I love this Chapin ... I've been using it for two years now with the N-Ext products ... I take what the does rate on the bottle for 1,000 sqft is - calculate how many table-spoons are in that ounce amount and then set the Chapin dial to that. So if i an applying at a rate of 4oz per 1,000 sqft, then that is 8 table-spoons per 1,000. An area of 3,000 sqft, I need 12oz of N-Ext product with the dial set at 8 (for tbsp). That's how I do it. Great review!
@@Smurfe04 Hi - so 3oz equals 6 tbs. So I would pour the 3 ounces in then set the dial to 6 ... but if it were thick liquid, like NeXt products, I would fill with water on top of that, then continue to spray the whole contents on the 1,000 sqft. Basically you take whatever ounce you want, then double that to get tablespoons, which is also the dial setting. So a rate of 4oz would be 8 on the dial, but i think it only goes to 7 and then 10. But something like that. Add water if it is thick and as long as you apply it to the measured space, it won't matter if you dilute with water in the jar. Hope that helps!
What setting would you put it on if you wanted to run Bleach 10% with some surfactant to softwash a house? Need around a 1.5% mix. Just curious if you knew.
I don't remember if I removed the filter in the video but I have it off permanently now. I only spray some of the humic based N-ext products out of it....never a herbicide or anything else. My latest video, I used this sprayer and it works good. My lawn is just too large to use it a lot.
It needs to be watered in if you're applying it out of a tank sprayer. You can leave it unwatered and it will dry and then reconstitute when it rains but it'll make your lawn look brown. A little water after spraying only helps. You don't need to water it further if you apply it with a hose end sprayer, unless you just want to.
I went back and watched this again. The metered dial settings are in tsp or Tbsp. That's the unit of measure that it will siphon out per gallon of water it sprays.
If you need to unplug it, the wire inside a "twist tie" is the correct diameter and a 1/8 inch drill bit will unplug the other hole. I replaced the dip tube with a slightly longer hose from the plumbing store, longer so it hits the handle side...bottom of the container. Its a very good tool and Continental sells a comparable device.
I really don't remember what it was on but the number corresponds to the number of ounces that gets discharged with each gallon of water. That means your walking speed will determine the number on the dial. You have to practice and see how fast you can cover 1000 ft². Set it on 2 and take your time applying it.
I made a reply and it was wrong so I deleted it. I didn't realize you were talking about this sprayer. The dial setting is represented in ounces dispersed from the container, per gallon of hose water.
Chapin Sprayer worked for me for 2 1/2 applications and then totally failed. Will not pull any product- even water- from the 'cup'. Thought it was clogged, but after several tries with water, finally took it apart and made sure nothing was clogged. Still, nothing. It was so good for my first insecticide and fertilizer applications, but then complete fail. Water (I hope) started coming out the top and nothing out of the cup.... wasted $25 unless DIY pest control will honor a return.
Thanks HB...It is very low when watched on a computer but sounds fine on a phone. I've tried everything I know from microphones to different camera and video maker apps. The only commonality is my phone that I record with. I'm sorry you're having volume problems....earbuds or headphones help a lot. I'll keep working on it.

So if I want to spray 3 oz per 1000 sq ft. I set the dial to 3? or 6 since I added 3oz/6 tbs to the container?

@@jeffersononetwo thank you so much.

Probably the highest setting
So you took off the filter?
Yes and it helped.
A to Zoysia - DIY LawnCare interesting - and you did that with the liquid concentrate?
I don't remember if I removed the filter in the video but I have it off permanently now. I only spray some of the humic based N-ext products out of it....never a herbicide or anything else.
My latest video, I used this sprayer and it works good. My lawn is just too large to use it a lot.
How much would you need for over an acre of land?
How much what? If you're applying anything to an acre, a tank sprayer will better suit your needs.
So no need to dilute liquid concentrates in the sprayer bottle.
No need to dilute unless it starts to clog....but I often dilute just to make it a thinner liquid.
So the Chapin doesn’t seem to have ounces on the side. Are you converting to mls?
Correct. It is teaspoons and tablespoons, one uses the nipple and the other doesn't.
Now is there a need to water the lawn after applying it with a sprayer?
It needs to be watered in if you're applying it out of a tank sprayer. You can leave it unwatered and it will dry and then reconstitute when it rains but it'll make your lawn look brown. A little water after spraying only helps.

@@NCGrassPlugsso if I wanted to disperse a product at 1tbsp per gallon, I’d set it to “1”?
@@JayJohnsonMLPThe large orifice is TBSP and the small one is tsp. The number on the dial is the quantity per gallon.
Dumb question, it has a dial but where's the mark that shows you what measure its on? Powders clog the unit too easy.
There should be a bead on the right side of the dial, that’s your mark.
@NCGrassPlugs ok on the 3 o'clock position thanks 😊!
What do you set the dial on? That is the main issue with everyone. I want to spray. Weed Stop

The siphon tube was a hair short of touching the bottom. That was keeping me from emptying the tank. Thanks for the tips!
Good review! I've been looking into something other than the ortho. I may have to try this one out.
Thanks for the review, that nozzle is awesome.
So what did you put your sprayer setting on?

A to Zoysia - DIY LawnCare so how much did you put in the sprayer?
Couldn’t tell if product was really coming out. I used for the first time today. With the chameleon I could see product change water color.
My question, when you dilute your concentrate should you change the setting on the sprayer? How do you change the ratio?
I made a reply and it was wrong so I deleted it. I didn't realize you were talking about this sprayer.
The dial setting is represented in ounces dispersed from the container, per gallon of hose water.

What setting did you have it on with those 5oz?

Contact Chapin Support, find the receipt and they should honor some sort of warranty.
