    Sighted Independence yesterday in Sacramento CA. Not often do we get a vessel so well traveled and of such pedigree as an N59CP. She looked like the queen of the dock at Riverbank Marina.

      Hi Jim, thanks for the kind words. You should have stopped by for an adult beverage. We are off to Alaska this coming summer on Independence. Larry

    Great video showing off the Nordhavn lifestyle … well done!
    We also spent a winter in Sea of Cortez on our N60 (My Serenade) and now are in Victoria BC.
    Look us up if you’re in the area.

    I have been out of La Paz on a dive boat called the "Don Jose" several times and love the Sea of Cortez. Doing it on a Nordhavn would be glorious. So happy for both of you and thank you for sharing your travels with us. It is appreciated.

    Thank you so much for sharing your adventure. I miss cruising more than I could express. Unfortunately health issues took us out of the boat and away from cruising so what I do is live my Adventures through people like you. Thank you so much

    How much of the fly bridge were you able to lower to get under the low bridge on the Loop? What folds, what lowers, what has to be removed, etc.?

    • @Mac94920
      @Mac94920 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We had a hinge put into the radar arch. We then used the Davit to lower the arch backwards to rest on saw horses. This. Was done after taking off the Bimini top which took about a half hour.

      @@Mac94920 you have a wonderful boat! A perfect combination of trawler-like living with motorboat power and capability. I wish I were ready for something that big, but I’m looking more towards the N41. Just too bad Nordhavn doesn’t make a CP version of that hull.

      @@ppierpont Thanks, we just got back to the boat in Anacortes WA where it is for sale. After 6 years and 13,000 Nautical Miles it is time for different adventures.

    Loved the vidoeo but I can't belive you said theres no point in going to europe! I would highly recomend it - theres no place better for a boat like the 59cp!

    So that's not pilothouse speed. What is the speed for this model. Also is the engine offset or is it a twin.. what a great odyssey.

    • @Mac94920
      @Mac94920 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The speed while running the boat was up to 18 knots, I had to slow it down because the drone could not keep up. Independence is a twin engine at 715 HP each.

      What’s the range at displacement speed ? A couple thousand NM ?

    • @Mac94920
      @Mac94920 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@timthomson7532 Yesterday we completed the Baja Bash with waves over 8 feet off our bow at times and fighting a very strong current (1.5 knots at times, if not more) and we had a fuel reserve off 300 gallons after the 761 miles. BUT, near the end I cranked it up so that we would get to Ensenada before the marina closed and we were burning 15 gallons an hour but the currents were so strong that we were only doing 9 knots. I know that did not answer your question but it shows that there are many factors to determine range.
      That being said, we hold around 1130 gallons and what I have found over the last 4 years the fuel burn at various speeds with perfect conditions (no current, wind, etc) we burn 8.7 gallons at 8.7 knots; 7.5 knots we burn 5.4; 5.7 knots under 3 burn. Very good numbers in my mind but I like the option of putting down the throttle like we did yesterday and the day before when I want to. I must say though after doing the Bash, I love this boat and it handled the waves and conditions better than the crew at various times. I bet we did the Bash in record time for a Nordhavn, 3.5 days.
      Also yesterday I bought 800 gallons of diesel and paid $4.20 per gallon!

    • @Mac94920
      @Mac94920 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@timthomson7532 At displacement speed, which would be around 9.4 range would be about 900 to 1000 miles. Slowing it down to 7.5 knots and the burn is roughly 5 gallons per hour.

    US and European history really don't compare. My local pub is older than the US, and that's not especially unusual.
