    This is what I want to see in a video, very detailed. Small details added but really important to some, especially for first timers. 👍🏻

    The best reason to buy 1st class seats is much less likelihood of screaming babies, not that I don't like children, I just don't want to have to listen to them scream hysterically for hours on end

    • @MarkusTravels
      @MarkusTravels  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a very good reason! Although, all passengers in Japan are usually very quiet.

    Hi Markus, thanks for the very detailed video! Do you know if the arm rest between the seats can be raised or not?

    • @MarkusTravels

      I think it can't be moved, because there's controls in there. But I don't remember trying it.

    So, there's 'green class', which I think is like 'business class'. Sometimes I see 'gran class'. I wonder if these are the same, or if 'gran class' is a step up. This would be on the Tohoku shinkansen/JR East. I don't know about the Tokaido shinkansen.

    • @MarkusTravels
      @MarkusTravels  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, gran class is one step above green car. Looking forward to trying it next time I'm in Japan!

      GRANclass only exists on Tohoku/Joetsu/Hokuriku Shinkansen E5/H5 and E7/W7 series.

      @@suncheeserailway Oh, I didn't know that. Thank you. I've only experienced Tohoku, Joetsu, and Hokuriku Shinkansens so far.

    The green car (First Class) will cost more, but worth it because it sits in the middle of the train so it's quieter and less jinking around from the curves and tunnels. I rode both the green car (To Hiroshima) and the economy car (To Tokyo) in July 2023 and although its the same train the green car is a much smoother ride! Relaxing in leather seats if far better than the upholstery one, but you will pay more for the luxury!
    One thing to mention: If you have an oversized luggage and did not pay for it when purchasing your ticket, the conductor WILL CHECK to find out who it belongs to and charge you! I saw this happened with another rider in the green car. Also, whether in green car or economy, you still have to PAY for any food product offered!

      Both green and ordinary car are indeed great products. But I do like the added space of the less dense seat configuration.

    hi Markus , great video very helpful - do you happen to know if we can get a gran class between Tokyo and Kyoto ? I can't seem to find the answer online

    • @MarkusTravels
      @MarkusTravels  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching! Gran Class is currently only available on the line going north from Tokyo, as far as I'm aware. So it's not yet on the line to Kyoto.

    Thanks for the informative video! One question, do they collect rubbish like on airplanes, or do we have to take our empty bento boxes with us?

    • @MarkusTravels
      @MarkusTravels  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They have garbage cans and recycling bins in vestibules between the cars, so just throw the empty one in there.

      That's right. You need to bring your own.
