      I did the same in my room, a big angle desk, in the corner the computer, on une side art/craft, and the other side has a blanket for my cats to be near me but not on my art supplies! It's still permanently messy tho

    •  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +52

      Her computer desk setup is clean... NOW. You get all kinds of stuff in there in no time and ain't nobody got time to clear that out every time. Also, art projects usually mean paints, glue and many other possible contaminants, you really don't want any of that around the computer.

    As a contractor/handyman, I've always been impressed by the things you've built. This is awesome, it came out perfect. It's hard to explain the amount of work that goes into doing something like this. You guys nailed it. The bed is so cool. You didn't take the easy route of just folding it back. It's always fun to test yourself. As a builder, nothing feels better than stepping back and looking at what you've accomplished. Normally it's always for someone else to enjoy lmao. If you are going to do pulleys, you really need to be using wire cable, not rope. The issue is not just the friction, it is the ropes stretching.

    • @hallambaker
      @hallambaker 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +192

      If you do switch, you will need to replace the delrin pulleys with metal.
      I put quite a bit of thought into this while planning the hanging of my 11 foot Star Trek Enterprise hero prop in the garage. Probably will be the same weight as your bed. You tube vids of people making various heavy systems all go with wire cables.

    @10:03 Small suggestions:
    1- make the front side of the drawer to be flippable.... OR :
    2- remove the left side board of that top drawer, move the drawer rail to the top , now when u open u will have at least more space in and out.. you can strengthen the left side if needed by doing it as one peice of frame and add another rail to the drawer bottom to hold the weight.

    Martina hide your mistakes by taking your top drawers out, and turning them into shelves then put the drawer fronts back on with hinges so they still look like drawers but are really sneaky shelves!

    Now I'm imagining Martina doing work at her desk, hearing a thud behind her, and it's her guest, that rolled over in their sleep, off the bed.

    I really like the pulldown bed above the table idea! It's a gerat way to combine the "empty space" requirements of 2 parts of the room into 1. (empty space above the table, so you have good access to whatever you have there, and empty space above the bed, so you can get in the bed)

    Really good use of space. Making the room bigger with more light is a good move. The only thing that we're wondering about is why the acoustic panels are above the bed/mattress? Wouldn't it do more if you placed some under the bed and thereby also hid the bed slats?
    In its all, it's a great build.

    Why not put a couple hinges on the front panel of the top drawer so the front will open down and you can put stuff in from the front instead of the side?

    It's soo good! I'm also a time optimist, getting into ridiculously big projects that take way longer than I thought all for the sake of optimizing efficiency and accessibility because also lazy 😂 I hate shuffling things around and want all my tools and materials easily accessible with good esthetics and LEDs of course. Glad to know there are others with the same affliction 💜

    You could put a shelf in place of the top drawer under your desk. I'd also cover the under side of the bed with the same slat panels you put in above it.

    Honestly I doubted the pulley bed every step of the way since I'm so fearful for your monitor but it's actually so cool! You could get an adjustable monitor arm for it too and just move it up and down if you want to save your neck when editing. :)

    You could make it so that the railing on the bed folds down so that you could still have your legs over the side if you wanted for gaming and movies and stuff(but it would obviously have a lock on it like the bed does so it doesnt just fall down)

    Hi! I think the same about the art desk…use, remove, clean…..it takes away the desire to do something. When I was a child my bed was also up, and down was my space for reading and things (it did not move) and now in my own house I make a big bookcase, it reaches the ceiling, I adore books, it has a space behind for big things, like your space for cancases. Congratulations your room is so great!🎉😊

    Buy two desks, so you can also have a messy desk that you never clean and a work desk so you don’t feel bad about your room being a mess.
    Anyway, on a more serious note, your work is incredible as usual. I am incredibly jealous of your pull down bed despite not wanting to sleep above the floor.

    this is def one of your most amazing projects so far! Planning out an actual ROOM with so many things that are intended for double usage is soooo hard to do! you guys are amazing 🩷
    A small tip for that one drawer that got too close to the top to actually be functional: We had the same problem here at home, and what we did was basically get rid of the front part of the drawer, so it works as a small open cabinet that you can store books, notebooks etc!

  • @areksoo
    @areksoo 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    Love this. It reminds of your old videos when you guys did more home projects like that secret room. I too made a room that's my gaming/TV/art... but changed to office due to COVID room. I too used Ikea furniture for the legs of the desk. I even ran into the exact same problem you have with not getting much access to the top drawer under the table top. I swapped it out for shelves and a door. You guys can go that extra mile of using the drawer fronts as the door, so it doesn't change the aesthetics.

    I see you discovered the "Löwenzahn" bed for yourself (because its similar to the bed Peter Lustig builds for himself in the TV series Löwenzahn).
    My one reservation with the setup of this kind of bed, as cool as it is, is the possibility of one of its parts breaking and the whole thing falling down, so I'd be far too afraid to keep expensive stuff, like computers, under there.

    • @theresabu3000
      @theresabu3000 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think she has physical stops there, that prevent the bed from going further down. 🤗😇
      I did worry about the monitor at the beginning, but it looks fine now, from a different angle.
      I don't love that you see the underside of the bed /slats - maybe she could cover that up with not see trough fabric, so it's still breathable?
      That's only the perfectionist in me though, the rest looks so amazing and definitely her style. 😎🤣

    1:45 I found out a long while ago that there is an architecture software for big projects where a lot of equipment is used and the software can have each day and tasks planned out. The example they gave was when one crew was working on something and the big crane was doing it's thing and the software found out or discovered how that would not work. I don't know the name of that software but instead of building a model to figure out where/when things might go bananas, you can have the option of designing the architecture and the day to day process of building it. Cool management technique IMHO. 😊 Just FYI.

    Martina: I completely understand the problem estimating time needed to accomplish, well, anything. I have ADHD, and one of my symptoms is called "Time Blindness." It's an actual phenomenon that a lot of creative people have to deal with, as we tend not to account for travel time, preparation time, the duration of a given task, or cleanup time with any accuracy. However, I do have a wonderful wife who regularly gives me reminders about budgeting time; from the video, it sounds like Hansi tries to help you out in the same way.

    You should add hinges to the drawer faces for the drawers stuck sideways under the desk. That way, you can access the full drawer.
