Everyone should google Eric and see the other covers and bands he's played in. Like studio footage of him recording killitorous playing at 280-290bpm with gravity blasts...it's fucking insane how fast and tight he is. He's easily one of the world's top DM drummers. Anyone that doubts it doesn't know his background.
I miss Mike Smith slaughtering the snare with his powerful blasts, very few come close. But Eric's playing is tight af

Listening to this new vocalist made me realize just how brutal Frank Mullen was. There’s literally no one that can replicate that guys vocals.
This isn't the new full time vocalist. This is Kevin Muller, he filled in during this time. Ricky Myers is the new full time guy, way more brutal than Muller is. I saw him with Suffocation in 2016 i believe it was, he was supposed to take over then i dunno wtf happened. Either way, he's back in full time. Agreed on Frank though, he can never truly be replaced.

for the millionth time - he's got to hit ALL the notes - and if anything - triggers makes it harder cause with such a piercing sound if you're ANY sloppy there's no hiding.... great performance :)

I mean, he's great, but there's still Mike Smith, George Kollias, Kevin Talley, Adam Jarvis, Steve fucking Asheim (the dude's often overlooked, but just check out his isolated performances, he plays 32-nds with no triggers and hits the snare on blasts with pretty much the same force as on skanks), Trey Williams.

Not entirely sure but usually the quickest method is called "heel-toe" method. Try searching that

IF heel/toe is "cheating" and triggers are "cheating" than I say alternating foot blasts are cheating. So 95% of metal drummers out there are "cheating" 275bpm Single foot blasts or you suck.

Been playing drums for 20 years ! this is just unreal drumming !!! different level from ACDC
Knew Eric since the guy was 15/16. Played shows with him and he stood out every show compared to other drummers. Fast and skilled no matter technique he uses for sound or conserving energy. He plays the speed and hits it. Simple. Suffo chose him because they see his power and skills, check their interviews with the introduction of new members. Also his brother is in another great band Called Obey the Brave.. check the two diff drum styles between the brothers.

@arthur kitchen I just prefer the resonance of acoustic drums verse the digital sound. Triggers have their use, I mean tlin the studio and to get a perfectly micd sound but I prefer old school
Well, they are cheating in a way.
- You can set the threshold/sensitivity to make it really easy for the drummer to trigger a sound, requiring less strength and endurance.
- You can set the threshold/sensitivity such that even a drummer that is sloppy on the pedals still can produce an artifically clean sound.
- The same sound is triggered every time, a bit hit like hitting the note each time with auto-tune.
...
Of course this influences sound.

@Hail Coitus with triggers like this it doesn't matter what drum kit youre using because every kit sound the sames. A cheap kit will be able to sound like this because of the programmed sound. His bass drums sound so bad and its pretty annoying. I dont care triggers, but when you set the sensitivy at max man it doesn't sound good at all

I thought the exact same thing! It's like a whole generation of YT haters forgot that 2004 happened. The issue is the lesser informed drummers don't understand heel-toe technique. I can see why it looks like he's cheating, but as I say 'film yourself doing the same thing to a click track at this BPM, or stfu' much, much harder than it looks. (Otherwise we'd all be be on DFH!)

This guy is an awesome fucking drummer. You gotta be, to play in Suffo. I don't understand why people are doggin on his foot technique. Heel-toe double strokes, are fucking hard to get down. Are these drummers that are actually commenting on this fact? And, please stfu about triggers already. They're a necessary technology, to facilitate this type of music.. Without them, you wouldn't hear shit.. Even Gene Hoglan uses triggers, and that fucking guy can kick a bass drum across the room.. I gotta say tho.. I really miss Mike Smith. None of his predecessors can blast the way he did. His blasts were the loudest I've ever heard. But, I digress..
people just don't understand what triggers do. It's just ignorance. Thomas Haake to me seems like he can play some drums and live he uses samples of his Superior Drummer sample library. People just don't understand what triggers can and can not do. It's been a discussion for about 20 years.
It's a push pull tecn ... hell/toe is a double stroke with less control ... push pull is a single stroke ... RL with heel and RL with toe and not RR with heel LL with toe (JOJO MAYER II DVD)

Been a fan sine the Blind Witness days, took a skype drum lesson with him and I assure you noobs, this guy is the real deal and the triggers are simply for sound quality, learn to play.
Triggers are not only for sound quality, theyre for even hits when playing unevenly, aka when using heel toe. You cant get good sounding hits without cranking up the sensitivity on triggers if youre using doubles, meaning theyre not only for good sound.

I have no problem with triggers for this kind of music. I do think that you should be familiar with not using them though for speeds less than around 220 bpm. If you play any other style of music, it's hard to adapt to getting the power you need.
