Thank you so much for this brother. You’re telling my family’s story. Came from Jamaica to Panama to work on the railroads. Caribbean creole in Panama is being lost sadly as the older generations start to die. My grandma is 100% Panamanian but her first language was English/Creole. Didn’t learn Spanish until she was much older
Whoah. When I was in Costa Rica in the early 90's, the music we'd know today as reggeaton was mostly associated with Panama and a singer named Gabi. But what I didn't know until I listened to this is that it had to do with the migration of West Indians to Central America, and then this music became viral both in Latin America and the US.
Thank you my brother for the information on the history of Panama, I am doing my research also. As I still plan to retire to Panama, I want to know all about where I will be living and playing. As always my brother great video.
Nice touch on Panamanian history. Haitians and Jamaicans always in the same countries, states, and cities worldwide. Jamaicans in the limelight and Haitians are lowkey. Raggae n Konpa
Panamenians love the spirit of the instrument eventhough the words weren't understood it was received as is coming from our brothers and sisters the same way Jamaican Dominican merengue Cuban American so on, the radio played all types of music however panama has it's own flavor
You should visit panama during the PARADE or CARNIVAL season cause most Panamenians are either in school working or in the house HOWEVER during those times you will see more Panamenians out and about in celebration.
I always wonder did you study the history of Latin America or other countries. I know you mentioned that people don't particularly like the history but it does give a nice backdrop and something to talk about as you traverse the different cities.

Very well put together. As a Panamanian from 19th Street Rio Abajo I can honestly say you did your research. Well done. Look up the Book “Panama In Black” for a more in depth history on this topic.
One other thing Panamenians called it latin reggae we still use reggae beats on our music Puerto Ricans named it reggaeton and added so many other different beats to dilute the reggae beats in reggaeton most reggaeton artis are white latin reggae was started by black Panamenians and some having Jamaican heritage, just to be clear.
Great minds think alike ? I had wondered why they didn't just pump desalinated sea water into the canal. Near to where I live, there is/was? a water technology company that produced equipment that if you threw it into a swamp and turned it on, you got drinkable water. GE bought them out and we have not heard about the company again.
@hockleyvslleycom Why not go back n see what that company is doing any active production of equipment or if there is any activity going on, since u live so close, this would b doable!
I am wondering if in Panama they are considering or even trying to make sure the area is properly forested, because I think many areas are suffering from rainfall decrease and Forest deforestation is a big problem.

Hello, my fellow Jamaican, the video is very informative ❤❤. I have a friend who wants to move to Panama, what are your thoughts and the best places to live?
Its doable but it would "dip" the quality of drinking water for Panama City as they use Lake Gatun as a source of drinking water too... Also, it uses a lot of energy and is costly.
If you boil salt water, the resulting vapor will contain no salt. When the vapor turn liquid again, you've got perfectly drinkable water. The trick is to do it on a large scale for the consumption of a city of 2.5 million people.
