Its a decent bird. I aint a huge fan of the FW-190's, but this was one of my favourite variants. Its versatility was great to have if someone runway/space camped.

IMHO 190sA needs some buffes in climb, acceleration and energy retention. In reality they could compete with an mk9 in climb, acceleration and vertical energy retention. Lots of people complain about atom's turn time, but above 420km/h with take off flaps (20 degrees) they can keep up with a mk9: the divergence between in game and real life is that in real life the high acceleration / maneuvering energy retention helped them not loosing a lot of speed and gave them the time to get a shot. If with those buffes atoms would be OP just increase their br. Put the A4 to 4.7, the A5 to 5.0 and remove the air spawn from the A8. (with this comment i don't say that now they aren't good at their br, i'm just saying that is un historical that a fw190a has worse energy retention/ acceleration /climb / sustained turn time than a corsair or a thunderbolt.)
yeah, agreed! they dont say for nothing the battle of britain would have fallen the other way if germany had the 190 availeble. Which would have been possible had the project been pushed a bit.
@@jengar6258 yeah. It was not pushed since it was supposed to be a fighter good but not as capable as the 190e... in reality German officers were surpriesed by 190's capabilities. The 109 was able to get performance on par with the 190A4 (1941) only with the F4/G2 1942 planes, and eventually get the advantage in 1944 with g14s, g10s and k4s... only because in 1944 the 190s were not upgraded since the ta-152 was in development.
Spitfires got performance comparable with the fw190 only by late 1942, with mk9s with the merlin 61.
If the fw190s was ready not by early 1941s but by september 1940 the Luftwaffe would have had a fighter, better performance apart, much better suited for escorting mission. The fw190a had better visibility, so it could spot incoming spitfires mk1/hurricanes earlier, usually when engaged fighter that were escorting bombers in ww2 had less energy than fighters on the defensive, so a plane that can survive some hits at first is well appreciated. IMHO the 109 shined with performance only from 1943, were it showed his capabilities in the role of an interceptor, with his excellent performance and low autonomy. In the early war it had tons of success because other countries fighters sucked in comparison, but still the German fighter wasn't used on it's strengths/at full potential.
Was LF MK9 as op in real life? My research indicates it was operational in late 1943 (Merlin 66) and at the time if performance was like in game no german fighter would be a treat

Agree! I use this all the time in ground RB. Bomb can be deveststing, and it's great for clearing out enemy air

I enjoyed grinding for all the skins for this plane. Theyre some of the nicest looking skins in the game in my opinion. Gotta have those style points!

Perfect timing i just got my fw190 f8

This is the only plane in Sim mode I managed to bring home missing BOTH wingtips after an unfortunate meeting with a spit. I wasn't giving it 2 cents against the A5/U2 but had to reconsider myself. Incredible machine, also it's slower on paper but I noticed it actually accelerates faster at low altitudes than the A5s, this explains the slightly better climbrate.
Also it has cool skins, +100 points

Love the spiral in the propeller. Wish it could be added to more planes because some you can't like the ki-44. You can put it in the skin but it doesn't work when it is spinning. Great to see you back jengar. Love the fw 190.

About to get this, didn't know it's such a big upgrade from the A8, considering the max speed you can pull off in a dive.
I was originally focused on getting the Horten first, but i might get this first instead.
Like both the Fw190-s and the Ho229. (played a lot against the latter too, such a misused plane)
Happy to see that you are getting back into youtube again and knowing you are well because you were out for 5 months before this video. I am recommending going over some planes that had a br change or that a plane was moved into a spot where it is clubbing other players. Keep up the good work!

Hey, I suggest you try the Br. 693 added to the French tech tree a couple months ago. It's a beast at its br, with insane turnrate, good acceleration and speed, good firepower (as long as you don't mind having your aim a little lower than usual) and good tanking capabilities.

Have you considered playing IL-2? I haven't played it myself yet, because I am saving up to buy a decent gaming monitor and a Track-IR, but I have watched many videos lately and I have to say, ever since, I feel no desire to ever play War Thunder again.
Those planes and air combat seem so much more fun and more rewarding in a good simulation. The mere fact alone that damage models and the effects of weapons are simulated realistically, makes such a huge difference. Seeing a hit from a 30mm Mienengeschoss just rip fighters apart is so satisfying. Even the German 13mm guns are devastating, which is really weird to someone like me, who only knows them as the useless, harmless tracer dispensers they are in WT.
I also started understanding so much more about air combat and the strengths and weaknesses of certain planes, since looking into IL-2.
For example, in WT I never really could figure out how to use the Typhoon and the Tempest properly. They aren't good turn fighters, they aren't great energy fighters, they aren't great boom and zoomers. Basically, the only thing they do well is fly fast in a straight line and that just isn't worth much in the WT Meta. Accordingly you always see Typhoon players go for the easy kill on some attacker at the beginning of the match and then just die themselves.
In IL-2 that high speed in a straight line is actually really useful and you start to understand what the point of those planes was in reality.
Like 4 out of 5 kills in IL-2 are people sneaking up on a target that didn't see them, creep close from the Low 6 and blast them at close range. It is all about situational awareness, checking your 6 and not letting anyone sneak up on you.
And the Tempest is really good at that. The high level flight speed is super useful for getting into those sneaky Low 6 positions before the other guy notices you and then just tear him to pieces with your 4 Hispanos at a range of 300 meters or so.
Other big differences are stuff like that German fighters have no silly overheating problems, like in WT, which is totally unrealistic, because the method they used to boost their engine power, the "MW-50" water injection, actually not only gave them more power, but it also cooled the engine down. So even if you don't need extra power, but want to cool your engine down because your radiator is damaged, or something, you could use MW-50 for that.
Meaning, if War Thunder were realistic, German fighters would actually cool down when using "WEP", instead of overheating as they do.
Another thing that is really weird to WT players is how in IL-2 the Bf 109 K-4 is a real monster that can play cat and mouse with P-47s, Spitfires and Mustangs, when flown correctly.
Every plane in IL-2 really has their own strengths and weaknesses and whether it is balanced or OP is only determined by how smart the pilot using it is.
A pilot who knows what he is doing can make every plane OP and the game works without any dumb, unrealistic counters being introduced.
Planes only fight other planes they actually met in reality. Nobody has to fight post war UFOs in wartime fighters and Korea War planes aren't used to "balance" WW2 fighters.
Even the Me 262 fighting P-51 Ds and P-38s works and doesn't ruin the balancing, because people in the game do the same thing real pilots in real history did, they attack the Me 262 when it is vulnerable during start and landing. Landing that thing is a real challenge and takes a long time and careful planning, since it is pretty much impossible to spool up the turbines again, once you slowed them down.
When IL-2 brings us a M&K realistic mode then i will consider trying it, and in my opinion, only when that happens, will Il-2 become a true competitor to WT.
@@jengar6258 I don't really look at it from a competition perspective.
The two are not the same genre. IL-2 is not a "Arena Shooter" type of game, it is a simulation with a multiplayer mode.
I look at it from a "what is more fun?" perspective.
The question is just, what brought you to WT?
Was it just the prospect of measuring yourself against other players in an Arena type of game, or was it that you are into WW2 military aircraft?
If it is the latter, then you'll probably have more fun with IL-2 than you ever did with WT, because WT sacrifices and compromises so much of what makes WW2 air combat interesting and fun, to cram it into the Arena Shooter genre.
IL-2 doesn't need to do that, being a simulation. There is no grind, no artificial balancing, no nerfing or buffing...
The maybe biggest difference and biggest boon for IL-2 is just the fact that there is no time limit.
In WT you always have the problem that you can't fly certain aircraft as they are supposed to be flown, because you don't have the time.
If you want to set up properly for Boom and Zoom attacks in a slow climber like the FW 190, you usually run into the problem that the battle is pretty much over at the time you get into position. And then, even if you have the time and the targets to do 2 or 3 dive attacks, they inevitably see you coming.
In IL-2 the only thing that limits you is how much fuel you have in the tank and maybe whether you still can see your targets when it gets dark.
You have all the time in the world to set up proper attacks and execute them and you even have the time to do the "Zooming" after the "Booming", meaning, you can actually extend away and set up the next attack without running out of time or map.
Long story short, if you are in it for the planes and/or for the immersion, IL-2 just gives you so much more.
If you are not in it for the planes, then the whole discussion is kind of moot anyways and the question is why you don't play any other Arena Shooter game over WT?
To be honest, I'm not even sure what you mean with "M&K realistic mode".
What I can tell you is that IL-2 has a persistent battle mode, where 2 teams with alternating players (people logging in and out as they please) fight each other till one team has destroyed enough of the other teams ground targets and depending on how the server is set up, that can take hours, days, or in theory even weeks.
And even when you play as a ground attacker or bomber, hunting moving trains with realistic damage models, or taking out factories building by building, or hunting for hard to spot tanks and other vehicles that hide in forests is definitely more fun than just dropping bombs on orange markers on the map, as you do in WT.
Just check out the videos on a channel called "Sheriff's Sim Shack" and tell me that doesn't look more fun than WT. I dare you, hehe.
M&K = Mouse and Keyboard. Im not a sim player, i dont have a joystick setup. I enjoy the history of ww2, the planes, and the feeling of flying WT gives, while being easy to jump in. So if IL-2 will get a mode like realistic battle in WT, with M&K. Only then will i look at it ;)
@@jengar6258 I haven't been a simulation player either, till now. As I said, I am still saving up to get a better monitor and Track-IR before I can really get into it.
I also just have a rather cheap joystick and don't intend to buy rudder pedals anytime soon. The twist-axis of the joystick is enough for a beginner like me.
To each their own, but because I like the flying aspect, I want more immersion and realism. I don't think you really get a feeling of flying from playing WT in RB mode. At best you get a feeling of holding a aircraft toy or model in your hand and imagining flying it, while making "bbbrrrrrr" noises with your mouth, hehehe.
You're a good pilot in WT. You had your "easy to jump in"-thing and you mastered it. What speaks against taking the next step?
It is like the difference between sitting in your garden behind your house and going camping. Bigger investment, higher reward, more fun, more sense of achievement.
And apparently IL-2 isn't actually that hard to get into. You just need to know a few basic things about your plane and how to manage it and that is part of the immersion, which is where the fun comes from.
I haven't played a serious flightsim yet, but I have played other games with complicated controls, like some submarine sims or stuff like Elite Dangerous. From experience I know that one just soaks up the complicated controls after a day or so, if your're having fun. On the second day most of it comes naturally and automatically already.
Although I sound like it, I'm not actually trying to talk you into it, if you don't want it. Just explaining my reasons for wanting to make the plunge and why I have a hard time understanding your total lack of interest.
As soon as I've finished researching the CL-13B Mk6 I'm grinding out the Fw's. I'd love to get back into props and these seem like the perfect aircraft!

Great job on the review. I really wish Gaijin would quit messing with the elevator authority on the 190 series. They've been under performing for quite some time now (after over performing somewhat) and it's getting tiresome waiting for the proper flight model. Has this changed yet IYO ? I really miss flying the D 9 because of this.

I very recently discovered your channel, and love it. I would classify myself as a very casual player who until recently only played AB. I used to play IL-2 online many years ago (pre 2011), but the game died out slowly and the community got very small. Anyway, I had never really played much RB because I keep trying to get my joystick to work, and that was a complete fail. I started playing a lot of WT about two years ago after getting tired of WoT. Even though I have lots of games in WT, I still don’t understand why certain things about the game, like what exactly are the differences between AB and RB, and how realistic the flight models are. I have tried repeatedly to get my old IL-2 Squadron mates to play WT, but they do not like the mouse control system, and I have tried to explain it is not bad, but they want to use a joystick, which I tell them it will be a huge disadvantage if they do, what when they see I am right they are not interested in WT. Maybe do a video on how the game works as you understand it.
Thats a very broad video, there's so much content in here that i dont play: Tanks, ships, helicopters. But i'll think about it for air.

Problem of FW-190 F-8 and A-8 is they fighting against ultra fighters like F4U on BR 5.7 which is not ideal in my opinion. Meanwhile something like P-51 D30 still sitting on 5.0 when it deserve at least 5.3 or 5.7

I reckon the a8 is the better of the two. At 5.0, nobody takes them seriously. There is nothing quite as funny as luring a cocky Griffon into scissors and making them dissolve with 4 x 20mms

One of my favourite FW-190s, definitely my top 3 (among A5/12 and D-13).
FW-190 is generally my favourite plane both in the game and irl.
But I prefer stealth ammo, works really well.

My favourite 190 is the d9... I took it into 9.0 battles ones with my friend in the me 163 b-0 and got 3 kills. Pretty funny to see the enemies reaction to that!

Great Vid as always! - thanks and welcome back, Jengar! As I can see you have mostly a ping of 10 to 20. Please tell me your experience when it goes over 100 (as I have always). Does it impact your shooting? I have severe probs to get guns working then ... Greets
I know high ping affects larger cannons more substantially than mg's like 50cals. When your ping is high, switch over to a plane with mg's instead, and I would bet you'll have better luck.
10 much better then 100 of course, but i feel its still doable at 100. At 150-200 it becomes really annoying.

Not the best 190 but not the worst to me.The D9 is better overall cause its faster and it has the same guns as this one. If not that id use the A8 more cause of the firepower. But its always an amazing video

In the fighter role the A8 appears to be better in speed, turning, climbing and armament and it gets the airstart as well - so I never bothered with this guy.
