever they feel like?
Jovan Ognjenovic I know it’s late, but I can answer your number 2 question, when uldyssian was gaining an advantage against inarius it caused inarius to feel like justice was not being served to him, he felt that it was an injustice for his own creation to be able to beat him. So tyrael (archangel of justice) senses that his fellow angel felt injustice which tipped him off about sanctuary and those within

Its funny how Lilith killed all her and Inarius's followers because she was scared that they would wipe out the nephalem, yet one farmer boi just said 'No' and pushed back both heaven and hell's forces. Now imagine that with multiple nephalems, i dont think Lilith had to worry lol

Diablo II Lord of Destruction had the best descriptions of the armours and the weapons...Tyrael's Might, Kraken Shell, Balrog Skin, Blade of Ali-Baba, Bing Sz Wang, Djinn slayer and The Grandfather...the colossus blade...indestructible...even with the best equipments, with cheats, defeating Diablo in Act IV in hell mode was almost impossible

Hear me out. Diablo 3 does not lack depth, It does lack Atmosphere in All the dungeons however.
Look at where you travel, where you go in Diablo 2 for example. Compare it to Diablo 3. Diablo 3 has even more wildlife areas, instead of walking underground all the time. (like one of the developers stated: ''color is your friend'' - as in it helps to create contrast)
What Diablo need, is like you say, darkness of the cathedral. I personally would love if you could revisit ALL the places from Diablo world, in Diablo 3. Would mean remastering Lut Gholein, Zakarum(?) temple and the Hells of D2-ActIV. Act V's: Arreat crater with ruins of Sescheron is already ingame D3.
Then make LIGHT a thing in the dungeons. You are not supposed to see everything, before it jumps out and smack u in the face (like demons could sometimes do in D2) Use a dark ass Fog of War, its not that hard. just make it dark and have sounds that fit.
Then with dark and scary dungeons, in addition to the brighter outdoor areas, you get that contrast, and the FEAR of going underground, and RELIEF when surfacing / scrolling back to town.
Side Note: Remaking the health potion would help a lot too. Redoit back to Diablo 2 standards, but with D3 style inventory (D3 style = same size, just fits Unrealistic much stuff)
I would not mind having to Buy (Actually using gold, makes gold a resource WORTH having) health potions /even other types of potions, doing other things)))
Could mean having to farm cash sometimes, just for the sake of potions. The replay value would rise a million times. instead of just pressing "Q" from lvl 1, and never have to think about it again.

"make gold worth having" you sure you have played D3 enough to say gold has no use? try getting those augmentations on your gear and see if gold in D3 isn't worth having lol.
What Diablo truely lacks is depth in terms of making your character who you want them to be. No matter how you play you always go from A to B. It needs more RPG elements and it should try to exceed those elements to a point that hasn't been reached yet.

I think you either have amnesia or nostalgia clouding your memory of Diablo 2. Gold was basically worthless in Diablo 2 and has far less value than in any other diablo game. Nothing from the vendors was ever worth buying. After Loot 2.0, all the vendors had worth while things to buy in D3. The vendors in D1 always had good things for sale.
As for the environments, Diablo 2 was full of bright sunny deserts, open fields and rain forests. Nothing scary about that at all. Contrast that with its predecessor that which had the darkest atmosphere probably of any game ever and you'll see how weak Diablo 2 actually was in this regard. I will admit that doing away with the "vision" mechanic does detract from "scary" aspect of the game somewhat, but it really doesn't make much of a difference.
Chugging potions constantly is also a dumb, archaic mechanic in any game and just serves to slow the game down by constantly having to revisit town to restock. This is why ARPG's have been moving away from this and you don't really see it anymore. It's just not fun to play that way. Knowing that you have one potion on cool down makes you play more strategically.

they should do a prequel game with this story line. you could choose which faction to fight for. you could be an overpowered nephalem and fight in uldyssians army, or you could fight for the Triune, or the Cathedral of light and fight with the angels.

Which game, D3? None of this is highlighted in the actual game because canonically none of this happened (to the inhabitants of Sanctuary, at least). After Uldyssian sacrificed himself, the world (as in, Sanctuary) was brought to a reset, just after the point where Uldyssian leaves his village, but without the influence of the High Heavens or the Depths of Hell (as accorded between Angels and Demons). This is why Uldyssian's story (and the Sin War overall) isn't explored in the game.
If you want to explore this in-game, however, you're free to download Median XL for Diablo II. It explores the Sin War :)

Wait a minute... I thought Tyreal destroying the world stone is what allowed the humans to regain their Nephalim powers again. So it seems Uldyssian was the one to alter the World Stone to allow for this? I guess it would explain how humans were powerful enough in Diablo 1 and 2 to take on Diablo and the rest.

Mohammad Zamin no. Unfortunately they had different ideas as to the fate of the nephalim. Lilith wanted to use them to destroy angels and demons and end the war completely. Inarius wanted to wipe them all out because they were stronger than angels and demons. The problem with Liliths plan is that demons that die just get reborn, same with angels. Problem with Inarius plan is that it’s essentially genocide

That part were the worldstone got cleanced and the nephalem got stronger instead of weaker is directly conflicting with diablo 3 lore.
Eastcoaststyla how? the worldstone got destroyed in the second game therefore marking the return of the nelpalem in D3

Inarius' story is in the Diablo 1 manual: long story short, he has his wings torn off, his skin stretched by hooks, his looks twisted, eyelids sliced off and was imprisoned within a cathedral of mirrors. Fun times

@dianna k I think the point here is that angels and demons are very different from us, with a strange mentality. Yes, angels are probably more willing to work with us, but their main motivation is still the Great Conflict. For someone to turn from it must have been a great shock. I don't think they knew what would happen to Inarius after they turned him over, but they were still willing to have him punished for leaving the Conflict and manipulating the Worldstone to create Sanctuary.
In diablo V Che Gevara Diablo descendant will save humanity from angels and meet creator which was evil all the time and free People into exploring whole universe and creating their own planets like earth.
Diablo 3 proved blizzard could not give a damn about lore. They ignored it, ruined it and then interjected their own hackneyed stupidity.
