Also must be mentioned that the game series of Legacy of Kain (LOK, Soul Reaver, SR 2, Blood Omen, Defiance) had masterful voice acting, especially Simon Templeman who voiced Kain. Never have i heard such voice work in a game series ever since.
I'm a 35 year old man who still knows these tomes by heart. This game has had a profound effect on me, this is not a good thing. It is however, honest. Thanks for uploading.
For me the tomes, voiceacting and the music always were the first three best things in this masterpiece of overwhelming, crushing in atmosphere and grim, true horror game. Hands Down Blizzard North, we owe you more than you know. Hands down every man involved in creating this - "THE H&S" The Game.
These tomes blew my mind the more playthroughs I've done back then. Witnessing how the Horadrim crumbled and submitted to the Prime Evils chilled my soul.
The grim atmosphere, the font, the voice, the soundtrack, this is what made this game great besides the RPG elements and the graphics, this is like actually going down to hell. This game invented a genre and is part of what Blizzard is now.

Just passed here to download it and usee "take heed and bear witness to the truths that lie herein" as my ringtone. But couldn't help to watch all the video and see that lore all again. Man. I love that game!
I wasn't that fluent in English when I played this game as a kid, many years ago, so the meaning of the tomes eluded me. Yet now, as I see this video, I realize the tomes foreshadows what happened to Albrecht, before the battle with Diablo. Man, this game was even darker than I realized.
After learning the lore of Diablo i realized they were actually foreshadowing the posession of Aidan (the warrior from the game) who kills Diablo and takes the soulstone within himself. Diablo knew of the great love Aidan had for his little brother Albrecht so he must have planned to possess him all along. As you play through the game as the warrior you have no idea (as that lore was created later on), but learning it years later brings a much juicy reveal to the story.

Man, Diablo 1 was an experience. It may not have the gameplay refinements of the sequels, but it just sucks you right in with the story, music, and sound design, and it probably makes it the most enjoyable for me. I'd say Diablo 1 is almost a different game from the other 2. It's like a survival-horror game.

Diablo was the first PC game that really grabbed ahold of me and never let go. The music, the mythos, the impending sense of doom everytime you entered the dungeon were just remarkable. Hackers eventually ruined the game completely but it sure was scary RPG fun.

When I played the Diablo 1 the first time, I played all 3 characters to get the different sets of tomes. For Rogue, I got the Demonic Tomes (Red books). For Sorcerer, I got the Lazarus Tomes (Blue books). For Warrior, I got the Horadrim Tomes (Grey books). My favourites tomes are the Lazarus Tomes.
We all make mistakes. However, I recommend putting a note in the description and an annotation over the part of the video that names the voice actor in order to make the correction more clear. I would look it up myself, to be certain, but I know Paul Eiding's voice very well from the Metal Gear Solid series as the voice of Colonel Roy Campbell, and there is simply no mistaking it. :)
I'm sorry but I'm missing some story tomes in Diablo I. This is the first time I've ever played Diablo I and perhaps I'm doing it wrong. I'm currently in dungeon lvl4, the last level of the Cathedral and I only find The Realms Beyond by Lazarus. The Great Conflict by the Horadrim is nowhere to be found. I think that it has something to do with the quest group though. I think each quest has its own drops, including story tomes. I have Ogden's Sign instead of Gharbad the Weak. So I think I can only read The Realms Beyond in Ogden's Sign and The Great Conflict by the Horadrim must've been in the other quest. That is the only explanation that I think of. If you have better understanding about the game, would you please further elaborate?
You will only find one Tome on Levels 4, 8 and 12 each time you play through. Which Tomes appear are random. So, it's not uncommon for some Tomes to reappear on one or more of those Levels. It took me many times going through the game to capture them all for this video.
In D1 and D2 many media files are stored in MPQ files. I've actually extracted many of these files from D2. It's been a long time since I've extracted files from the MPQ file in D1, but there may be a lot of video _and_ audio files in it. I remember hearing many more lore dialogs from NPCs in earlier patches of D1. But, ever since Patch 1.09, I don't hear them anymore. I'm sure they're still in the data file though. According to Diablo lore, Jered died before the events in D1 began. But, I'm sure Paul Eiding will be back. In D1 he was the voice of the Narrator, Pepin, Lachdanan, Archbishop Lazarus and the Warrior. In D2 he voiced the Narrator, Mephisto and The Summoner. In D3 he voiced Mayor Holus and Chancellor Eamon.
@@WinterDominus Yes. A ghostly apparition of Archbishop Lazarus, King Leoric and Queen Asylla appear in Campaign Mode during a memory replay of her execution in Act I, The Cursed Hold. In Adventure Mode, the room is empty and the memory replay doesn't happen. Lazarus also reappears in D3 every January during _The Darkening of Tristram_ Event.
@1Borys9 Which Cain are you referring to? There was a Jered Cain, who we never see and Deckard Cain, who appears in all the Diablo games. There are 3 authors of these tomes: 1. The unknown author tells the tale of Diablo and the events of the Sin War. 2. Lazarus speaks in first-person and says things like "my Master" and "my Lord". 3. Jered Cain begins with "Take heed and bear witness" and "the last legacy of the Horadrim". This is all well-documented Diablo lore. p
True. And I did that for my Diablo: Music videos. In this one, I wanted the video to match the audio. Besides, I already had a character that had completed the game, so it's not like I had to play the game from scratch each time. I just had to revisit the Levels where the Tomes are found. It still took a while, but it wasn't that bad. p

@@auronjuce7455 "Sewing" is done with a needle and thread. "Sowing" is starting or planting something. "Showing" is something different all together. I don't know if you misread this or if it was a typo. In D1, the dialog window says "sewing chaos" when the correct form should be "sowing chaos", as @Lattrodon has pointed out.
3 and 4 are massive jokes and a slap in the face to the original 2. don't even get me started on immortal either. what a pathetic excuse of a diablo games. the new dev team are pathetic at best.
+princedarienlover You are correct. Those tomes are tied to quests in Single Player (see my D1 quests playlist). This video is about the 9 lore tomes that can be found on certain levels in Single Player or Multiplayer. There were 2 other quest tomes I can think of: The Book of Blood (Arkaine's Valor) and the Steel Tome (Warlord of Blood). And though it's not a tome, when you click the rack on level 15 you can pick up Lazarus' Staff. Take the Staff to Cain and he will give you another chunk of lore. (And the NPCs give you bits and pieces). ;-)

Not all submit, but oppressed and embrace it such as Zoltun kulle. Sadly, they kill him. Wished, he can be resurrected in fourth game.

In the psx version there are aprox 20 minutes of Paul narrating lore in a separate option menu. I can't seem to find it on youtube
In D1 and D2 many media files are stored in MPQ files. I've actually extracted many of these files from D2. It's been a long time since I've extracted files from the MPQ file in D1, but there may be a lot of video _and_ audio files in it. I remember hearing many more lore dialogs from NPCs in earlier patches of D1. But, ever since Patch 1.09, I don't hear them anymore. I'm sure they're still in the data file though. I hope Diablo 4 takes place with Jered Cain and they bring back Paul Eiding as a voice actor he's been in so many games and has an amazing voice for this game
According to Diablo lore, Jered died before the events in D1 began. But, I'm sure Paul Eiding will be back. In D1 he was the voice of the Narrator, Pepin, Lachdanan, Archbishop Lazarus and the Warrior. In D2 he voiced the Narrator, Mephisto and The Summoner. In D3 he voiced Mayor Holus and Chancellor Eamon.

@@WinterDominus Yes. A ghostly apparition of Archbishop Lazarus, King Leoric and Queen Asylla appear in Campaign Mode during a memory replay of her execution in Act I, The Cursed Hold. In Adventure Mode, the room is empty and the memory replay doesn't happen. Lazarus also reappears in D3 every January during _The Darkening of Tristram_ Event.
It is Paul Eiding. Although he wasn't credited in the first game he WAS in the second game.

@1Borys9 Which Cain are you referring to? There was a Jered Cain, who we never see and Deckard Cain, who appears in all the Diablo games.
There are 3 authors of these tomes:
1. The unknown author tells the tale of Diablo and the events of the Sin War.
2. Lazarus speaks in first-person and says things like "my Master" and "my Lord".
3. Jered Cain begins with "Take heed and bear witness" and "the last legacy of the Horadrim".
This is all well-documented Diablo lore.

True. And I did that for my Diablo: Music videos. In this one, I wanted the video to match the audio. Besides, I already had a character that had completed the game, so it's not like I had to play the game from scratch each time. I just had to revisit the Levels where the Tomes are found. It still took a while, but it wasn't that bad.

Sewing and showing are different

@@auronjuce7455 "Sewing" is done with a needle and thread. "Sowing" is starting or planting something. "Showing" is something different all together. I don't know if you misread this or if it was a typo. In D1, the dialog window says "sewing chaos" when the correct form should be "sowing chaos", as @Lattrodon has pointed out.
Diablo terrified me as a Kid. But I overcame it. To be honest, 3 and 4 seem to be a miss or hit with the tone David Brevik has set for 1 and 2.
3 and 4 are massive jokes and a slap in the face to the original 2. don't even get me started on immortal either. what a pathetic excuse of a diablo games. the new dev team are pathetic at best.

+princedarienlover You are correct. Those tomes are tied to quests in Single Player (see my D1 quests playlist). This video is about the 9 lore tomes that can be found on certain levels in Single Player or Multiplayer. There were 2 other quest tomes I can think of: The Book of Blood (Arkaine's Valor) and the Steel Tome (Warlord of Blood). And though it's not a tome, when you click the rack on level 15 you can pick up Lazarus' Staff. Take the Staff to Cain and he will give you another chunk of lore. (And the NPCs give you bits and pieces). ;-)

@sprinktwink Thanks! I needed a little break from D2 and decided to revisit the game that started it all. Rumor has it that Blizzard wants to have D3 out by the end of the year. I now have vids of D1 and D2. I'll be ready when D3 hits the shelves. ;)
