    I am glad you included The Beastmaster. I would have included Ghandhi, Tootsie, Annie, Swamp Thing, Silent Rage, The Sword and the Sorcerer, Grease2 (sue me I like it), Six Pack, They Call Me Bruce, and The Toy. I like a good chunk of your list though in different order. Keep up the good work.

    My top 5 of 1982:
    1)E.T.
    2)Wrath Of Khan
    3)Poltergeist
    4)Rocky 3
    5)The Thing
    I actually got to go see a re-release of E.T. in theaters when I was about 18 (for the 20th anniversary) the only one on the list I've gotten to see in theaters. Very nostalgic for me.
    Star Trek just feels like home. I grew up with them and I absolutely love 2,3,4 & 6. They are comfort movies to me.
    Poltergeist was my first horror movie! I was 3 months old & my mom had me in my carseat in the livingroom while her and my grandma were at the kitchen table in the adjoining room talking and didn't realize the movie had come on tv. When they did they tried to change the channel, I apparently screamed bloody murder until my mom put it back on and sat and watched it all.
    I've always been a fan of the Rocky movies and this was a great one, even named my dog Rocky. He's 13 now, a white pitbull with a grey patch around his eye.
    I've seen The Thing the least amount of times of any movie on my list. However, it has fantastic special effects and a perfect story. Kurt Russell is amazing in it along with the rest of the cast and I still can't help but debate with myself about who the creature is at the end and what happens when the camera stops rolling. Nostalgia for the others puts this one at 5 for me since I didn't see it until well I to adulthood but it's a classic for a reason.

      @katiejackson2178 solid top 5! I love ET and I'm a big Speilberg fan but I'm not sure why it never got deeper into my feelings as others as a kid...seeing it again in theaters would be awesome...
      The first Rocky is probably my favorite all time movie!

      @AVAPopCulture I've always had a hard time pinning down an all time favorite movie. They always change depending on my mood or how old I was at the time someone asked, Jaws is frequently at the very top of my list along with Ghostbusters and Twister. Rocky 3 or 4 is my favorite depending on my mood.

      @AVAPopCulture Seeing E.T. in the theater was great, although it was the specialized version with the new edits. I went with my mom, little sister and my grandma. I remember she always hated science fiction but went anyway. She had never seen the movie before but when I looked over at the end of the movie, she was crying. I never seen my grandma have a reaction like that to any other science fiction based films again.

      @katiejackson2178 that is the power of movies that I love...we go in the theater, close that door, and the lights go down and curtain goes up and we are transported to a different place and time and other worlds that make us feel so many different things we never imagined!!

    1982 was the year I graduated high school ready to go on to college. I remember reading the monthly issues of Starlog in anticipation of these sci-fi/fantasy epics coming to the big screen. Most are on your list but you forgot the classic Road Warrior, Tootsie, Diner, The Verdict, King of Comedy, My Favorite Year, Cat People, etc. Overall, one of the greatest years of American film in the 80s.

    Seeing Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan in June 1982 was a seminal moment in my teen years. This was back before the Internet and social media ruined movies by giving away the plot before it hit theaters. I was caught by total surprise when Spock sacrificed himself to save the Enterprise. His death scene with Kirk in the engine room made me cry so hard I couldn't see. I left the theater totally drained and in shock. So The Wrath of Khan is my #1 movie from 1982. I also saw ET that summer and the theater was packed. It was a great experience to see it on the big screen. I also enjoyed Tron, Rocky III, Blade Runner, 48 Hours, Poltergeist, and Fast Times at Ridgemont High. I didn't see The Thing that year but I did catch it on VHS a few years later. An excellent horror film.

Every movie off your list had either a badass or humorous ending. I keep replaying the store robbery from Fast Times at Ridgemont High! I loved how Poltergeist ends, with the dad pushing the TV set out of the motel room, lol! Tron was revolutionary at the time. it was Disney most riskiest movie they ever put out but didn't do well in the box office. an arcade game based on the movie was a fun to play back in the 80's
    Night Shift-what not to like when you have the Fonz and Batman in the same movie with a young Shelly Long before Cheers.
    Zapped is wickedly fun
    48 hours is fun.
    blade runner was an interesting movie. I only seen one of the cuts where Ford's narration is including. never seen any of the other cuts of the film, nice idea of a filn noir set in the future.
    Star trek 2. there are two version. the theatrical cut and director's cut. both are worth it either way.
    The Beastmaster rocks.

    82 was a killer year for sure! I had ZERO doubts who was going to be your #1 and can’t blame you either, it’s a masterpiece!
    My top 5 would be:
    5.) E.T. - absolutely loved it as a kid
    4.) Halloween III Season of the Witch - scared the shit out of when I was little
    3.) Rambo: First Blood & Conan The Barbarian
    2.) The Thing - the light finally came on watching the 4k earlier this year
    1.) Blade Runner - like The Thing, I appreciated it much more as an adult

      @AVAPopCulture  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      very very solid top 5!!! yeah the Thing has won me over for sure man...cant explain the change because a couple months ago the thought of me ranking it ahead of Rambo First Blood, Conan, Blade Runner, ET etc would have been unthinkable lol

    • @TheTylerpoe
      @TheTylerpoe 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AVAPopCultureI see it too. I was so immersed watching the Thing. wNever thought it was possible for older films to look so good. And I’ve also gained so much more appreciation for films back then when they didn’t rely on CGI. From practical effects, to huge movie set pieces, etc. So much respect for the film making process.
      And a fun fact, Blade Runner is THE 4k that rekindled my interest in collecting again. Watched it back in December and it blew me away. The rest is history, I think I’ve bought 500 movies since watching 😂

    Tron is one of my all time favorites. It's a shame it never got a re-release in theaters. I never saw it in theaters and I've read old articles about why it needs to be seen in theaters. It randomly shows up in 70mm festivals. I own the Blu Ray , but I have the Special Disney Archive Collection Laserdisc. Which is my favorite Laserdisc that's packed with hours of special features and was mastered from the 70mm print. I'm not sure if i can say 82' was the best year...It's between 82' and 84' ...For me i might give a very slight edge to 84'

    I love the Jason character for the Friday the 13th series, but I only own the 3-D one with the glasses included, Jason X, and Freddy vs. Jason. I like Blade Runner, too, but it's never been one I felt the need to own. Funny enough, I just picked up one that I already own in but in 4K that was inspired by Blade Runner, Ghost In the Shell. It's one I don't mind having in every kind of format. I watched that same copy of ET after not seeing it in years, and I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. I have Poltergeist on DVD, but it's one I don't feel I need in 4K. OK, I do plan on getting Creepshow as it's one I have wanted in the collection with my others of anthology horror like Tales From The Darkside: The Movie and Cat's Eye. The Thing, which of course I have on DVD, is definitely at the top of my personal list of best horror films of all time.

      I saw it in the theater at Hilton Head.
      Be warned: By the way, I have seen someone get a review copy. The movie poster came in a box. When the opened the box, the shipping tube for the poster did not have caps on either end. When he pulled the tube out, the poster slipped out and bent on the edges. It also came taped together.

      @AVAPopCulture  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @LanceThigpen I've heard about the "no caps" which seems so weird...I will be careful with it...I am looking for a wall-mounted poster rack (like those that we used to be able to find in stores) to put all of the posters in - they have slightly smaller ones for home use that will hold about 48 posters

    I don't like Tron but oddly I did like the sequel. I have no explanation for this. Maybe it was a certain actress that starred in it.
    To me FT13 3 is the quintessential FT13 movie. It was the first to create the formula the series would be known for. Anytime I watch it it's like slipping into an old comfy pair of jeans.
    Oh man, I've seen Beastmaster so many times. Probably watched it more than any other movie when I was growing up because it was always on TV. Fond memories of that one.
    Season of the Witch is truly creepy. Shame it got panned because of Halloween being included in the title. It likely would have done better (or at least been received better) if they hadn't tried to make it part of the Halloween series.
    Fully agree with your #1. Don't have anything to add to that. lol

    Tenebrae is one I have seen, 2nd sight put out flight of the navigator so I always wanted them to put out Tron but I’m sure Disney would never let it off streaming bc of the ride. Zapped is great saw it when I was a kid it was a say one purchase Olive films put it out but it’s oop now pretty pricey. Can’t go wrong with Burt Reynolds. Star Trek not my thing only ever saw the whale one couldn’t get into wraith row khan.
