As I dream - it is always a Nordhavn - Would I get the 55 -60 ‘ - really like the pilot house - the Coastal looks good and can get somewhere quicker if you have to . This is what I was thinking when your video appeared . Looks like you have covered a lot of sea miles and the boat was capable . Thanks 🙏
Great video regarding dreaming as well as cruising. It starts with the dream, that eventually hits the decision point of “doing”, then it becomes reality and not a dream anymore.
At 2:05 in the video I believe you were passing under the 19.7’ BNSF rail bridge in Lemont, Illinois - otherwise known as the shortest fixed bridge on the entire Great Loop. What did you have to lower or disassemble on the Nordhavn in order to clear that bridge?
We had a hinge put in our radar arch that allowed us a clearance of 18.5 feet. We used the davit to lower the arch, do to it's weight, and rested the radar arch on 2 saw horses.
@@patrickhynes6058 I believe we put it up that evening in Joliet and were able to leave it that way for the rest of the trip. Sounds like you are planning on doing the Loop, good luck, we really enjoyed it.
@@Mac94920 Yes! Boat is currently in Marina del Rey California - we do weekends on the boat out on Catalina Island - so was also facsinated about your videos of moving the boat from Florida to the west coast and your journey up to SFO.

Thank you. We had to pause this year but cruised locally up the Delta to Sacramento. Next year the plans are taking Independence to Alaska.
