This is one of my personal favorite aircraft in the game. The A8 is what I like to call 'The Enemy Is About To Have A Very Bad Day' plane.

I call 190s the "planes try to evade your boom and zoom or intercepting runs but you predicted their flight path and pointed your gums there in advance and you also set up vertical convergence to help the bad elevator and you also set your shoot button to delete button just for the taunt" plane. Even a sharp pull from a zero can do nothing.
I also like to call this plane "that one time I brought full tank to try out the flight characteristics and got dived on by a p51d30 and almost ripped my right wing off but I somehow scissored with him and actually was winning him and then he tried to break free with a turn but then I followed and he did scissors again and he died" plane
I think the fw 190 a8 was designed for being a bomber hunter
most antons are over armed for fighter vs fighter fights. IRL often times the 109s took on the escorts and the 190s the bombers.
Most German fighters were designed for bomber hunting. In fact, the 109s guns were chosen because they could shoot down a bomber from outside of the range of the bombers defensive guns
in this game bombers are faster than this plane

The higher tier 190As are some of the most frequently underestimated planes in the game. Oh sure they’re harder to use effectively than the 109s, but when you make them work...hoo boy.

Out of curiosity, what are your key bindings for flight controls, considering you use the mouse to control the camera.
I understand this plane don´t have best climb rate, because it have lof of guns so it´s heavy, but maneuverability is horrible. In games like il-2 Sturmovik is FW-190 A-8 much more maneuverable than in WT. Elevator is still very bad. Situations like 4:54 when you can´t aim because that controls not respond or something.
thats exactly why you keep the 190s above 400kph, cuz if u go slower than that ur elevator is pretty bad
But you also need to keep it below 700 km/h because then the control stiffening really kicks in
@@rjgamer2206 Firepower of this plane is huge, but there is not much you can do if you meet experienced player for example with P-51 D30. Only crazy player accept headon with A-8.....most of players will dodge. But I just don´t understand why you can´t aim.....there must be some problem. I read some books about FW-190 and their pilots loved this fighter. In low and medium altitudes it was very maneuverable plane. Gaijin just made this plane as brick. Even F4U Corsair have 4 cannons and lot of armor, but elevator always working.
@@Mark49007 Agreed! German ace Adolf Galland used to say a single Fw-190 could replace 5 bf-109, which should be phase out by '43.

I have to say the 190s are my favorite planes in the German tech tree
Just a little correction on the level flight speeds. This thing will clock 582km/h at sea level making it the 2md fastest 190A behind the F8. You do get heavier but you get a much more powerful engine.
This plane is fantastic. It's one of the most underestimated opponents in the game. Griffons, p51's and 47's, I shred them regularly, all because they don't take it seriously. Scissors for the win folks.

I love the A8. Amazing plane. The people that say that the 190 is crap are the guys that are crap themselves at the game. The 190 is overall great, its just common sense to bmz with it

I think the f 8 is the best fw
I believe it is better than F4U-1, but when the P-47B first arrived in Europe, the pilots did not agree the Fw 190 was better. At the time, the Fw 190 dominates the sky and the Spitfire V could not effectively engage it. I guess P-47 is always great :)
Despite P-47B is not in the game :(

I wouldn't commit to a head-on against a F4U cause those American 20mms are faster than German 20mms so you have to disengage earlier than him.

Agree it’s one of the more challenging FWs to fly. Overall I find it’s outmatched by allied fighters of comparable BR.
Good guns, but go D9 or one of the 190/U models that climb faster and have the excellent roll rate.
It’s ok but if I want a heavy 190 I’d prefer taking out the F8 and use as ground attack.

And a Spitfire comes outta nowhere and decides to head on me. Normally I’d try to avoid one but I didn’t have much engine power left (a P51 nicked my engine) so I had to commit. As expected, the four 20mms’ shred him to bits.
And he rages in the chat saying stuff like ‘No skill 190 head on fool’ and so on. Lol
I just felt like sharing that

Hey Jengar, a little tip on the "rip speed"/"maximum dive speed":
You only really get a trully dangerous "Reduce Speed" warning after you reach/exceed the speed listed after you break your wing from over speeding. For example: on the Yak 3VK said speed is 720kph IAS, so you can safely go up to 719kph IAS. On the I-225 it is 820kph IAS, so it is "safe" up to 819kph IAS (It is "safe" because you will not break from over speeding, but you lose nearly all your elevator authority)
Note that the "extreme (wing) overload" is DIFFERENT from the "Reduce Speed"!
I prefer the F-8 more, since it rolls better and overall performs better from my experience along with the ground armament. Even if the guns are less numerous, 2 MG151s are enough to get work done.
Have you done a vid on the Yak-30 in RB, btw? Because that's somethting I'ld love to see your input on, along with the F-8 compared to the A-8!

Bruh but the F-8 reaches like 585km slow af specially for a Tier IV plane.
i love the a8. climbs like a rocket, amazing energy and can dogfight spits. i usually climb straight to the battle. most allied teams would have dived for ground attackers by then.

I feel like some 6.0 Axis planes would solve a lot of problems. Bearcats and P-51H's would have some counters in 6.3 matches, while they would also be able to compete with the 5.7 spitfires (although honestly the G 55 and 56 are pretty good at countering the early griffons as is, and experienced 109K pilots can also compete with the early griffons). These aircraft would also help stop the Spitfire mk 22 and 24 from constantly getting uptiered and facing jets. They would also give the Bf-109K and Fw-190D's something to support in an uptier, rather than forcing them to be frontline fighters in a full uptier. And finally, these aircraft might be able to do something about B-17 and B-29 spam prematurely ending matches. Allied 6.0 would also eventually be pretty nice but I don't think it's that much of a priority. Also, allied 8.7 is EXTREMELY necessary because F-84G's are destroying allied 7.0. Perhaps the A-5 sabre and F9F could be 8.7, for a start.
Did like spading this thing. Once i got the 20mm belts anything that stupidly went for a head on just... melted. Did have a lot of fun with the plane, till i got uptiered to fight F8F's mind you...but i dont mind losing a bit of roll rate, for more dakka! The F-8 was a lot of fun as well, with those 30mm ultra dakkas it was hilarious splitting bombers in two with a single burst!
I prefer using this aircraft as more of a "parasite". Fly in mid to low altitudes avoiding combat, and pick enemy targets fleeing away from combat on low altitude. Since germany usually dominates the high altitudes and drags the enemies down, this tactic usually grants me one or two kills per match.

Which is better. Bf109 or Fw190? I don't know what to grind.
If you have the patience to learn fw 190 go fw190. Only shoot at 400. That's a golden rule or you will waste your time. Also learn how to do reversals. Choose the lonely planes as your bnz first target, take almost every head on. Do not follow in a turn after bnz. Do not be afraid to use your flaps. Do not be afraid to follow after the plane diving on you pulled up using flaps. Always use wasd to get yourself on target as the rudder locks up. Always predict the enemy flight path. Use vertical targeting if you want to.
The earlier 109s are easy to use. They are no brainers. They turn decently, they out climb everything. So the only thing you have to be afraid of is ripping your wings at 800km/h or your combat flaps. Your biggest danger is that your team dove and decimated but some enemies doesn't show up. This meant that they have side climbed and will probably decimate you. So, early game dive and pull up. Late game attack like piranhas

The A-8 definitely isn't a "good" plane-it has two many weaknesses and needs too much effort to be meta. But its got to one of the most fun planes in the game... all those cannons and the trademark 190 roll rate means you can do all sorts of crazy stuff with it

I'm conflicted between buying the premium US version of this and the russian P63.
Both well within the Bf109 spam territory, but i think i'm a little better with the Fw-s, like their looks, playstyle, armaments and just about everything about them more, but the P63-s are more meta-friendly.
Wondering which one is worth it more for their battle ratings.
I found that climbing with the P63-s can be a complete waste of time, considering Bf-s at their br. still outclimb them and outperform them, last time i used a P63 in RB it was the french one and i didn't have the Energy Injection modification yet, but i suspect i wouldn't have outclimbed any Bf-s with it anyway.
Interestingly, there's barely any video about the russian P63, even though on paper it has a way better flight performance than Pokryshkin-s P39 at the same br., better rewards too.
I assume it's identical to the US one.

The poor A-8 has to be one of the most trash planes in sim. Loses all of its speed in any turn, doesn't climb when the rudder is at full deflection, hard to keep on target, falls out of the sky at 300 km/h.
It's tied with the spitfires in garbageness, really.

@@jengar6258 It's sometimes weird how differently planes perform in SB and in RB, considering they are supposed to have the same flight model.
I watch your videos quite a bit to get the speed values and limits though :)
I have used the A-8 and A-5 at SB, elevator's not an issue there anymore, only the rudder which acts as an airbrake during use.
At SB the butcher bird have good energy retention even on horizontal maneuvers, provided that the use of rudder is minimum to almost none. Once you use it at full deflection, all that speed is lost.

its because it excells in rollrate and firepower, and that combo is lethal when you're devensive flying. The other person usually only has to overshoot once, and that does usually happen ;)

Jengar I noticed that in all your videos you specify the top speed at altitudes with and without WEP,and you always say that the planes get slower with altitude,but you specify the IAS which is always equal or less than the actual speed,and it always decreases with altitude.That means the planes are usually faster at altitude,and you have been living a lie lol

Me whenever I fly this thing:
*XP-55 snaps my right wing while shooting from the left*
*Plane snaps itself into a flatspin and straight into the ground whenever I try to roll and dodge enemy fire*
*Literally every enemy plane can maneuver just enough to get guns on target despite literally losing their entire left/right wing, whereas I'd immediately end up in a flatspin*

.3 BRs higher are the Dora's so I see no reason to use it
A-8 has a superior armament to the Doras, and that .3 BR can make a hell of a difference in the MM.
