    I absolutely love volunteers 🤗 You never know what you're gonna get and I find those plants usually, are super hearty and healthy.

      @@SustainableHolly When I grew them mine also had a bit of purple and after asking in some fb groups, I learnt that they can do that if they get a lot of sun 😊

      Garden snacks are one of the best reasons to garden haha.
      Especially beans and peas, if They are only producing a handful at a time at my place.. they do not make it inside

    I too have had a chilli plant power through this Perth winter. I just harvested the latest crop off it and dehydrated a bunch for dried chilli flakes ❤ I loved watching you harvest today.

    My chilli just died this year after 5 seasons, and just cropped the last of the cherry tomatoes! A strange winter indeed.

    Even in Bunbury all my chilli plants just pumped along all winter. They clearly didn’t get the memo that it was winter.

    Nice harvest Holly! Im down near Bunbury way and we have had a brilliant first seasons harvest since moving into our new place. Ive left a couple of Cauliflowers and peas to seed away for next year! Our soil, like yours, is pretty rubbish and our main goal is bringing life back into it. Any tips on finding some QLD arrowroot in the local area?

    thanks from NZ! i feel so lazy now😂please tell me…do you line your wooden boxes?

    • @SustainableHolly

      Yes I do line them with a thick black plastic to help them last longer

    Do you keep your chili plants for several seasons? Never had a lot of luck after winter they seem to get really straggly so I replant (from saved seed)

    • @SustainableHolly

      Yep mine is at least 3 years old but we do get really short and mild winter's so that helps

    Your garden and videos are really inspiring. I want to transfer my garden like yours. Do you have any issues with fruit flies? If you have them, how do you address them?

    • @SustainableHolly

      I mainly use exclusion bags but next year I will probably have to net as my trees start producing more

    How do you keep creatures away from eating your veggies?

    • @SustainableHolly

      Coffee grinds and also they are self seeded so they are the strongest of many. If the get eaten more pop up. Love it so much more than relying on the 5 or 6 I would plant. I also plant randomly not in lines to make it less of a buffet 😅

    Chillis and indeterminate tomatoes so many people don’t realise are perennials. I love protecting a tomato to grow through winter… or have them just go through it on their own. It’s the cold weather that slows them down or stops them, not the plants natural life span

    • @moonorchid9242

      Absolutely beautiful harvest.
      I also love kumquats. They’re too sour for many people but I’ve always loved them (so does my 3 year old niece lol)

    • @SustainableHolly

      Yep I let the garden do its thing for the most part. If it dies it dies if it grows it grows 💯

    • @SustainableHolly

      I need to experiment with more ways to use them!

    • @moonorchid9242

      @@SustainableHolly have you made any jams, marmalades and sauces with them?
      A chilli kumquat sauce is on my to-do list when mine starts fruiting 😍
      It’s on my porch, so might have to relocate her but it’s a variegated one and I’m not sure how much direct sun would be too much for it
