    We can do the valve clearances and throttle body balancing at Beechdale Motorcycles, that way I can guarantee it'll be done properly (remember I've met a lot of "can't be bothered" mechanics in my time). After that I'll book it in as a last resort just because they have the BMW contacts and computer. Thanks for the advice Nigel.

    @nikoscosmos and MrEunuch ..Thanks for that, the GS is getting nice and cold in Beechdale Motorcycles as we speak and will be "seen to" tomorrow morning. Keep your fingers crossed and keep them tips coming.

    I never owned a bike with ABS but have ridden a few. My take on ANY rider aid is that it is a good thing as long as it's not relied upon (i,e riding faster thinking you're safer) then it's a good thing. I have traction control on my bike and if it kicks in, it's saved me cos I've pushed the bike too far. Look at airbags in cars, you hope you never have to use it don't you? :-)

    @bluenapalm123 - hehe, deffo Linz for sure :-D I've subscribed to her, have a look at her reviews on lady clothing and her riding Darth. Her TH-cam name is BikerChickVids. I didn't mention in the video the light does flash until the wheels turn, then the check is complete and it goes off. The K1200S I took in PX for the GS does the same (phew) Thanks for your comments. :-)

    I tend to keep the rpm between 3-4000 except when there is a long period in a 40mph zone where I might drop down t0 2000.

    Must definitely set the valve clearances and the cam shaft end float tight on a cold engine. my 1150GS sounded like a bag of nails last summer following a dealer service and now runs sweetly without surging after I had spent time doing it myself!

    Hi, really enjoyed your video...I am looking at getting into some vlogging on my Harley...already have a HD bullet camera for my lid, was wondering what tech you are using for recording your voice?...any recommendations on what I could go for would be appreciated!

    Nice new mule ;-). I'm on my 3rd GS now (didn't get on with the 1150 and the 1st of the 1200's was written off hitting a dear) and they are an acquired taste for sure, but it has to be the most versatile and fun bike I've ever owned ticking way too many boxes that something this unattractive has any right to. Assuming you have no engine wooes once you learn to trust that front end and have road tyres (I use Road Pilot front / Pilot Road 2 rear) you'll grow to love it. Great for tutoring.

    I hired a 1200GS for the day in Austria once, rode the Reschenpass and Stelvio and Umbrail passes and a good bit more besides, and that's my entire riding history of the bike. FWIW, I'd be a little concerned over the 'hunting' and slipping out of gear issues, but I reckon you pretty much hit the nail on the head at 6.20 - 6.30... Have fun - I certainly did! :-)

  • @RoadcraftNottingham
    @RoadcraftNottingham  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    No, it's the fuel injection model, although, running like that I think I'd have preferred the old bing carbs. :-)

    Does this R1200GS has a lowered seat? I'm 5'85 with a 31 inseam and I wonder how easy is the reach to the ground. Keep up the good work!

  • @RoadcraftNottingham
    @RoadcraftNottingham  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't think it's limited to just BMWs, almost all F.I bikes I've ridden seem lumpy compared to carbs.

  • @MagicAyrtonforever
    @MagicAyrtonforever 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Automatic choke? Has it got carburettors then? My GS is a 2010 and it's very smooth.

    I'm a new rider, I thought it was me, or the bike. as I seem to suddenly miss a gear, or get neutral for no reason. Im changing up at 12,000 RPM when it does this, and the bike screams in to neutral

    Hmm, still wondering wether to get the GS, or a XL1000 Varadero or even a VFR800 Crossrunner. Coming from a Transalp 2009, I am looking for something with a bit more "power". I have sort of fallen in love with the Crossrunner and its frantic Vtec V4 engine, but want to try the Bmw first.
