‘96 was my first year going hard for ducks. During the late 90’s the USDA was subsidizing peanut farming all along the Red River in Texas and Oklahoma. We actually had a big population of mallards at that time. Nowadays, all the crops are “roundup ready” so the fields are constantly being sprayed with glyphosate. Nobody plants a cover crop anymore, there’s no food for waterfowl.
