I agree, one of the pioneers that helped death metal evolve. There likely wouldn't be Dying Fetus and a lot of other bands if it wasn't for Suffocation.
@@nowimhigh yes. I read somewhere years ago that suffocation is the most plagiarized death metal band. And that there would be no deathcore or slam without them. That is 100% true. Suffocation are probably THE most important death metal band.
Some of the cleanest heel toe I've ever seen. The little imperfections here and there make it just that more impressive with how often he hits it perfectly.

Fuck man 🤯🍀☠️😭🙏 I know why these guys are one of my all time favorite band damn! Fuck ☠️ ✅🔥👏 Love em so much These songs are straight from hell 🔥😄 Thank you for recording this master piece 👍
This guy Eric is an amazing drummer 👌I rate him top five next to my other favorite drummer's, George Kollias, Derek Roddy, Chris Adler, Joey Jordison and Jon Rice. Yeah my drummer influences are the bomb B' 👍😌👍
It feels like a cover band at this point, but I get that the guys have been doing it for decades and have families, the band is still tight as ever, glad I was able to see them live with Frank, Terrence and Mike.
My beloved Band. You know - almost every child in my town listened to Metal. Some hit the softer line, i went for the more, harder and technical stuff. Kinda lucky, right? Been good 80's and 90's for me to grow up as Teen and play instruments. Years passed and my heart is still beating for this and other bands. I understand the reasons, why Mike and Dave left. I understand why Eric is there. But 3x on the BD triggering is a little too much for my taste.
@@cainegrandt Might be that too... but wouldn't it be so much more rock n' roll if it was the other way around? ,:) Now a bit more serious: I seem to understand that Eric spots the guy (s) doing a line and he said "haha! fuck it!" and then the guy says something to the effect of "want a bump?" and Eric answers "Naah, I don't do that stuff" but stays cool about it.
@@cainegrandt Then again, maybe you were there hehe. Dunno about the States, but here in Europe metalheads are getting more and more into drugs (coke, speed, mdma...), I remember 20 or more years ago, festivals and gigs consisted of lots of alcohol and weed. Since early/mid 2000's fellow bangers have been learning the finest points of a good bump of coke (when quality says "present" at the gathering). Just don't loose yourself to it.
Live it probably sounded amazing. I’ve seen Suffocation a number of times and every time they sounded extremely great sound-wise. Even at festivals where all bands before and after sounded like shit. And you probably listen to it on a shitty computer speaker or shitty headphone. I’m listening on a good overear headphone with a ton of low frequency room and I definitely “feel” the kick in the low end.
Anyone else here say to themselves, I'll watch a few songs and end up watching the entire set?
Every fuckin time. Haha 🤘🏼

To Trigger or not to trigger. Who cares. This is sheer power and brutality. Great drumming. Mikes legacy remains intact
These old songs aged so well...sounds like it could have come out today. That's how far ahead of their time suffo were.

This is by far the tightest live band I’ve ever seen in person. It’s unreal the power of this stuff played in your face….
I'm super bummed they won't be going to Seattle or Portland on the Atheist tour.
I still can't believe they're from my old hometown and I missed them while I was there.
I DID get to see them at the Brass Mug though. Had a short chat with Terrance after the show.
I saw them live and It officially made me a life long fan even got a hug from eric
When they start a set with Liege of Inveracity the in your face effect is freaking unreal
The cymbal chokes during the slam section of Liege is an incredibly impressive display of control of your instrument. Cheers brother 🍺

I like that this drummer does right handed blasting like Mike Smith...like an homage in a way.
Excelente, Eric. Great double pedal technique, Heel toe rule !!! Saludos desde Chile.
Es Double stroke la técnica que usa

Pierced from within track maybe best version i heard
Just noticed that his hi-hat pedal is pointing the other way; but who needs it, when you're in a death metal band!😄
Lol Mike Smith didn't have a hi-hat pedal at all
Hell of a drummer!
seen em twice once with frank and the other with him gone. sounded perfect both times
Hell yeah 🤘
That was awsom 💪💪💪
Best drummer Suffocation has had.
What he is using next to left hand?! Triggers moduł or what?! 😊
Excellent
Hell fuck yes!!!

🔥🔥🔥
Heel Toe = Life
Based on the limited kit he's working with, he fucking fired it especially Funeral inception
🔥🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘🤘
16:13 is that double stroke?
That it is.

Is he better than Mike Smith? I'm truly stumped.
Eric just spotted someone on stage doing a line of coke (or speed, or whatever). 😋 At 5:58.
They were discussing what to do with the china that fell of the riser ;)

Suffocation!!!!💀🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘🤘
the drummer is great but the mixer is even more
'S math sin!
Double kicks of doom
they’d be so much better with different drum parts
Mike Smith is the best...
MGLA show next?
Unfortunately, no.
Big jim drum sounds! take off the plastic!!!!!!
So at this point it’s one original member? That’s a bummer.

Classic death metal. Would serve well as a soundtrack for decapitating Jesuits.
Not from this Earth Drumming
I wouldn't bother with bass drums if I were going to go all trigger output.
They really need people to stop using their typewriters in the middle of a video.
Do I have to explain why death metal drummers use triggers?🙄
God I hate that kick sound so much. This is still insane though!
It's a beautiful sound.
