nickDOTbloc I think its understandable bc Its a very strong Instrument. Before I started drumming back in 2014 I had the Same opinion but I think its worse now haha
Same here, and the reason why is that they've always had (...and have) excellent drummers, among which Mike Smith, Dave Culross, etc...they're awesome! \m/
@gothmogtheorc2430 Right but it's like CC not playing Hammer Smashed Face. There are definitely tracks I look forward to hearing much more but that song is the entire reason so many people know who Cannibal Corpse is You have to remember that an entire subgenre of death metal was spawned from ONE riff in Liege of Inveracity
Well, this is a slower tempo so he actually almost needs to get height on the stick to maintain the speed and evenness. Hard to explain if you're a drummer. What's even more impressive though are the bass drum double strokes.
My band had the absolute honor and pleasure of sharing the stage with Suffo when they played BOA 2019 and holy fucking shit Eric is such a goddamn beast. The entire band is just RIDICULOUS. Total sweethearts off stage, but on stage you can't mess with them.
I was lucky enough to see Suffocation around this time in 2017, and i was on the balcony of the venue looking down on the stage, i remember watching Eric Morotti playing, one of the best death/doom drummers iv'e seen live. Outstanding.
Holy cow this is some killer drumming shit here..talk about being in shape and just poised the amount of work here unreal..even with the trigs going so good...
Dude is a beast. Super cool how Eric explained in an interview he did with Martin Jovanovic that he actually cuts and tapes/glues part of a drum stick to the heel plate of his pedals to give the doubles (heel toe), almost like a gravity blast technique/feel on short boards.
Haven't seen this guy before, but great drumming. Really solid. Nice and tight playing, really clean, very hard hits and no overplaying on a classic song. As the genre goes into it's fifth decade it seems like we are really reaping the benefits of maturity when it comes to the quality of the musicians.
I was lucky to grow up with the bands from the golden age of death metal , even since 1988 ... Suffocation is one of the best , the best was Death - Chuck Schuldiner ...RIP .... Morotti , wow , very strong performance ....George Kollias and NILE in general should take lessons from this epic band ......
Eric brings fresh air into suffo as a drummer myself he's filled a lot of amazing shoes quite well I loved culross but this cats on fkn par the lineups wonky but who cares we get to hear them Franks got obligations nuff said terrence is keeping them alive new albums great
Saw Suff, original lineup Kataklysm, And At the Gates back in the day.....of all the shows I've been to, it's been the best show I've ever seen. It was around the time when Frank first shaved head. People were like......WTF!!! But once they started playing. Its was sheer brutality. Nobody cared about his cut hair. Lol. P.s. that classic lineup of Kataklysm was no frikin joke either. Sylvain Houde was a beast and one of the best at that time.
@@mtuzpsrk4022 I see where he's coming from and I agree; Scott Burns didn't do these guys justice with that mush tone drone sound his records tended to have. It doesn't have to be space age high tech perfectly clean, but bigger and not near as compressed as Burns' stuff tended to be.
@@mtuzpsrk4022 Are you serious even with Breeding the Spawn? I'd love to hear this album remixed & remastered. I know they are re-recording one song per their album during the new era but I'd love to hear this album as a complete package with good sound.
If you ask me about I will always say Mike “ The Predator” smith is the greatest Drummer Suffocation has had , but it doesn’t mean Kelly , Doug or Eric are regular drummers , are extremely good too , but the latest album of Suffo wasn’t that awesome , there are very interesting riffs and grooves but this new line up has to take Suffo to another level , specially in the drums if the want to continue being the Goats of brutal technical death metal 🤘
Fuckin song is over 25 years old and still absolutely slams. Eric is fucking killin it. Keep that shit frellsh 👊
chris boylan is one best death metal song in the first and best brutal death metal album unbelievable fresh every song is memorable!!!
Just saw them 2 days ago and he did all the old songs justice. He's a fucking maniac
i dont even play drums but im obsessed with watching these guys play

As long as they play this song I will continue to attend their shows.
Ain't no way they'll ever play a show without it. This is the song that put them on the map.
@@tyminor9366they do have more bangers besides liege.

The height of rise on the stick during the blasts is impressive. Just beating the absolute dog shit out of the snare. Super powerful. Love it.
Yessir , just like Mike Smith did.
@@Kathayne636 Smith had much more volume on the blasts

4:31 the ending of the slam part is so damn amazingly written, wow!!!
🔨🔨🔨🔨
The chokes🥵🥵
Without controversy, THE BEST death metal band ever.
True
Necrophagist tbh
Technically talking, yes

The riffs are so clear here. I feel like I can never really appreciate what’s being played from the album

This song still levels everything after 30 years.
I'm not huge in to this band, but this album and this song in particular are some of the best old school death metal ever written.
Excellent drummer. Also those sub-bass/infrasound samples he nails at the beginning of the fast double pedal sections are pretty cool...
the roll at 4:24 was so damn good.

Albert the Fish what Death Doom bands is/was he in?
This song is very old but the best song of "Suffocation" for me!
Goddamn I love Suffocation!!!
joly shit Kevin

man those are some clean double strokes
Lewis Fleischer I was about to comment the same thing. Clean drumming in general!
sorry to say, but its fake. he is clearly not playing the fast double bass parts!
yes he is, he's using heel toe.
Ever heard of Heel Toe?
It's called the heel-toe technique, look it up bro.
INSANE!!!!!!!!!❤😮❤

Seen them with all OG members back in mid 90's, fuck yea.
Fucking king of the double stroke kick drums! Jesus. Effortless! \m/
Such a sick fukkn drummer. Easily my favorite song.
Homie hits fucking hard!
This guy has a great style, and you can tell he's slamming those pedals!

Wow they nailed it live. That's insane. Sounds just as good if not better than the album.
This is the most lovelyest things i have ever seen omg
Such an immense display of power and precision. Mike Smith would approve, me thinks.
two words: eric fucking moretti! quickily becoming one of my favs!
Excellent technique , never seen him before, now im impressed!
Insane technical brutal death metal

Considering how much Suffocation influenced the whole genre... They probably DID take lessons from them.
4:59 making sure they survived the onslaught
These 2 bell hits just before the slam sound fucking awesome
Magnifique 👍
One of the most notable live experiences I’ve ever had was witnessing this song live. I lost my shit. Life affirming…
Smooth and clean AF!
😳Gawddam 😳 that was brutal especially right at the end, amazing 👏bro! For reals! 🤘🤘
I literally only watch this for the later slam, the fluency is just spectacular

Re-recording or a remix, not a remaster. Remaster is just EQing and compressing/expanding and whatnot the existing recording.

Hey, @1:05 and @4:13 there is a really low bass explosion, like an atomic bomb. Is it that because he is hitting the MIDI controller next to him?
Yes
