I am getting the Ranger because I want to downsize from a full size truck. Full size trucks have just grown to monsterous proportions. They are too big any more. I am tired of having to use a ladder just to wash the hood and windshield. The Ranger is more maneuverable and has a nice ride IMO, yet still has good towing capacity and payload for what I will use it for. So it is the best of both worlds for me.
I bought one 3 days ago, has already blew a coolant hose at 36 miles. Got it back again and checked my coolant at 81 miles because temp was going up, completely empty again. It is going back to the dealership tomorrow and I’m getting out of the deal as the engine has overheated twice before 100 miles

The Ranger is the ONLY midsize truck with Amber Turn Lamps on the tail lights…..very important to me as they’re dedicated…more visible in bad weather….look much nicer…..nice job Ford …the prior model also featured them
Tacoma and nissan frontier are your only options for 6ft bed at this point. The majority of mid size truck buyers are buying family haulers so that is where ford/gm have decided to draw a line.
I have had a 2024 XLT for about 3 months with 3.5k miles. I agree that the xlt has too much tech crap that will cost big money to fix. I made a mistake and should have kept my '09 Tacoma still running strong with all features still in operation. I kick myself every day.
Do you think in the future they'll offer heads up display and heated and ventilated seats? These are two options that I've gotten use to and love them on my current vehicle.
Because the Maverick doesn’t have them it may take a couple years before Ford adds it as this helps push buyers to the F-150. They have heated seats on the Lariat though.
Doubt they will add those. They didn't change the last gen ranger through its run. The way the economy is going people can't afford full size which is why mid size is selling well. However, even mid sized at $40-$50k is still crazy $ especially with the high interest rates. I would be surprised if we see an economic bounceback in the next 4-5 years (expected time between model refreshes) and I expect we are going to see the car market suffer and have to shift back to econobox cars again. I don't think they will make changes that would jump the price on the ranger and as haykeyerides mentioned those would be features that push someone (who could afford it) into a luxury priced f150.
Those in the know (Ranger fans) consider this model the 6G and the 2019-2023 the 5G for the US. I have a '21 and love it but may trade for the new models. I may have missed it, but is this the standard XLT or XLT High package? Another note, the 2.7V6 is only available in 4x4, as of now anyway.
I've looked at the frontier several times and I like the idea of the old school powertrain. However, as mentioned the torque and payload are much better in the ranger. The infotainment/camera system in the frontier are not great quality, its lower to the ground, the rear seat is almost verticle, and there is no integrated brake controller. Also nissan slaps you in the face by making a $500 off road recovery backpack with an amazon first aid and tow strap mandatory on pro4x models. The ranger ticks a lot of boxes but the powertrain of the nissan is pretty reliable and ford's recall situation has been out of hand over the last couple of years.
Personally I love the turbo engines in these midsize trucks. You can get a simple tune and gain 30hp and it can be a fast truck. When you’re towing something you can switch to the tow tune. When you’re driving on a road trip you can choose the eco tune. Plus with the 2.7 you can tow more and it has a lot more torque.
Me too. It is ridiculous actually nowadays when base cheap cars have it. Also the Ford flip ignition key is prone to break and it is very expensive to replace.
On the other side of things the push button starts kia/hyundais were huge targets for easy thefts because the system was easily faked and people were just driving off with the cars in under a minute. If one manufacturer can be hacked so can the others. A key at least slows them down a little.

@HawkeyRides great video! I'm in the market for my first truck. I'm coming from a 2017 Honda Accord and in the Honda they have the ability to tap the "sync" button for climate control which will make both dual climate controls the same temps. In the Ford Ranger, is there such an option. For example, it's set at 70 degrees but now I want to drop the temp to 68 degrees. Do I need to adjust both controls to drop it down to 68?
