Yes, this one was painful and took me a week of writing and re-writing my list. I still left off some great movies from the three decades that I focused on, like Taxi Driver, The Godfather II, Raging Bull, Rocky, etc.
@@excelsiormoviereviews I started off with one in the 70s, however, with my 50 years and film series at the end of each decade I do a top 25, so I have one for the 70s, 80s, 90s, 00’s and teens.

Good Will Hunting Here are some honorable mentions, now, none of these are # 26 because I'll have to do a lot of thinking before I go higher, but these are movies so far that I have: Casablanca, Citizen Kane, Beetlejuice, Full Metal Jacket, and The Truman Show. My #1 is... Forrest Gump!
@@BigDave21000 I watched Forrest Gump so many times in 1994 and I’ve watched it so many times on VHS, DVD and Blu Ray, it almost made it on my list. Good Will Hunting, Shawshank and Groundhog Day are great as well.
Great video Steve ! I reckon 8-10 of your choices would definitely be in my own top25 and a bunch of them would be contenders. The Star Wars trilogy has to be up there, like you Empire is my favourite but for me Jedi is #2, I get why some don't like this one or just don't rate it highly but I love it myself (minus the changes made in the special editions ofc, I always skip that stupid song that was put in, just as I always skip a few bits in the SE of the original Star Wars). I'd also include the Raiders trilogy, once again my favourites are a little different, Temple of Doom is my favourite with Raiders coming in a very close 2nd and Crusade in 3rd. Alien/Aliens are classics and would be in ! Terminator/Terminator 2 are classics and would be in ! "The Matrix" and "Pulp Fiction" would also be in. "Die Hard", "Jaws", "An American Werewolf in London" and "The Holy Grail" would very likely be in there too...after that our lists would differ a fair bit, I like a lot of the movies in the rest of your list ("Fargo", "Halloween", "The Thing" and "Poltergeist" especially)...so many great movies, so hard to narrow it down to just 25. A few that would definitely be in my own top25 would be "Forrest Gump", "Excalibur", "Conan the Barbarian" and "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon"...I'd have to think long and hard about the remaining spots ! 🙂
Yes, Forrest Gump was considered for sure. I agree, I didn’t like the Special Edition of Jedi, the exception of the Rancor scene. I’ve never liked the rear projection look of the Rancor, especially when it picked up Luke, and it finally looked right in the Special Edition. Yes, the new song and dance scene in Jedi was awful. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon good one.
