Do need to wet sand first before using Level R with wool pad to remove the oxidation? Ive been told oxidation comes back quicker without wet sanding first.
So the wool itself isn’t what causes swirling and holograms? Rather it’s the action of the rotary? I thought the wool was just so harsh that it would be what’s causing it. Never used ignition I always leave my work at elevate and orange foam pad. What foam pad do you recommend for the ignition? I’m loaded on orange foam from lake country, are these okay for ignition or do I need something a little finer?
Honestly our new pad of choice for your finishing step whether you are using Elevate, ignition or triple p to finish with is the new STARKE yellow MONEY $ Pad. It’s a 100% wool pad for the DA.
Great review. Can you tell me what type of pad you used on the rupes lr 21 to finish off with ignition ?? And do you sell these pads along with tgexignition. Thx James
James, thank you for your comment. The pad used in the video is a 6” Rupes yellow wool polishing pad. We offer everything in the video including the machines. Link are in the description or visit www.marinedetailsupply.com
I’m new to detailing diy only. I ordered pretty much everything here minus ignition. Just did a wonderful job on my boat. As far as vehicles what is your recommendation for a car that has a very dull look. Hasn’t been detailed in forever. Same as this video?
I see a lot of videos using products like level r on solid gelcoats. I do way more bass boats in my area that saltwater boats. Is the starkes products safe to use on the type of gelcoat's that comes on bass boats with all the flakes that are on these boats. Thanks for any help
So what is the recommendation. Have a White Sea ray the bow has a good shine and is clean and smooth. But if you look straight into the gel coat it’s cloudy and doesn’t have any depth. But at an angle shines like a mirror. Tried elevate both on rotary and on a DA with orange lake country pad and then ignition. The shine is there but still no depth and that cloudy look straight on. Any tips?
That’s oxidation still present. You’ll need to go deeper at least with Level R on a white wool. The sounds of it tho probably requires sanding first with 1000 or 800 grit.
@@slonefactor I would not recommend that as the action of the machine itself will cause holograms. The best route is to buy a budget machine and finish with that.

Only if it needs to be. When you wipe your hand across the surface. Does the oxidation transfer to your hand?
Great Video
Thanks
what type of brand do you use for the wool ones
Starke double sided Quick connect pads. They are our favorite

Use elevate on a Rupes wool coarse pad on a da. Then follow that with Triple P on Rupes yellow foam pad.
I like Menzerna 400 on short pile purple foamed wool pad.

Absolutely. It also works great on RV and automotive

Great info. What wool pad was that on the rupes 21 . Thanks a bunch
I went ahead and linked it in the description. It’s a Rupes wool polishing pad.
@@MarineDetailSupply thank you.
If I wanted to start on white gel coat with elevate what foam pad would you recommend on a rotary? Thank you!
I would still start with Level R on a white wool on a rotary. Then followed by an orange pad on the DA with elevate.
I have the Makita 7" VS buffer polisher what pad would I need for the final waxing and polishing?
So you don’t have a DA and want to finish with a Rotary?
@@MarineDetailSupply yes
