    Most guys with the expensive colour Alox SAK keep them in a drawer and look at them one a month but this guy actually uses it!!!!

    Farmer is a bad ass knife, I EDC one consistently and even after 5 years on this knife it basically looks new. Never want to be without it.

    When you baton with that knife make a wedge. Have the blade and body of the knife at a 90 degrees angle, baton until the blade is sunken in there. Then, wedge it in.

    Hi Joe. Here to show support by watching and re-watching as many old videos as I can in the background whilst I do other things. I'll like and comment on as many as I can get to. Hope your healing journey is quick and smooth and you can soon be back to doing what you love!

    Hurts my eyes to see such a rare blue alox farmer being batonned ._.
    But it is your knife of course, and it serves you well. Nice video!!

    Nice video. You never see these being used in real action. Good job!

    for a woodsman the farmer is a must....for me a town boy...the pioneer is all i need...oh and a rambler on my keychain in case i needa small phillips or a pair of scissors.
    the farmer is still tempting in case i have to cut my arm off, or something like that ...
    i expect it would go through bone like a hot knife through butter, and get me a nice clean cut..

    Well demonstrated, a jack knife is capable of most tasks. I'm never without a folder on my person. Thanks for sharing. All the best from Scotland. Garry

    I so want this knife now! I carry the Fieldmaster, but every video I've watched on the Farmer makes me want it more! Thanks for the great review & for batoning with it too!

    The farmer is my primary EDC and about a year ago I discovered its as good at processing wood as it is at processing mail. I always take it with me when bushcrafting or hiking, basically other than when I'm in the shower, pool or flying its always with me. Great video about a great SAK. Sub'd.

    When batoning with a folder have the blade 90 degrees to the handle, i.e. closed half way, and pull on the handle while hitting the blade.

    go to the other way with the can opener and you'll find it works a lot faster go forward not backwards

    I cut my finger real bad using my farmer for wood prep not too long ago so i only use the blade for small slicing tasks but i use that bottle opener quite a few times lol

    Great review and usage. :)
    Question: I bought a Farmer and the keyring nub is really annoying - so, I'm considering a laynard. What knot did you use for your lanyard, please?

    • @mikehunt4487
      @mikehunt4487 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He used a box knot lanyard. It's fairly hard to do, but another great lanyard knot that's easier to do is the snake knot.

    • @southerncomfort7490
      @southerncomfort7490 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it is annoying. I took mine off with a hacksaw and a dremmell. Took me five minutes and you cannot even tell that the keyring was even there now. Now,... no more hot-spot on a great knife.

    Thanks man, for showing a SAK in action. Most people into bushcraft look down on our SAks doubting their imense fire power capabilities. Great knives, low cost, last for life..... The wrong tool for every job, it's been said. Yeah, but at least it's 'for every job' :)

    I was wondering about the batoning. Would it be easier on a knife like that if you had the blade out but not in full slip joint position. At a 90 degree angle. Im a huge victorinox fan. And have this knife

    Even though most SAKs are folders.....they are besides being a work of art....they will take a licking too.One of the better SAKs for what Joe is doing is the OHT ...One Handed Trekker with a locking blade.Its also longer than the 91mm models

    I seen a great tip for when your battening with only a folding knife and it’s so simple. Do you want to know what it is? It guarantees you will never break your blade. If anyone is interested give me a comment and I’ll get back with it
