Nice video well conveyed. I have done this many times on my JK. I have never take off the axle nut. I have seen others do this as well, I just do not understand that extra step. I also recommend ditching the spline hub bolts and replace them with any auto store brand as they will be hex head.
Thank you! And yes I agree it's definitely an extra step, but I recommend removing the axle from the hub because it's easier to install the axle shafts into the carrier, that way you dont cut the inner axle seals when reinstalling. Because we all know those are not fun changing out 😂😂
Thanks for the video and your time. Why have the ball joint press if you're hammering the joints out? You say you like to use the press at the beginning of the video and show it laying under the jeep at the end. But I never see you using it. Did I miss it?
It was giving me all sorts of trouble trying to use. I've used them Before in the past and have had good luck, but using a little hammer force was just easier. The ball joint kit was a wore out one from AutoZone. Next time I do it I'll just buy a small press 😂😂
I typically use the press as well… worked well for me in the past… can be a bit of a bitch to line up, but works well… haven’t done it in the while; had a TJ back in the day… the kid just bought one for himself and need to do his! lol… that’s my project for today!!
Great video. Dam those C-clips come out easy when you don't have East coast rust on them....LOL.
Thanks! And yes they do! And the axles separate from the bearings with ease! Hahahaha

The way you hanmered the caps off the ujoint blew my mind mine were on so damn tight i hit it with everything
Yeah sometimes a little heat will help, or a press. I definitely got lucky with mine 😂🤙
I love how you used the bolts to get the bearings off.
Thank you!

Very helpful 👌
Thank you! Glad to hear it's still helping people 🤙🙏
I used a grinder with a cut off wheel.
That works also 👌👌
All while wearing Crocs!!! Nice.
Hahaha right! I love my crocs 😂😂
Gotta invest in a ball joint press my guy
I know, I had the rental from AutoZone and that just wasn't doing it 😂
Whats the part number on the Ujoint?
5-7166X and I put the link in the description 🤙🤙I only checked the fitment for my jeep 2013 Rubicon so verify fitment before purchasing
@@jku392adventures Thanks! ill be doing this same job here in a few weeks. Very helpful video
@@AdventuresWithRyanHanley your welcome! Happy to help! It's a fun job when things go smoothly! 👌👌🤞🤞
@@AdventuresWithRyanHanley also it's a good time to do ball joints if you have not done yet. I recommend ball joint eliminators
Wouldn't be most cheaper and faster just to buy a whole knew axle shaft ?
😂😂😂😂 I mean true, but sometimes your on the side of a trail and you need to fix it
Faster and easier yessir. Cheaper, not so much. Price dana axles and you will see. You could get a $100 axle assembly but it is not dana spicer.
Very very true!
Good video, but it's definitely not a rust belt vehicle.
@fitzmeister5992 yeah I'm lucky for that, I'm from Ohio and everything I had when I lived there was rusty 😂😂
