I like how the perspective changes in Helldivers 2 when you're dropping in or getting picked up because the top-down reminds me of the first game's style (which I have not played but I appreciate the touch)

Lmfao so true honestly. Except it’s the same studio for Helldivers 2 and they aren’t creatively bankrupt as Bethesda was for simply rehashing story elements from the original Fallout games. Shit, even Obsidian made a better Fallout than Bethesda.

I actually played the first when I was at my cousins place a while back that I forgot. Only as I started playing the 2nd recently with my brothers online, I was reminded of it.

A great game that i got for free on PlayStation store at that time. Also great as multiplayer game when my cousins came over to my house.
try turning off camera shake and motion blur. Usually those two are the source of the pain

I used to play the first one when I was around 7-9 yrs old summer of the best days of gaming ever. Can't wait to buy a ps5 to try out part 2 for myself

Both games are amazing but I gotta say I like the 3rd person shooter style way more than the “league of legends top-down” camera angle.
Remember playing helldivers when my pc was taken away and downloaded it on the psn store from my brothers ps4

I played Helldivers 1 a few years ago with my friends on PS4. Really glad to see it getting super popular thanks to the sequel

Looking at Helldiver 1, I felt like I've played a very similar game.
And it does seem nicely inspired by Alien swarm.
I wouldn't be surprise if the people behind those two games were somehow the same (not same studio but you know, people move.)
I also thought of Alien Swarm when I learnt of helldivers 1 earlier because Im still actively playing ASRD today lol

Yes. It made the game more difficult. When I first started back then, just shooting was difficult. It took skill to land those perfect shots dead center of an enemy (doing so dealt critical damage and was a fantastic skill to have on Helldive difficulty)

Ngl, HD1 still holds up.
Not gonna lie when i got the game for free on ps plus way back when, the twin stick shooter + tied camera aspect turned me off over time. (among dying getting out of stationary vehicles and the like)
Still liked the lore, character designs, and punching in stratagems though
But years later when the sequel was announced as a 3rd person shooter and a friend who still regularly played hd1 was hyped for the sequel, I in turn got hyped for it as well
so you already know I had to stay on top of all the marketing (or lack thereof) and pre-order the bitch
Now im hoping they bring back the angel stratagem and the randomizer xp bonus, cause those were my favorite things to use from hd1 in the time that I played.

First one requires actual skill to avoid friendly fire and has a much higher skill ceiling.

i personally enjoyed it when it was free on PS4, (i think around 5/6 years ago?) , but i couldn't really work out the stealth mechanics and got spotted by literally every patrol that went past lol.
It's the perfect couch game to play with friends. But in this day and age where almost no one even bothers to buy more than 2 controllers for their console anymore, 3rd person sells more copies.
I enjoy both games but had way more fun when I used to play the first game with my mates. I miss those days...
