This video has completely changed the way I approach lead guitar, and I have watched countless videos that never seemed to help me improve. I watched this video about 6 months ago when I bought my electric guitar and I have improved drastically just because of this video. I am self taught on acoustic and had some lead guitar basis there but I could only play one style/sound (very Jack Johnson like). Now because of this video I can play lead phrases that can match various genres that I’ve been trying to create in. Thank you so much for sharing this lesson with all of us. I can stress enough how many “lead guitar” or “guitar solo” tip videos I’ve watched and of all them yours was the key to my progression. Respect 🫡
Guitar player of 10 years.. I cried watching. How simple the phrase, "I like pizza", yet such beautiful emotion, such raw energy that just makes me happy and made me remember why I love playing so much. "I like pizza, too." Thank you for this, this truly did help my playing.
I cried too, but from laughter at how every phrase I legit heard "I like Pizza" every time and it was just funny lmao. BUT, it actually worked and I get what he's saying so it's working great as a teaching tool.
@@kagenotatsumaki I did the exact same thing and I can’t stop laughing and crying at the simplicity and the beauty of this whole thing nothing has ever clicked more with me
You've just explained one of the hardest concepts so easily; which most guitarists usually fail to execute properly. The technique is to just let go, be calm and feel the rhythm. This concept is very deep yet very simple. Thank you! Keep going!
I usually don't comment on youtube vidoes but I couldn't help myself. I am mostly taught guitar through youtube and there's so much information out there that it can be overwhelming. But your videos are so simple and concise. I have been playing seriously for only a few years so I know all the basic chords and the pentatonic scale and that's about it. I just got finished practicing over a backing track with the pentatonic scale as I usually do and always find myself repeating the same licks or phrases and try my best to step outside the box but your "creature of habit" comment is spot on. As soon as I finished practicing I came on youtube and this video came up in my recommended and it helped me so much. I want to thank you. You have a gift for teaching.
Brilliant technique. This is often overlooked. so many people hum and grunt when they play this is a grat way to become one with your guitar. Great video
I just came across this video and this truly opened my eyes to phrasing. As someone who played scale-based solos, this opened a new door for me. I did “I like pizza, i like pizza too,” and added a “do you?” Every fourth bar and I cannot believe how melodic it sounds! Great stuff! Thank you!

Incredible, sub consciously I'm doing this but I could not make any sense of why. Now it all makes. My grandma that passed played the guitar and she always said to sing. I finally get it now Sing with the guitar , people may not know what your saying but you already know that "you like pizza".
WOW !....Just wow. After all of the books, videos and lessons, this youtube video brought it to me. I cant thank you enough for bringing real such an awesome teaching method to us.
This was a really good lesson. Most times you just wanna pick up the guitar and jam out some random notes. This gives you that phrasing factor that you were going for. You nailed this lesson, extremely helpful
if Students could sit with you around a fire and listen to you, just listen to you they would be a better musician the very next day. not only a musician but a better person. thats the kind of Teacher you are. ❤️❤️
I tried this out today, and I wanted to say that it almost feels like the reason I'm hearing the words with my notes is because I want it to say that, like people who hear their cat or dog say "I love you," but, no, it ACTUALLY WORKS at having you "sing the notes," if you will, with your fingers, like you're a singer, as you play the notes to the sayings you come up with, the words come out THROUGH the notes (the syllables/rhythms/patterns)! AWESOME! 😀 Thank you, Stich! ☺️👍

When so many songs do it. SMH? Bro just made the best soloing video on youtube. Infinite phrases. He earned my support and sub!
a couple years ago, on one of your live chats I told you my frustration with my in person guitar teacher. I asked them how do you improvise and his response was "you really can't teach it - you just have to get it." You called him a quite appropriate name and I stopped going to him. I kinda thought I figured it out since then but this one about phrasing finally stuck. Mind blown - thank you Stitch!!!!

Holy hell that's brilliant! I'm sure a similar idea to this comes naturally to all of the great soloists but almost 10 years in I hear this and first try I'm already more musical.
Call and Response!!! Sometimes it looks like people are talking to themselves while they're laying down a lead. I've often wondered if they weren't using this very approach. It's probably the best way to come up with a lyrical sounding solo for those of us that aren't blessed with being natural born virtuosos.
that is the key to lead playing..if you cant hear a phrase or lick in your head..you cant play it. The better players just have a knack of tuning into a song that then leads to a solo..I do try !

You´re a good teacher, you seem so happy to be teaching not only a living, but a passion, and that´s VERY rare. Please keep at it, man! Sending love from Taco land!
Very quietly the best guitar teacher in youtube. Always good stuff, man. Thx.
WOW! You have just given me the AHA moment. I am so grateful. I have been “Playing” guitar off and on for around forty years. I end up putting it down because I get discouraged and frustrated. I have NEVER heard, or seen anyone approach learning this way. MY DEEPEST THANKS. My name is Carlos
Carlos, I felt every word. Thanks so much for reaching out and enjoying the video.
Syncopating the syllables differently to form a wonderful "phrase" this is really creative teaching
Finally someone put it into words for me. I finally understand because of you. Unreal..
Today, because of your video I understood something i really needed to. Feels like it was magically presented at the right time.
Thanks to Zach for asking a great question and thank you for answering it in a clear and simple method.
never had this good an example to fix my issue...... thnx man..... I am a beginner and am stuck at making music out of the first major scale..... this will help 🤗..a little lamp in my head just got a teeeny tiny spark. I hope you'd do more videos for my group of learners
your tone of voice and joyfulness made me happy
That is a really interesting way to present phrasing to ppl 1st learning about it. Alot of ppl think about playin fast solos with lots of bends and super bluesy right outta the gate. But you really do have to crawl b4 you walk by learning the concept. And this is a very interesting way to do it. Bravo sir!! 👏
