Jod going off on the kids was such a frightening scene. He showed that he really, truly hated them and hit them where it hurt. All five actors did amazing.
I think he's got a real chip on his shoulder too. The hungry speech last week. He's been scrabbling for riches and these kids are all sheltered and privileged. I think basically he's sort of jealous of them.
Story tip: Bigger is basically never better when it comes to threats, it's basically always the opposite. The bigger the star destroyer the less attached you get, and the more worlds that get destroyed the less attached you are and the less audience cares. An adult threatening 4 kids we like will always feel more dangerous than an army destroying 5 planets we barely know.
@HotDogTimeMachine385 yep, that’s why a tactical genius like Thrawn or at the least a competent middle manager like Lio Partagaz is a bigger more menacing threat than a battle station most of the time
Agreed, it was the scene that really made me realise how great of an actor Jude Law is. He played the swaggering swashbuckling pirate so well in the earlier episodes, gradually showing more and more cracks in his facade until now, when it all finally comes down. And somehow they managed to make a blue lightsaber feel more menacing than the red ones we've seen in Disney Plus shows!
Jod standing in front of the kids and their parents with the lightsaber was giving me revenge of the Sith flashbacks… can’t wait for next weeks episode!
Same! I was like, “man, it’s not often that a blue lightsaber is being used to threaten murder, especially threatening kids. The last time I can think of was…. oh.”
Jod's "oops" when the message says the kids shouldn't tell anyone where they're from is so fun. It's just such a fun moment! The camera just staying on Jod as he's staring at the gold was surprisingly great. Jude Law's face did so many expressions
Yea! The amount of emotions that flooded across his face was astounding. It went from pure fascination to being on the verge of tears and everything in between. Very well acted by him.
Jude Law has acted his ass off in this show & the kids have matched him scene for scene! The kid who plays wimm has got such perfect comedy delivery, the "too invincible" line last episode was such a silly child like line, that will stick with me. I honestly have no idea how next week will play out. I don't think Jod will be our stereotypical loveable rouge. He may have been Captain Hook the whole time.
He was already Captain Hook. He’s still giving me Long John Silver vibes. I really don’t know what will happen, either, but I will be surprised either way.
The ship the kids came home in is the Onyx Cinder. Rennod said in his log that the ship was"fully armored" to go to At Attin. So when they used the "emergency hull demolition sequencer" it removed the armor, leaving just the ship itself.
i like to think the show somewhat tricks us into thinking sm-33 is programed the pirate code in his head when really maybe he was just following it, then said fuck it! POW!
Can't engage on the poll, but my theory for Silvo is "he escapes with nothing, but then gets picked up by his crew, who drag him off to some unseen punishment as the last we see of him."
Possibly, but he'd need to do something to piss off his crew first. Right now, he's just taken them to more treasure than all of them has ever seen combined. He could betray them and try to keep it for himself, but that would be pretty dumb given the amount of treasure.
Nah, Jod will be captured but escapes with a chest full of treasure and leaves the lightsaber to Wim. Probably with a „this side up“-Note attached. His character is basically Long-John Silver, after all.
He escapes with "One measly credit". Pirate Frigate gets shot down by the huge ass Chekov's Turbolaser Hidden in School. Neel will guide everyone to it, KB will boot it up and Fern and Wim will do the shooting :)
Man, Jod igniting the lightsaber in front of the parents and their kids give me order 66 flashbacks instantly. I am so impatient for it, but oh so ready for it!!!!
This has to be one of the best series so far. I can feel the “adventure” vibes from this show and it hasn’t ended yet! I didn’t find myself enjoying The Acolyte which is disappointing but at least this one worked for me. Also expecting andor next 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
I liked Acolyte…but this show “blows it out of the water”!!! Skeleton Crew is special. Every actor (child and adult) is doing an amazing job, and the story is just so fun, well written, and unpredictable in a way that Star Wars often falls short of.
My theory is that Jod's a Bokken Jedi, someone who was briefly trained by an order 66 survivor who was then killed by the Empire. As for Tak Rennod's mysteriously missing face and the mysterious supervisor who's never been seen, they might just be red herrings, they might not, but my gut tells me that this show has at least one last twist waiting in this last episode, we'll see.
The 2 best moments of the episode for me: The silence (wish it lasted another beat or two) after the scout fighter got ripped apart by the barrier. "Maybe we should send it another." And Brutus launches out of his chair and pushes Jod toward the airlock, lol. And then the shot of Captain Silvo saying telling Fern that her claiming the ship won't work and SM-33's fist entering from stage right into Silvo's helmet, haha. Great episode.
I loved that you guys noticed that 33 made a choice, and that the pirate code is a guide, which is even mentioned by Keith Richards in Pirates of the Caribbean. I'm still hoping that they have a school roof gun that it'll be used against the pirates, and maybe Jod will apologize at the end and listen to Neel about just saying you're sorry.
The part that blows my mind is that one of those Republic Credits is worth around 4-5 thousand New Republic Credits. Can't event phantom how much that one vault is worth
I literally went 'nooooooo' when SM-33 got beheaded. It's been a while since a Star Wars death elicited that reaction from me (assuming he'll stay dead).
The clone army was built in Kamino where (almost) no one knew they existed. The republic credits were minted in At-Atin, where bo one knew they existed. One story, many tellings.
My dudes. They don't "Have stories of people being sent down to the mines." That was Fern making shit up. It was the first character trait we had for her, she's a bullshitter.
I think the fact he semi gently kicked it to the side, instead of just stomping on it or punting it away, is a sign there is still some good in him. He isn’t completely irredeemable yet. And if it is based off Treasure Planet then it would make sense Jod will realize he cares for Wim and have a change of heart at the last moment.
I thought that's who that was. I've seen people predict that Captain Tak became the supervisor after crashing on At Attin, but that just doesn't make sense to me. The whole reason pirates want treasure is so they can spend it on whatever hedonistic pleasure that catches their interest. Why would a pirate captain hoard wealth if there's nothing interesting to spend it on?
god i love this show so much, definitely some of my favorite star wars. now, here are some predictions... jod is using magnets. just my opinion. we saw kumail do "jedi tricks" in kenobi. fern said it could be alot of things, but she also mentioned magnets. ive only seen him use "the force" on metallic objects. and only with one hand, which he wears a glove on. gonna be a reveal. the supervisor is probably Tak Rennard. We didnt see his face in the holo recording, only heard his voice. id have to go back and listen because im not sure. but. when we heard the supervisors voice for the announcement, its possible it was his. i think so because of those two moments. no face, only his voice, giving a clue. the supervisor, no face only his voice. the supervisor of this treasure planet mint. the kids found his ship, out in the forest, crash landed, no one on board alive, no Tak Rennard. he made it to at attin and has taken the treasure. let me know what yall think
When Jod was telling the kids to shut up, I felt the betrayal, I teared up ngl. The kids trusted him, maybe still holding out on some hope that he was just bluffing (because I know I'd think the same when I was a kid). Anyway, they acted their ass off I love this show sm. If the show ended up not doing Jod-is-a-good-guy-after-all, I wouldn't even be mad 😁
If Disney decides to do more pirate stories outside of Skeleton Crew, I would LOVE to watch something following the tales of Captain Rennod, in the flesh. (Plus, if SM-33 was his droid for long, he could be in it too)
It would be interesting for either the supervisor to be a jedi and fight Jod or the mother (forgot her name) to take the lightsaber from jod using the force
That was my thought or at least one of the younglings in the room, Which probably means Jod's lightsaber threats at the end are hollow because he won't be able to go through with it.
So wait, if the Onyx just goes autopilot at the At planet landing, how did it crash upside down in the first place? Captain intentionally crash it or a whiplash from forcing the ship not to go autopilot?
Like The Acolyte, people crapped on it when it was first introduced and never gave it a chance. For some reason it's just become popular to hate on star wars now.
I don't think Jod has any training, or very little with a lightsaber. I am beginning to suspect that Neel's dad might be the supervisor (apparently may be played by Steven Fry)
A theory: The Empire actively continued the Republic's oversight of At Attin, but found it more useful to keep its already prodigiously productive population in the dark about the change in management; claiming the occasional ship that came to collect a shipment of credits was from the Republic. As they were losing the war, they scrubbed any data about At Attin from the Imperial Archives, in order to keep the incoming New Republic in the dark - and so they could secretly fund the construction of the First and Final Order fleets using At Attin's vast reserves.
This show is the home run Star Wars desperately needed. As far as I’m concerned, it’s the best Star Wars show outside of Andor…because I think if you strip all the Star Wars elements (lore, tie ins, nostalgia, etc) out of the shows, Skeleton Crew works better as a show than any of the others do. Yep, even Mando. And I say that as someone who genuinely likes every Star Wars show.
So what I was just thinking about is if the republic mints their own credits then why does the banking clan exist? I thought they held all the credits in the galaxy but if the republic makes them then they shouldn’t be at the mercy of the banking clan right?

Wim's sudden "attack!" after the others talked about making a plan was so funny
This episode was fantastic both the acting from both Jude Law, and the kid actors were phenomenal and what a crazy way to end the episode
I love how At Attin is like an old play on an island shrouded in turbulent seas and mist which only a best ship can reach.
I love that Jod assumes the official Youngling Killing stance #1. Anakin would approve.
"Now Anakin, the youngling massacre technique is purely theoretical. I hope you understand that." -Kenobi or something.
The ship the kids came home in is the Onyx Cinder. Rennod said in his log that the ship was"fully armored" to go to At Attin. So when they used the "emergency hull demolition sequencer" it removed the armor, leaving just the ship itself.
When the Onyx Cinder is coming into land and we hear the Supervisors voice, it was definitely Stephen Fry doing the voice.
That is my guess. The Supervisor is another SM-series droid. Who will meet a sticky end but its body will be used to revive SM-33 :)
i like to think the show somewhat tricks us into thinking sm-33 is programed the pirate code in his head when really maybe he was just following it, then said fuck it! POW!

There is definitely enough money there to crash the economy of a planet. The entire world could crash the New Republic's economy.
If that many were to be released into the galactic market it would crash in value and be next to worthless.
@@sandrosliske Good point. But if the New Republic gets control of it, they could just swap the currency.
I felt so sad for the kids when Jod was standing over them with the lightsaber (and so mad at Jod 😅). Looking forward to your reaction!

Probably be "dead" until season 2. But yes, I agree with you.
I'll bet he gets repaired in the finale.
It was just the neck, no critical parts were damaged.
I got a feeling that "The Supervisor" is nothing more than a protocol Droid like C-3PO
No way they did my man Glerb like that! 😭
And don't even get me started on Brutus
@Psub950 what they did to Brutus was brutal
For a moment I actually expected the vault to be empty. Like the vault in the ship in the first episode. That would’ve been crazy foreshadowing lol
I'm expecting the single credit in the ship's vault to be the real foreshadowing.
Hiding a habitable planet inside a gas giant disguise is genius. Sci-fi gold
The clone army was built in Kamino where (almost) no one knew they existed.
The republic credits were minted in At-Atin, where bo one knew they existed.

According to Capt. Rennod, At Attin is "the last Old Republic mint", so some (or all) of the other "jewels of the Republic" were probably mints, too.

The communication device is almost an exact model of the spaceship that came for ET.
The fact that we were genuinely worried about him stepping on the rat, they have successfully made a scary villain
Why wasn't the total mint count 1138? I mean...so obvious. The number being one off seems deliberate, but why not just go with 1138?
1,139 vaults.. thats one more than 1138!
