Hey guys, another great 109 today in this realistic review, the Bf 109 F-1. This epic piece of german engineering deserved some more attention from me! Hope you enjoy! :) dont forget to like, comment, watch till the end and subscribe.

Manuel Engine Control, 100% Radiator and you can WEP whitout overheating
@@lynx_eyed9623 Well, that's true, but 100% radiator produces almost as much drag as WEP gives you extra power, so it's not very efficient. You may as well not have WEP and switch off the radiator.

5-10% oil radiator 10% . manual propeller pitch 35-40% . WEP only initial power level XD because noone know there are more level of WEP like there is 101% throttle 100% throttle writed red color, initial and full WEP :p and use only max speed with 5-10 degree max of reclimb

This now sits at 2.3. It is amazing. Just flew a match in it. The energy retention is magic. Can outclimb anything and it feels smoother than the E models.

I'm relatively new to warthunder but this plane has been the most fun to fly. I already liked the earlier 109's but this one was a big step up. the super accurate stream of death this thing brings is so satisfying. the only grievance i have with it is the lack of ammo since i'm still not very good at aiming.
never use gunpods in RB, it destroys your performance! and yeah mein fuhrer, of course the luftwaffe stands ready to practice this aiming thingy with you. You will be marvelous at it eventually of course :)
Yep. Gunpods NEIN DANKE in RB. For the extra ammo the profound deterioration in performance just aint worth it.

Thankfully i'm not completely terrible at aiming, i still get around 2 kills every match and you can make the mg's work once you run out of cannon ammo
I like it on the K-4. It's already not the absolute best at anything anymore by that point, so I feel that loading it up with a 30mm and two 20mm gives you something to really have as your own compared to allied fighters. it's just a hail of buckshot to enemy planes that dare to cross your flight path.
Ah yes, the plane that never fails to make me regret starting with the Swedish line and not starting with the German line

Always love your vids. When you show an RB match it always looks exciting. When I play RB the opponents just fly around their air field and hope the AAA shoot you down.
maybe thats because i often am the last guy left on my team, and they realise i wont be comming to their airfield to fight them all there ;)

Coming back to your reviews, 6 years later! After getting back into WT recently. Always solid advice on how to utilise the plane effectively!
Couldn't agree more mate, GREAT fun all round. When you're grinding up and you get to this one it ALL becomes clear, don't it?!!
Also good to see the classic 'Jengar Head on' Technique with the Typhoon!!
All definitely becomes clear then ;) head ons are invalueable for reversing 1 vs many situations. I used to die from it a lot, i kept practicing, and i've come to a point that i only very rarely die from it.
... and from what I can see you pretty much always get at least a hit even if you don't get the kill. Good to see. How's the kid by the way? Managed to get to your PC yet? That'll be the next, trust me!!
Yeah definitely, almost always get them hits and crits in :) He's hammering the spacebar a lot yes ;) but the pc is still alive :) thank god!
Finally got around to working through the German aviation tree, and have to say I instantly love the E-1 and the F-1. What great planes!

I love how you need all 60 rounds for a 1 kill...

Idk how, but suddenly today i got a lot of good games in the F-1 and E-3. Yesterday it took me a few 'passes' to kill a helpless bomber, now one or two is enough. Something apparently snapped into my hand and made my aim significantly better.
Also, if you struggle with the F-1 due to the low ammo count, be a bomber bully. You're faster than the E-3 and could climb faster, which means:
Killing bombers is even easier >> Lots of kills = Lots of RP >> You could get the F-4 faster

In simulator, I have scored many kills with this beauty, I find it performs better than many 5.0 aircraft like the F4U-4 or P-51D, it has better visibility due to a lack of pilot armor (which is unnecessary for good pilots anyway) it’s engine is very good and it climbs extremely well, and it has high wing rip speeds, as well as very little compression, even at high speeds, it is a great all around fighter, it is both faster and turns only a second slower than a stock spitfire when spaded
DO NOTE:
The flaps are slow to deploy and have lower rip speeds than comparable aircraft, during landing, it has a tendency to bounce and break the propeller when slightly over landing speeds, and although the guns are excellent, use ammo sparingly

I think the problem was mostly the low ammo count and low velocity. Plus, at the time of writing my technique was very basic.
Now I'm mostly flying the bf 109 f4 and it's a joy. The 200 rounds of mg151 are deadly and I think I've got a lot of the energy fighting technique down too.
I tried going back to the f1 to see if I had really improved and the plane flies well but the main limit to my performance was the low velocity and low ammo count on the cannon.

Today I just played 3 hours of F-1. It's astonishing the amount of enemies you can energy trap and how you can outclimb and outrun fighters with a spaded plane and MEC.
You learn this stuff when you realize you must be doing something wrong in your F4/G2, but just a few decide to go back and apply this tactics to the best 2.3 plane
I find that the low ammo count, low velocity, and high lethality of the cannon on this plane makes it great practice for using the Mk 108 on later 109s, which has similar ballistics. fights are moving faster then, true, but this still gives you a chance to practice in friendlier matchmaking

Isnt it funny that they only stuck 60 rounds for the 20mm in the plane instead of 200 like with the mg151? The mgff/m in the f1 is the beltfed variant, and the ammo is the same size as the f4s...
damn i didnt know that, im now imagining this plane with 200 rounds :P

Just started aviation in WT, I know this vid is old, but I’m really enjoying the 109’s, much more than the US line I started on
But I’m still in AB until I get better at the controls and nuances of flight, will move to RB once I get my flight stick throttle and rudder pedals and then hopefully, eventually I get to SB
The 109 seems to perform exactly the opposite as its shown in this vid, its slow, sluggish horrible climb rate, bleeds off energy super fast and the guns do next to nothing. Dont know wtf I'm doing wrong
mine too, i have no problem with the guns but the rest is true its a nightmare compared to other 109s E`s or F`s but she is at BR 2.3 now and maybe Gajin balanced the Plane a bit ;) so that the F-1 is not too OP in RB at 2.3.
Every 109E is faster and climbs better then my F-1 i tested it several times
You forget the fast overheat problem its like flying a melting pot
I try not to spray a lot in this plane, it’s honestly one of my favorite 109s. If you conserve the cannon ammo you can get a lot of kill, I think my best game was an ace and I still had 15 cannon rounds left over. If you wait till the right second you can use minimum ammo and the explosive in the air target belts are amazing, they are like nuke rounds at low tier.

Great aircraft with a very low battle rating. Its like a very fast He 112 A-0.
Play the F-4 in case you didn't yet, that plane clubs everything. I use it to grind lions.

Hi Jengar. Found your channel a few months ago, love watching your videos they've really helped me with this game. Not sure if you've already done this but it would be great if you could post something to go through your mouse and keyboard control layout as that is something i could really do with to not get my hands tied up in a match. I'm a ps4 player and recently got a mouse and keyboard to use instead. Thanks!
cheers christopher, mouse and keyboard is definitely going to help, basics, put throttle up on left shift and down on left ctrl. Put pitch up on s and pitch down on w, reload on r, flaps on f, personally i've put yaw left and right on side mousebuttons :) c= camera control. i would also make sure to put firing the smaller calibers on a separate key which is comfortable for you.

i agree that the 109 has a inferior turn tim compared to its opposition but when you look at it over all then the plane can turn very well with or without flaps
the plane has many other qualities that should be abused first before ending up turning with someone ;)

Whenever im flying my griffon spit i get super excited when i see a free bf109 kill cookie
hehe, that all depends on the pilot, meet the wrong one and that free cookie will bite you in the ass ;)

I have the highest kill count on this plane: 433. It's like going one step-up. Also, I mastered defensive flying in this aircraft. Overheats though.

im working on it atm, but the plane has been terrible for me so far, great flightmodel, bad stopping power, lots of hits, and lots of uptiers to 9.0.
At start I didnt like the Bf109s... I had no idea about energy fighting, the game ws about turn fighters for me. Now I think they on par with respective spitfires. Lovely planes. Jengar, you dont have a video with Bf109F2, do you?

This machine! I have never paid any attention to this machine. Until I wanted to spade it. and OH BOY! I had a ton of fun. then I took out the F2 and I was disgusted with that thing. but this machine is amazing
Dennis Van Der Wijst Try the F-4. That one is amazing with the MG151 carrying 20mm Minengeschoss rounds.
the F2 Bf109 is the only one I hate, I have all the other Bf109s spaded and they have a soft spot in my heart! (looks especially)
109's is one of my favorite line of planes :)

Isn't boom and zooming kind of energy fighting? Higher altitude, dive down get some shots and then go back up
The ps4 version is hard AF. I’m yet to still get the hang of the controls after a long time. Gets out maneuvered a lot despite it’s faster than most planes

listen, i prefer the mg 151's as well, but the minnengeschoss shells in these cannons do their work. The aiming is up to us though ;) and it does have low firerate and low velocity this cannon. That makes it a bit harder.
