      In short, reality itself.
If you wanted to understand the fall of the Wh40k universe, it is best to understand that the vert fabric of reality itself has turned hostile against the common man.
Acts of brutality aren't condemning because they are a necessity. You can't blame entitrely what the Inquistion, Ecclesiarchy or even the average man does, when your living in a world that is out to kill you from the moment your born.
Mercy? Prepare to get defiled as atonement.
Reasoning? Better hope the other side simply headshots you soon.
Kindness is the only thing still applicable and universal, but it is a strange commodity that doesn'f translate well even between individuals.
That doesn't there isn't a chance. Hope is dead, but the spirit still lives. Its what the Imperium stands for deep down.

Thrawn once again demonstrates his superior tactical and strategic mind by being one of the few figures from the Star Wars universe who has thought to stop, take a step back, and ask why the Imperium is the way it is. What could drive a society to become so massively militarised and extremely xenophobic? He then came to the logical conclusion - there must be forces back in the Imperium's home galaxy that have shaped the Imperium as a society, most likely incredibly dangerous foes that have necessitated the creation of such a monstrous war machine as the Imperial military. Thrawn does not yet know the true nature of those threats, but he has correctly deduced their existence. He is the canary in the coal mine. The question now is whether anyone will pay heed to his warnings before it is too late.

Fortunately most of those trillions of troops are busy being fed to the Nids, orcs, demons etc or suppression of rebellion and heresy. So ironically the Future Galactic Empire is in the perfect position to learn from this invasion and have a TRULY real reason to form an effective military. I foresee Darktrooper/Astartes analogues. Phase III from Darktroopers game is already an Astartes AT LEAST level unit.

I think it could make it into a nice crossover. The force is basically the effect of the warp on the real world. They believe, that it comes from life, but instead life, and the souls of the living are merely windows to the warp. In the SW galaxy the warp is somewhat different, and instead of the 40k. chaos gods there are only two. Light, and Dark side. And these two are constantly fighting, and sometimes decide to use their pawns in the living world as well for the fun of it.

It's how he knows them, and in truth, given the way either psykers and Force Users work, they effectively become two sides of the same coin, as the Warp and the Force are the primal forces of the universe itself in both respective settings, with a lot of overlap. The number of ships, tanks, and bodies that the Imperium can throw at any given problem is beyond comprehension by Star Wars standards. You could reasonably make the argument that the Imperium can’t actually bring its full night against the Empire because their forces are way too tied up on other fronts, and that’s legitimate… but then it’s not truly a pure analysis of the Imperium versus the Empire anymore.

The problem is it wouldn't be MAD, at least not in the sense you would envision it especially if we assume that the Imperium is still fighting it's usual mess. The Imperium would send it's generally much more developed special forces sector to take out Palatine and his cronies inevitably and then leave what's left of the decapitated snake that is the Star Wars Galaxy to be slowly eaten away by the Imperium as their special forces routinely have to be sent out to ensure that no one that can unify the Star Wars Galaxy like Palps can and while the Imperium colonial authority continues to slowly gobble up more territory and integrate it. Because the alternative to the Imperium abusing their space magic and various super soldiers and specialists to keep the will of the Star Wars Galaxy permanently divided is them trying to fight a conventional war against the entirety of the Star Wars Galaxy which they are guaranteed to lose even if they were fully free of their various home galaxy threats and with those threats still in play they are literally asking for Terra itself to be inevitably destroyed. Because the thing about the Imperium is that compared to even the fecklessness of the Republic, they're big, clumsy, slow, and stupid and consistently remain as such. In the course of 50 or so odd years, they Star Wars Galaxy went from having planet destroying firepower on the drawing board to building two death stars, one star killer base, hyperspace tracking, and the stupid but stupidly powerful Exegol fleet which is literally a fleet of ten thousand star destroyer sized combatant that manage to squeeze in Death Star levels firepower in a size not even the size of typical Imperium escort ships. Inevitably, given this and the fact that an intergalactic war like this would take centuries at the bare minimum to resolve, canonically, at the bare minimum of we start the war from this point in the Clone Wars, the Imperium would be mere decades away from having to contend with super weapons that would ruin their day and that aren't just one off or super special awesome and difficult to replicate to the point where they could just make another or more eventually and en masse. So, yeah, the Imperium inevitably loses a slugfest which is what most people envision when they discuss this topic and most people want to see, but has a hilariously easy instant win button by clandestine means if they actually approach this even with a moderate level of strategic acumen and desire to play to their strengths and their enemy's weaknesses.

    • @VunderGuy
      @VunderGuy ปีที่แล้ว +42

Nope. Even with no other enemies, the Star Wars Galaxy would inevitably maul them by UP TECHING so hard if the war was fought in the way you and most people think of: conventionally. The Imperium either wins by decapitation strikes followed up by more decapitation strikes with their much better special forces sector or they get inevitably ground down to star dust.

I don't like it being done through the lense of the hints of them we've seen at Axum, if he's getting information from captured Imperials and material, then he'd at least have good intel on at least the Nids that BattleFleet Xek-Tek was fleeing from, as well as any other Xenos captured personel might be veterans of conflict with.

    Dear Thrawn,
For an Abhuman, you and your chiss ascendency show incredible insight and wisdom for reaching such a conclusion, however there are some misunderstandings that I would like to correct, in the spirit of academia
In line with darwinistic competition, the sheer amount of hypercompetitiveness found in the Milky Way galaxy has made our Imperium a powerhouse, both culturally and militarily like a rock unmoveable to the raging ocean. You've no doubt seen the bloodshed on the latest battle between our empires. The battle of Axum. And can attest to our inherent superiority over your galaxy. You are right to see this
However we are not as you call, a "prey society" In our home galaxy, we are surrounded on all sides by multiple hostile factions, both xenos, heretic, and worse. Each of these factions would take an extensive book to fully explain, but know that were it not for the others, our imperium would have destroyed them centries ago. We are not as a deer or rabbit to be feasted upon wolves, we are like a great leviethan bloodied by a swarm of sharks. A vast majority of the factions, are far greater than your Republic or Seperatist alliance, and know that we have held them back for 10,000 years, and know that with the return of Guilliman the emperors favored primarch, we will hold them back another 10,000 years
We will see you and your chiss ascendency soon Thrawn. I hope you will have the wisdom to submit

Well, in the context of the fanfic story that this was based on, the Imperium have so far taken over two Republic worlds, razed a good chunk of the the CIS territories, and have set up a colonization mission on Tatooine. In other words, it is not the type of incursion that can be ignored or will be forgotten anytime soon. For that matter, there might not even be a Galactic Empire in this universe, since the appearance of the Imperium have already thrown the entire TL on its head, with Padme surviving the birth of Luke and Leia, not to mention all the other changes to the universe.

Well, in the story that this video was based on, the Imperials did develop a Knight unit on the battlefield against the Republic. So Thrawn would know that it is real. After this discussion with Thrawn, and comprehending the level of threat the galaxy is under, Lord Sidious has a change of heart. He realizes that his dreams of immortality are threatened, and that without support of the entire galaxy, he will lose everything he had worked for. Inspired by the legend of the God Emperor, the Sith Lord decides to try his own hand at uniting the galaxy, rather than trying to subjugate it. He simply does not have the forces necessary to both hold onto power through fear, and fight against whatever it is the Imperium of Man deals with on the daily. He will have to bite his lip and make peace with his enemies, or lose everything.
On the upside, the trials ahead will ensure he will not have to endure this humiliation for long. The great evil the Empire will have to face will be more than enough to finally end support for the Rebellion, and have them brought back into the fold. Rather than lowering himself to the level of the disgustingly altruistic peons he holds himself superior to, he will have an opportunity to raise them up to be more like himself, to have them embrace the dark side; because if they don't, they will die...and it won't even have to be at his, his apprentice's, or his military's hand. Their moral assertions will simply not allow them to survive what is coming. Perhaps that alone will make the experience of returning to the benevolent politician he was once pretended to be, tolerable.
    *Que evil Emperor laugh.
