Been devouring your turkey videos and loving all the pointers you've been giving. I haven't been out hunting in close to 12 years so it's been helping me get back in to the swing of things. Doing a weekend trip to Colorado's Black Hawk STL to try and grab me a fall turkey and may spend some time flushing up some dove while I'm at it. If i come back with a Turkey though it will be a credit to to for the assist.

Just by using this tip last season i was able to buy a 10$ box call fine tune it and make it sound just like a hen used it to call a gobbler from a long ways off until he got real close then switched to a slate but just goes to prove you can take a 10$ box call sound like a 30$ box call and call turkeys in with it!

Box call is all I have ever used and have good successes...working on learning the diagram tho.

Robert Nelson Yes. Loosen it a bit. Test it. Loosen a bit more if needed.

I have a WoodHaven box call that I find very difficult to purr on. Do you think adjusting the screw would help it any? The company says every one of their calls are hand tuned before they leave the factory, but other than not being able to get an easy purr from it it's an excellent box call that I've taken most of my turkeys with.

I have a primos box call that has the high and the low very good I just find it to be too loud

Love box/friction calls. No interest in choke hazard calls.
