Your comment reminded me: A few days ago I was visiting a friend in a nicer part of town. On the bulletin board near the concierge's desk I saw a hand written ad that simply read, "Kidney needed, please call..." Hahahaha!!!
I work at ups and found a crate from Rock Island Auctions last night. My coworkers didn't believe me when I told them that the crate might hold some very rare firearm.
Travis King i work at UPS too, i think if you found it without a High Value barcode it was probably just a couple hundreds worth. I moved 4 boxes of 1000 7.62x39 today
These auction houses should probably pay Ian some commission. I'll bet there's a serious "Forgotten Weapons effect" at play here at these auction prices.
I very much doubt that. There might be some effect, but most of the people who show up at these and have the money to actually bid probably do most of their own research instead of following a guy on TH-cam
Wonder if LifeSizePotato snatched up the Korth to put some “ancient extinct rarer than moon rocks” ivory grip panels on and make us all feel like peasants with our collections. I really miss that guy.
he's very active in Reddit, he already review manurhin mr93 in reddit p.s: he's actually wanted back making a video, it's just he lazy making video thanks his in-depth research & youtube policy that make him thinking twice to make video in youtube
I believe the exact wording was "buy for the gun, don't buy for the story", and it was referring to the stories that come with some guns like someone big deal did some great deed with this particular rifle in a particular battle that sorta thing.
Wasn't that about a gun with questionable provenance as in "Don't buy this based on the provenance because it is questionable?" Don't have a link by chance?
Another bonus about getting the Korth from the auction: the current models differ from that one quite a bit: for instane the grip panels are black and the cocking surface is in a classic slanted rectangle instead of that interesting hexagonal shape (altough still done in that really cool circular stippling)
I would imagine this is part of the reason why the auction houses let Ian do these videos. They are free advertising for both the lot and the auction house.
A well know fact about auctioneering is that the more in known about an object, the more it is likley to sell for. This even applies to say a cheeseboard made by a 3rd grader, if the name and/or the palce it was made (and when) the more likley it is to sell.
Where would you buy antique guns that aren’t particularly rare? I am looking into purchasing an SMLE and I can’t find an auctions for them. Is there a way to get them for cheaper than the very few online auctions that I have seen? Most of them online sell for $600 or more which seems steep considering they were significantly less just a few years ago.
Ian, what do you make of the McCarty Revolver going for so much money versus, like you said, the Schulhof? Is it likely there were just two guys interested that kept driving the bid up or is it the uniqueness of the item that made the price go crazy?
The prices for the Schulhof and the Pritchard are way to low. Its is always noticable, that craftsmanship isn't as appreciated on those auctions as it should be. Considering the Schulhof being part of the early development of a semi-auto pistol it even has historical relevance. Ofcourse, the new owner will feel lucky not paying as much.
The colt proto of 1971, the product of a OG american company, trying to gain headway in a market their design teams were way out of sight with. Colts curse is that they will always sell 1911's, SAA's and of course the AR-15 platform. Must have been all the corruption in the company considering the adoption of the M16 was done through money. Its obvious, Vietnam comes by and the U.S adopts a 5.56s rifle, too cut through jungle brush? Has plastic parts? Don't even comment saying that was the way it had to be. The M16 has many great aspects, but in certain situations it doesn't, like a battle rifle does.
As a liker of rotary and turret actions on many manufactured items, I find the price of the first item reasonable but a bit high. I doubt there is much to be learned about manufacturing. But maybe it didn't happen that way as firearms are a niche. I just love most metallic manufactured items and how they were made. For me a double turret equals twice a facinating or 'twyste as Stoooopid' depending on lack of FAIL. Three axis rotation is nine times Genius or three squared 'STOOPID' ! It depends if it works or not. Keep up the good work.
Great show, big fan, BUT.... do you and Carl have to be so pedantic to pronounce Garand the way you do? Come on..... Please don’t tell me you guys also refuse to say “Minnie” ball or “carbeen”
phil brown You do realize the word corollary has two accepted pronunciations in almost any dictionary ? And thus the corollary of your statement has ancillae.
Thanks for the follow up, I usually link to the auction site from your videos if I see something interesting & check the asking $$$ so it was nice to find out the end result from the gavel. 🤔
The Korth PRS is a beautiful pistol
I read that as potato and had to double back to read this again.
I knew I shoulda sold my kidneys. Dang it man
Justin S I did, still didn’t win..... I feel funny.....

Hahahaha!!!
ALAPINO ugh, just ugh.
I don't care if its non-original, the wood furniture on that AR-10 is bloody nice looking.
Aaron Carter, sure is. 😁
I want to see a live stream of Ian just drinking and watching the auction while commenting on it.

Definitely like this wrap up style video
I tried to get the Korth, I really did, but there was a LOT of action on it. I had other guns higher on the priority list anyway.
Beautiful gun, at least you tried!
TheGoldenCaulk you jumped for the sun, my man. Still, good on you for trying.
@
Jonas
Under 4000? This gun costs 3425 Euro. Thats 4,120.08 Dollar. Plus you have to wait for the shipping and all the stuff.
0:00 That's the strangest "hi guys" I think Ian has ever uttered in one of these videos.
Wonder if LifeSizePotato snatched up the Korth to put some “ancient extinct rarer than moon rocks” ivory grip panels on and make us all feel like peasants with our collections. I really miss that guy.
Scott M what happened to the guy?
His videos were my gateway to Forgotten Weapons, I do wonder why he doesn't post videos anymore.
he's very active in Reddit, he already review manurhin mr93 in reddit

Bhimatama Indrana Reddit gun pages = cringe
Scott M yeah, I know that feel
14k for that OSS spy dart gun is pretty crazy
Ian always reminds us never buy something for provenance.
Since when lol link the video? He talks up the provenance on a HUGE number of guns and how that makes them more enjoyable as historical artifacts.
I believe the exact wording was "buy for the gun, don't buy for the story", and it was referring to the stories that come with some guns like someone big deal did some great deed with this particular rifle in a particular battle that sorta thing.

GamersBar, someone with lots of money wanted it really bad. Lol
If i had to decide between a car and one of those guns...
I would glady walk.
Two words: public transportation.
With such guns horses are better.
The car immediately depreciates on purchase. These firearms may gain value.
sadly I'd choose the car. because I need a new car

Love these auction price videos. It's like watching antiques road show but with guns.
Awesome video Ian ! Always wondered how much everything was going for. Keep the vids coming
Love these vids, every time Ian is like "ya wow I would have never paid that much"
Ian...very nice recap of the auction. Very cool...
Love the prices and your commentary on them.
Holy crap! Those Original Belgium FAL'S goes for $800,- here😲
I hope whoever bought the McCarty makes a shooting video with it, I really want to see that thing shot!
Wow that 1919 went for way more money than I would have thought. I have seen USGI guns go for less than that much less an Israeli.
I am glad I am not to the five digit point in my collecting... but I am getting much pickier (which means more time to save up between purchases).
I wonder if some buyers will pay a premium specifically for a gun featured by Ian?
Yes.
I would imagine this is part of the reason why the auction houses let Ian do these videos. They are free advertising for both the lot and the auction house.

Bonjournee, my fellow firearm fiends
AR 10's remind me of a early 70s radio with that woodgrain sort of still space age thing
HK SR-9 is so sexy. Little dissapointed that the stock is fake wood... well, I could live with that :)
You should put links to all the videos in the description
That’s a ton of leg work for something you could just search or find in his profile.
Always interesting to see what things go for.
Thanks for the pricing update!
I think people get caught up in the excitement of an auction sometimes, I mean the 1919 was more than most people would spend I am sure.
the Korth is so cool
Thank you.
I didnt see any High Points.....
The things I’d do for a Korth PRS
I tried to get the g series fal but once it got over 16 grand I bailed. Guess my tax return is just going to go towards a new machine gun, oh well.
Well Schulhof is a very funny name for a pistol, because of the fact that it means schoolyard in German.
sadly I'm only getting audio. the video isn't showing for some reason

can somebody write down the prices? in a reply comment? the video wasn't working for some reason. I could only get audio.
Fuckin hell those prices !
"People who really want the gun end up getting them"
Not if they're broke.
Just say thank to person uploaded link to Ian interview with vice

The only purpose that the McCarty Turret revolver has is to be a paper weight.... a very expensive paper weight 😂😝😂😝👏👏

wait wait wait.... the Danish m1, made in Italy??
I look at the prices and think they are ok. then I remember that its US$ and I should multiply it with Nine to get it in my own money.
Holly fuck 1265$ we can get these foe 150 - 500$ in switzerland
500 if they are mint with bayonet etc
Hey guuuys!!!!!! Lmao sounded like Eric Cartman
so many trips
What are those weapons worth?
What ever some one wants to pay for it.
How did the walker not get in here
I didn't do a video on it.
I want them all
Nice!

Thank you

Is the oss flying dragon your logo?
I don't get the point of a semiauto 1919 at all.
if these cheaper antiques still operated to shoot, ill buy it. maybe i'll think about it
0:36 Schulhof??? This means “school yard” in English. Who in all world would name a gun like this?
Death by snail huh 👍
"Hey ghurs... thay turk uhr jerbs..."
and here I was, thinking airsoftguns were expensive :-)
Literally the first second .... hey gäus.... what kind of accent is that jk of course
You don’t need all these old guns-just strong soviet AK and Makarov
A semi-auto 1919? Where's the fun in that? Might as well make it a single-shot at that point.
gyez
1000 like

Waches this see the price. WE NEED COMMUNISUM!!
Alas that tends to signal the end of private gun ownership....
Did I hear communism...?
Иосиф Сталин. NO! Uh, I mean he said... Communion.
