Someone wanted to charge me 300 dollars for this. Haha! How about 45 minutes of my time and some elbow grease instead. Jagoff.
This is so helpful. I'm pretty good at DIY, but would not have attempted that job without seeing this video as had no idea how a Yaris dash and original stereo was even fitted. You made it really simple - and great hints about protecting the dash when taking out the radio and not losing the screws etc. Thanks so much - you're a star!
I really like the way you explained everything step by step, and pointed out all the little pitfalls. It's unfortunate that the 2008 Yaris 4-door base model sold in the US (which is also called the Yaris sedan, and may not be available elsewhere) is quite different - I'm expecting that the Android Auto head unit I've ordered is going to need some cutting to fit. Some of the differences in the version I have:
* There is more space between the A/C vents, and the emergency flasher switch is between them
* There are no knurled wheels to adjust the vent louver angle
* There are three knobs on the bottom section of the fascia rather than 1.

Just wondered, can you use the wheel controls to operate the replacement head unit, or would I need an additional adapter for that?
You would need an adapter that matched the make of the aftermarket radio.
Brilliant video, & so easy to follow. I’ve a 2008 Yaris, same factory unit, that I’m replacing with a pioneer cd Apple play unit. As I currently have steering wheel controls would I need to buy connect 2 SWC adaptor for the pioneer, as well as an ISO fitting harness, along with the replacement facia kit? Many thanks.

Hello, i bought 2din to Yaris 2010 but remotes on steering wheel doesnt work, i dont know why, do i need some adapter?
Please can someone tell me what type and size of screws I need to mount the stereo to the dash. It's four screws and they're missing on my car.
Very good instructional video, especially with all the clips that I would've probably broke if I hadn't seen this video. The steering wheel controls dont work now unfortunately, but its easy to change the volume with the radio knob.
Thank you! I accidentally pushed the heat dial all the way into the dashboard. Popped right out after I got the radio panel out. A bit of glue, and now I can use the AC dial again lol.

Hello, are the steering wheel buttons are working well, is non factory radio is compatible with them?
This is a great video. I just did my own and couldnt have done it without you. The only thing I would add from my own experience (2007 Yaris mfg in France) is that the plastic around the speedometer comes with the stereo when you do it in these steps. No harm when i yanked it all of together, but i suppose the speedometer plastic should technically come off first and back on last.

How did you find the fit an finish of the facia kit? I've heard people say the silver colour is way off the original and that the trim doesn't sit flush?

I have a question, what radio are you using for this replacement?
Looks like a Pioneer from a few years back.
They change the range once a year so suggest you ask a retailer for what is current.
Did you plug the iso wire pack straight into the new unit or did you plug it into the wire pack that comes with the stereo first? Also, on another video you discussed the pioneer sph-da230 unit (I’ve just ordered one). How do I install that green handbrake cable so it is legal on a Yaris like this one? Thanks :)
Some Yaris models are on what is called ISO connections and so plug directly in to the wire that comes with the new radio,some however require an adapter cable (see example below).
As for the green wire you will need to connect it to the earth wire at the base of the handbrake,you should see a push on spade connector after removing the trim and carpet,test this is a earth with a meter or test probe and crimp or solder onto that cable for your switched earth.

Steering controls will not work unless you buy the correct adapter for your spec car.
Give your reg number to an audio retailer so they can I’d the exact one you need.

No that one does not work with steering controls. It's just for aftermarket radio fitment power and audio.

Their was when this video was made, a company called Connects2 made them, you would need to check with retail, EBay or Amazon now days.

Hello the wire harness coming from the car has two different ports but loooed up the radio you Installed and it look like it only had one place you could put a plug in in this correct did you only use one plug instead of the two??

You would need to ask a retailer or go in the Pioneer web site for the display size of what ever model is current as this one will not be made any more.

My Toyota Yaris 2009 MK2 stereo does not have the usual Aerial socket like the one in your video.
My stereo only has the plastic connectors and this is confusing me as i have bought an inline aerial amplifiyer which i can't fit as i don't have the usual aerial socket in my car radio.
On all the yaris car stereo's that i have seen on youtube they have the same connections as the one in your video.

Wow, what a frickin' nightmare.... Toyota really makes this a Pain in the arse... My 1997 Toyota - Plug'n-play (no fascia, adapters, etc that I recall :P ). They have gone from 'easy to fix'/DIY Dream to proprietary in a generation.

Help! I’m trying to find a video on removing the lower lower trim panel to gain access to the cigarette lighter panel. My cigarette lighter no longer works so I’m installing a 2 port usb 3.0 power source to charge phones. It will be wired directly to the battery. After watching your video, It looks like removing the stereo then the climate control knob panel would then give access to this piece. Can you confirm/deny?

No not without a steering control interface, either ask your retailer or look on the Connects2 web site for details as they are car/spec specific.

Hi! I know this video is from 2 years ago but it’s still helpful. I have a Toyota Yaris from 2007 and I did all the installation of my 2 din radio based on this video. However my new radio doesn’t have the same hole for the screws than the steel plates… therefore I can’t finish it… with the box came 2 other plates but I can’t seem to understand how to do it anyways…. How many inches was the screen?
The radio size is double din, no idea on screen size as i fitted hundreds of different radios, the manufacturer web site will have those details.

Should have the same connection when it’s removed.
Being in the trade I’ve done hundreds of them without any problems.

Just connect the radio parking brake wire to the black earth cable, this will bypass it.

I was trade fitting car electronics all day every day, you would need to see a retailer but bear in mind this radio is years old and is no longer manufactured.
Can you fit mk3 radio?
Nothing is impossible, always just a case of time/skill/worth.

Yes your new radio will have a instruction manual detailing that the blue wire powers your aftermarket amp remote input and the new radio should have pre outs on the back to run your rca cables to the aftermarket amp for the signal. Your new amp should have an instruction manual showing speaker outputs that can then be ran to your speakers.

I would say if you are not all thumbs you can do it.
Tips:
- check your radio that you have the same connectors as shown before buying adaptors. (mine has a completely different antenna connector that needs a wired adaptor too)
- the "spare" connector is for steering wheel controls. So if you have those and want them to keep working you need an adaptor for that as well. (have not yet researched if those are available or have to be improvised)
As for parts numbers those can change depending on the radio toyota used.
- Radio: use any double din size radio with ISO connectors you like (the one in this vid is apperently no longer available)
- Facia (face plate) CT24TY22 this number is silver. (should contain everything you don't scavenge from the existing radio)
- wiring adaptors: use the one shown in this vid (if you have the same connectors as shown) or search "Toyota ISO adaptor" and compare the toyota side with foto from your radio.
might be a dumb question but how big of screen can I fit with that fascia? As I can't find any measurement for the screen wise.
