I love how respectful and mindful you are while discussing the issues Panama has been going through. Very good info and non-biased. Thank you for keeping us in the loop!
Thank you for explaining the details of the Mining Contract. I plan on relocating to Panama City after retirement in two years. I stand with the Panamanian people.
Disturbing update. Yesterday there was violence at a protest. An American who was born in the Canal Zone decided to get out of his car to confront unarmed protesters. He shot and killed two men. He was arrested shortly afterwards. It turns out that this man appears to be an attorney for the mining company itself. Needless to say, it is very sad that it is the Americans introducing violence into this situation. 😢😢
Well done, Will. I'm a Brit living in the city, married to a Panamanian and living in a quiet part of the city. To be honest, aside from some shortages of fruit and veg, and less traffic, at least some days (which made the crossing of the roads a lot easier!), we've not really noticed much. After initial problems, the Metro and Metro buses (though maybe not all) are running. We've been around the areas where there have been protests (Cinta Costera, Casco Viejo, Calle 50, Via Espania), with no problem at all, during the day - though I'd steer clear of Cinco de Mayo due the National Assembly being close by. The situation in parts of the interior, and Colón, are different, however; and the frustrations (among locals and ex-pats) in parts of Chiriqui, for example, are causing problems. we had a friend planning to see us, as his cruise liner docked in Colón, but the cruise line wouldn't let passengers off (I think for fear of them not getting back in time to sail, if nothing else). However, as you said, if he were coming to PC then everything would have been fine and he could have seen all he needed, and probably not noticed much. All this waffle is essentially to second everything you said in terms of advice. Stay safe, and keep the windows closed when the tear gas is around!
Wow to have a foreign country come in and want your land and take away all access to the native folks should be a huge red flag. I hope it is decided in the best interest of the people of Panama.
Yes for the most part. I would suggest using a pro driver who knows the back routes and the best times to travel. I have the perfect referral.if needed.
On my last two trips to Panama in 2022 and earlier this year, I got the impression that President Cortizo isn’t very popular to begin with and this just makes things worse.
We just left there over the weekend after a week stay, and it was great for us as tourists. The only major challenge was that we couldn't visit the Sunblast Islands due to the roadblocks.
perfect video that is much needed right now... so much good information and wise advice. I' coming for my first visit on Nov 21 and going to stay for a month. planning to stay in a hotel near the airport my first few days and then Casco Viejo for a week. so not too worried about those locations. then I have a week in Coronado booked. was planning to rent a car there to explore that area and then travel further west in the country. havent booked the rental car yet or anything for Valle de Anton or Boquete. so I will continue to hold off, even until I actually arrive in the country. hopefully things may improve before then...
Thanks for the comment. Normally, I would encourage the car rental idea as we did the exact same thing. If the protests are still going, I would suggest using a driver who knows the best times to travel. I have a referral if needed. If you decide to do it yourself, try to do the driving late at night.
@@GoExplorePanamá ya, I figured late at night or early morning. I will reevaluate once I am in the country before going ahead with the car rental... that would be a lot of money to spend if you dont have total freedom of movement. thanks for the reply.
Here's a tip. Don't rent at the airport. Catch a Uber and rent from a spot in the city. It will be much cheaper. The airport car rental will force a bunch of extra insurance on you.
thanks for this. i was hoping to do a scouting mission before retirement this winter. As a Canadian, hopefully we do not get painted too much with the same brush and folks remember we are the good guys. just ignore our government (who would have painted the protesters as terrorists by now) and big corporations (worldwide evil, really) :)
We are very humble, peaceful very welcoming with foreign people. We are very patriotic, we love our nation we prefer to be poor but protect our natural resources. If you go to panama 🇵🇦 don’t criticize our Nation we get very offended. God bless you.
People forget that the WARRIOR Jamaican bloodline runs deep in Panama. Marcus Garvey's UNIA movement was very prominent in Panama and had a huge backing. The BLOODLINE is rising globally so please take the time to educate yourself on the "Great Reset" Prophecy(not to be confused with the Economic agenda that is there to confuse us) as the Ancients foretold all these events that are now taking place. Go within and you will be given ALL your answers. Bless and be safe
I had the pleasure of attending the dedication of the Marcus Garvey statue at the Multicultural Memorial here in the Amador neighborhood of Panamá City. And visiting his old HQ office in Colón. Thanks for watching!
As a Panamanian born, sorry, this is the first time I hear about that Jamaican person. It might be different for those descendants from the Caribbean people who came to Panama to work for the construction of the Canal. Panama’s people is a big mix, mostly native descendants mixed with the Spanish colonizers (called mestizos) and African slaves (usually called negros coloniales) brought to Panama in the colony times, long before the canal construction, which brought a mix too. The Caribbean descendants live mostly in Colon City and areas of Panama City and it’s the reason why they have English family names. ALL that blood is rising today to help protecting the land, the rivers, flora and fauna of Panama, ABOVE ANY MONEY, for the present and future generations and, against corruption. God guide and protect Panama! 🙏🏼
The Panamanian government either needs to back down or stand up. Either give in and cancel the mine deal or take the Pan-American highway back by force. This halfway crap is getting people killed and absolutely gutting your travel income.
@PanamazingTours I understand. I just don't believe in people with nothing to do with the real issue having to go without food, fuel, medicine, or possibly dying. Really sloppy and dangerous.
With all my respect, it looks like you do not understand the situation in Panama. The People in Panama is trying to call the government’s attention, since they are not doing so. Sometimes “extreme measures” bring “extreme answers” and this is the case when is needed, because it’s been the only way the government listen to the people. Sacrifices are needed to have clean, safe water to drink, clean air to breath, to be able to enjoy beautiful nature, and many other reasons, which are probably the same why you want to live in Panama. You are not asked to take part in the protests, but please at least try to understand and be mindful!
Lets talk how the indigenous village have blocked the main highway that connects Panama to Chiriqui, leaving the province with no fuel, propane tank, food and much more to come in Costa rica had to help to get some fuel in but not for everyone theirs no human rights the government or police have not help and left everyone in the province alone today is day 21 and still no telling when the indigenous will agree to a humanitarian corridor.
Ok but first we will need to discuss why the indigenous have been ignored for such a long time and feel like they need to do this. Nothing happens in a vacuum.
Exactly what Mr. Big Will had said, but also, with the mines functioning the indigenous people are the most in danger among all the Panamanians. Do you know where their territory is and the mine projects are? It’s not only that big one functioning right now, but there are another 14 projects in process of approval and also, there are 103 projects in study! Panama, the whole country would have mines all around and the contract gives permission to the mining company to take the lands they consider necessary for their function! If they decide that the land YOU owe is needed, they will expropriate! Won’t you fight against it? That’s the reason they are fighting! They had lost too much already, to let foreigners with the government’s permission to come and take more from them.
When you say the U.S. gave the canal back it implies that the canal was there before and American took the canal away from them. Please use the term gave them the canal and leave the word back out of it. I love Panama but everyone knows the correct history.
I'm a Canadian who has the FNV (since 2013) but I haven't returned to Panama since Dec 2019 -- before ... well, you know ... travel hell ensued! All FNV holders must visit every 2 years. However, with good reason, like in times of crisis (like 2020-22), that can be extended to 6 years. My original idea was a 2 week trip in Dec 2023, but as I'd be going to Chiriqui, I thought it best to hold off now until after the new President is sworn in in July 2024. It should be noted that I have no intention of ever living in Panama really. However, the FNV, like all my other residency visas and multiple passports, offers me peace of mind in order to protect myself against another "WTSHTF" event (e.g., another plandemic). For me, it's a "Plan B" ... nothing more really.
You're incorrect with the protests being non violent, they've attached authorities and and couple murders, fyi police using tear gas isn't considered non-violent 🤔🥴 too long in the states where I guess it's not considered violent 😂👌

You need to stop posting in all caps and understand basic facts. He was born in the Canal Zone. Just like Senator John McCain, who ran for President as a "natural born American citizen." Let that marinate as long as it takes.
He is not an American born citizen! Being born in the Canal Zone does not make you an automatic American citizen, it’s more complicated than that. Again be careful. The tactic of hooking people in to watch your video by putting in a false video title is not right and misleading.
@@shawngodaire7834 🤣🤣🤣you be careful. Being born on a military base to American parents makes one automatically AMERICAN 🤣🤣You are the one ignoring basic 8th grade civics education for Americans. He was born in a US military base hospital in Colon, Rep. of Panama. His dad was a US citizen working in the Canal Zone, his mom was Panamanian. He has both citizenships. And, he has been very involved with the mining company.
