- The Ford Ranger got some big upgrades for the 2024 model. It has a refreshed exterior, new technology and a redesigned cabin! As of right now you'll only find it in the SuperCrew configuration, which means a 5' bed and 4 full doors.
Ford's bringing back the 2.3L turbo as the entry level engine choice with the option of moving up to a 2.7L turbo or a 3.0L (which is exclusive to the new Raptor trim). In this video I cover off everything about the 2024 Ranger. You'll learn about the available features across the different trim levels, how to use the steering wheel buttons, setup Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, payload, towing and more!

OMG Ford should pay you real money for doing this review and training video. I have a 24 Ranger on order and you have more information in your video than anything Ford is offering. The detail you provide on the info system is excellent; it is so complicated for an old timer. Do you do house calls? Come to South Carolina after the truck arrives!
Haha thank you! Have to say that I like that idea, I should probably approach manufacturers about doing these types of videos for them directly as well. One of the big reasons why I started making videos like these was to make it easier for people who own them to understand how they work so I'm glad to hear that's the case with you!
@@CarsWithSteve I sent the link to your video to my Ford dealer, Herlong . My sales contact loved it. They need to make it mandatory for all sales people.
Appreciate that, always great when sales people start watching the videos to learn more about the product. Enjoy the new ride :)
Great job on the review, looks like a really nice truck.
Thank you!
Man what a great review! Thank you sir
Appreciate that and you're welcome!
By FAR, the most thorough review on the new Ranger. I've been deciding between all the usual midsized trucks, but nothing has had more features than what I have now: 2019 RAM Limited. This Ranger is all that and more, in my eyes. The window roll down/up with the remote? *chef's kiss*
You earned a like and subscribe!
Thanks so much, appreciate the support! Definitely tough to beat the features of the Limited trim of the Ram so hopefully a test drive of the Ranger will win you over
Such a great presentation! I subscribed. :) Thank you for being so good at reviews.
Thanks Jeff, appreciate that!
Looks awesome 😎
👌 it really is. Can't wait to get my hands on one to drive off-road
I got my 2024 Ranger Limited last week, but has different specs for Brazil. Mine has the 3.0 Diesel V6 with 250 hp and 440 lb.ft
Also mine came with 20" wheels.
The Diesel must be a good ride. I should get out to the other side of the world and jump into some different cars to see how they compare to the North American specs
From one Steve to another, this was a super great in-depth video. Best I have seen for a vehicle... good job. Question, you said the truck did not have video play back, but I noticed that when you phone was connected, you have the VLC player. Could you not use that to play videos on the trucks main screen? At another part of the video, you show the truck pretty much had a built-in owner's manual complete with some videos, so if it would play vids in that section, then VLC shout also work.
Thanks Steve! I thought the same thing when I first saw VLC was on CarPlay but it didn't allow video playback when I tried.. unfortunately only audio for now
@@CarsWithSteve okay, thanks for the info. Just sold my 2019 Ram 4x4 and have roughly 35k to put down on a new ride. Looking at the 2025 Rams (namely the new Ramcharger) or inline 6 cyls. but it is looking like they are going to price them in the $90's and out of my budget for a Limited. That has me looking at the 2024 Rams and 2025 Rangers.
Last Ranger I had was a new 1995, back when it was considered a small truck. Ho do you like the new Rangers. Would you recommend a new 25 Ranger over a 24 Ram?
Ranger vs Ram is an interesting quetsion.. Depending on the Ram build you're looking at higher towing and payload capacity, along with a noticeably larger interior and exterior. The Ranger maxes out at 7,500 lbs with a factory tow option, has the SuperCrew and a 5' bed. Bit tighter inside but the 2024/2025 Rangers have a redesigned interior that looks way better than the previous gen. Since I don't tow often I'd probably go for the Ranger if I needed to pull the trigger today.
I am interested in seeing how the Ramcharger holds up though once they're available to start reviewing!
@CarsWithSteve You and me both. Sounds great on paper, but need to see one in action before I doll out over $90K on a truck.
Another great review Steve. If I didn't go Badlands Baby Bronco, pretty sure I would have got a new Ranger. Do you know which mid sizer pickup you would lean towards ( Canyon, Tacoma, Colorado, etc.)?
Thanks Jeff! I haven't been in any of those other trucks yet so I don't have a basis of comparison but hoping to be able to get in behind the wheel of them soon
I have a 24 Xlt Fx4 on order still waiting for it to be built
Nice! How long ago did you custom order your Ranger?
Outstanding video Steve. No one has covered how the inside of the truck works. One thing that jumped out at me, was the "Stop/Start" feature in the menu. I hate that feature on any vehicle.
What I would like to know, does it permanently disable that feature.or does it have to be turned on or off with every drive session ? Thanks very much
Thanks Rich! The start/stop feature doesn't get permanently turned off with that button. If you turn start/stop off it'll stay off until the engine is turned off and then will come back on when you start it back up again.
That's a pain, gonna have to turn it off everytime then, such a stupid invention.
@sianne3866 Lmao you're not going to die. It takes 1 second. You're already messing with the screen and touching buttons. What's 1 extra button?
@@user-ue2ut8sw5s No, it is when old people think the GPS is going to send them in the right direction. There have been many old people deaths in Canada because of this.
How is the huge screen at night? Blinding?
Not too bad at night, there's a mode that darkens the screen up automatically at night and you can set the brightness through the infotainment system under Settings --> General --> Display if you find it too bright
Nice truck. I wished they tuned it to 300 HP and 310 torque like the Explorer. However, that would prevent them from charging you extra for the 2.7 of similar power. Wonder how much more is the 2.7 vs 2.3?
Ford had a performance tune for the last gen ranger that pushed power to 330hp. It was a blast.
Beat me to it Russ! The 2.7L in the Bronco is around $2,400 to upgrade so I can see the Ranger being around the same
Im gonna order this truck, but im gonna wait until the 2.7 v6 and supercab are offered. I can get by with the 2.3, but i want/need box space. And yes ill wait.
Wouldn't hold my breath on the SuperCab but Ford should be bringing the 2.7L EcoBoost into the lineup by late 2024
If they do a super cab, I’d be in. Or a Tremor. 😍
Tremor was unfortunately deleted for 2024 but hopefully Ford announces the SuperCab is back soon
clearly the xl is the one to buy.
XL is the one to go for if you just want a truck without the bells and whistles
Wonderful detailed review, love it. Do you happen to know if XLT and Lariat Trim have remote start or not?
Thank you! Yes, the XLT and Lariat have remote start on the keyfob. But you can use the FordPass app across any trim level to remote star that way instead
LIKE 2024 FORD RANGER TRUCK 😀😀🫠👍👍
What build do you think you'd go for?
Thanks for the quick reply Steve. Seems kind of redundant with a setting in the menu and a switch on the console. Who wants to move through a menu everytime you start the truck, when you can just hit the button on the console. Instead of wasting the software they should give you the option. I never meet anyone that thought that feature was useful. Just annoying.
Thank you very much.
You're welcome! It could have been a feature that was overlooked. Could be worth messaging Ford Canada/USA about it as something that you'd like to see
You don't listen to rap do you ? You seem to cool for that 😆
Can't judge a book by its cover. Snoop, Eminem, Tupac and 50 cent are on my playlist haha
Lots of people die following the GPS system, crazy !
Lots might be a bit hyperbolic.. but it has happened with drivers not paying attention
Why are truck interiors always so bare and ugly. Sh stereos and tech
It's a step above last years model.. but what type of interior are you going for?
An hour+ review and no driving impressions? Epic fail!!
It’s a sold unit so cannot be driven. And I’d rather be able to teach people about the truck rather than just drive it. Plus some people care about more than how it handles
Comment fail
Don’t listen to a word that @user-wm1xm5gm2k said Steve. This is the best truck review video I have watched by far. I’m trying to decide between the 2024 Ford Ranger Lariat, 2024 Chevy Colorado z71, and the 2024 Toyota Tacoma Limited. You can find hundreds of driving impression videos. But you can’t find any in depth videos like you do. Keep it up! Your videos are outstanding! Your video helped me make my decision to go with the Ranger. Definitely got a like and subscribe from me!! 👍👍
@@CarsWithSteve You did a great and wonderful review and it is really interesting and your explaining rhythm is outstanding, please don't listen to the negative comments, I personally like your review. Please go forward.
