Not the most flawless process, but it was all that I needed. Thanks for the visuals and help in influencing how I'll get this job done for myself. Its people like you even as obscure as the source is that saves the day
Just did a stereo install myself on my Expedition along with a rear camera. My daughter wanted a new aftermarket on her 2006 Kia Rio so I decided to check a few videos on how to remove the trim, your video by far was the most helpful on trim removal. Thanks good job but on another note LOL you also shown that if you get the right wiring harness and fit kit this install would be a breeze. Great Tutorial....
I was going to get the metra 70-1004 harness. Is that the one you got the first time? I'm nervous about getting the wrong one. The steps seem identical for 2006-10 accents, for any who care.
I can't find any videos on the 06 kia optima. I am starting to get into cars and I want to start on mine. First with the stereo, then the speakers, etc. I want to give the whole interior a makeover so it isn't all tan
Thats a pretty nifty radio :) I'd have asked what the size of the old unit as I'm potentially going to replace the 6 CD stacker unit in mine with a android equivalent.
Sorry i didn't make it clear as to what color wires went where. I used a volt meter to figure out which wires were the hot, ignition and ground. I then powered it up.. and then just connected the similar wires (each set going to a specific speaker) and was able to figure out which set went to the speaker i wanted. Hope that helps.
raphael lanctot So sorry for the delay, I kind of posted this video and forgot about it.... I hope your install went okay... Most of the wires are for speakers... You can probably narrow them down by hooking the similar colored wires up to some kind of a sound generating device - like an old boom box or stereo or something so you can hear the sound coming from the speaker. the rest will be power. Most likely 3 of them will be Negetive ground, postive (only when ignition is turned on) and positive (constant power) If you connect these to a simple 12 volt light bulb ( like from your dome light).. it should like up and let you know which is which. Be careful not to touch them together as you might blow a fuse. If you do .. simply replace fuses on your fuse box. hope that helps... I know it's late. lol take care.
