    Look into Flex or Rupp polishers. I have used Flex Rotary and VR for 15 years and they are fantastic.

    Simon you commented below NOT to use alcohol unless using ceramic, Starke told me directly to use their Surface Prep (alcohol solution) to wipe down Elevate before Hyper Hold.
    I have big boat want to get right after some weak wax jobs at yard.

    • @topdockpro
      @topdockpro  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t alcohol spray because I wash the boat directly prior to hyper hold. Always take Starke’s advice over mine.

      @@topdockpro thanks for all your sharing, ordering bunch of material from Starke and will be tackling my boat with a helper. Want the shine back and a process to follow before I let the storage ‘polisher’ loose on it again.

    The rupes wool Is actually pretty good for light oxidation in small areas I think I’m gonna try out the purple foam wool lake country soon see how it does

    Another great video. So which one do you like better, Rupes or Flex?

    • @topdockpro
      @topdockpro  ปีที่แล้ว

      Now that I’ve used them both. Flex 100%. Durability, power, flex wins them all. I haven’t had good luck with the Millie on boats.

    I have a slightly larger SeaRay at about the same age). I noticed that the hull looks to have bottom paint applied below the waterline. Do any of the pads "pick up" the bottom paint? For a less experienced person, should I put some masking tape over the bottom paint to prevent pickup?
    And, any special advice for the vinyl striping?
    Many thanks,

    • @topdockpro
      @topdockpro  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      100% tape off the bottom paint. Wool pads will pick up bottom paint. Always be careful with decals. Some are stronger than others. My advice, try to avoid creating lots of heat by reducing the speed of your buffer to 600 RPMs and lighten up on the amount of pressure you apply to the buffer

    At 15.15 you said you were buffing again with the Dewalt. Was that you cutting a different area or was that another step where you are using the dewalt for polishing or another step.
    Cheers

    • @topdockpro
      @topdockpro  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was still the 1st step of cutting before we followed up with the Flex and polish.

  • @RafaelJaureguiCaball

    I’m just curious what exactly you mean by buffing and polishing? I know many people call things differently. I always call compounding for a more aggressive approach. Polishing for the least aggressive approach. What exactly are you using the big pads for, did not quite get that part

    • @topdockpro
      @topdockpro  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, compounding is aggressive, polishing is less aggressive. The big pads are wool and used for cutting oxidation.

    Well done. As you so wisely stated, many ways to do it. Find the way that works for you. To many people get caught up in ego. One reason we do not use a foam pad, is it tends to leave oxidation. You will see a patchy lack of clarity. One thing about hitting cleats. Understand which way your pad spins. Be on edge and use the rotation to spin away from verses, allowing it to suck you into it.

    I have a question... i have a fairly new bay boat. Very light swirls very very light oxidation. Would you recommend using elevate followed by hyperhold and a sio2?

    • @topdockpro

      Light swirls? You may want to run some Starke Restructure with a microfiber pad. Then elevate, hyper hold, and SiO2. Up to you... see what works best!
