RULES
1. Only Mario may attack, use items, use skills, etc. All other characters must defend.
2. All other characters must be nude, but they may perform defensive action commands
3. The only exception to rule 1 is the cake fight, in which all characters may act only during phase 2 (the candle phase)
4. No lazy shell armor, super suit, red essence, or star egg
5. No hacks, cheats, or glitches
6. No triple attacks or use of the action gauge (except when the game forces it)

My first run of Switch Mario RPG is currently entering the Volcano, and I have made it a point to use Mallow and Geno because gotta fill the monster list, and Geno.
Mallow + Work Pants + Speed accessory (Zoom Shoes into Troopa Pin) is just so bonkers effective. Mallow has legit been my most powerful character in this run, and I love it. ♥
Also, every time I learn something new about the Tantacles Cinematic Universe (this time, the vegetarian thing) is always amusing.

@@mistahl5350 So it was confirmed to be an invisible wall blocking the original after the Mack scenario? I remember that was one of the top theories but I never went into an editor like Lazy Shell to confirm it myself.
@@apollolux I'm not 100% certain that it is, but it makes sense when you could get close enough with the toads roaming the hallway in the original and still get blocked.
A few 'Differences Between Remake and Original' videos point it out as an invisible wall, so that's what I'm going off of.

You can skip fighting the ants - you just need to walk up to them and when they make that whooshing sound of emerging, angle your joystick to run away from them. They’ll jump back in the whirlpool and you can then just quickly follow before they pop up in the other whirlpools or the same whirlpool
To avoid the ants you let the ant pop out of the vortex and it will do two little hops and go back underground. If your timing is good you can follow it underground without fighting it and get to monstro town
Everyone plays as Mario only. After other characters join, they quickly (ridiculously) disappear.
Believe it or not but Exor was pretty much the bane of my existence for much of my late childhood and spawned many many nightmares and restless nights due to how scary and difficult he was when I first fought him. Sure I took me many more years to get used to the timed hits in this game but.. come on bear with me. This boss was even harder than Smithy himself! So... I think Exor deserves a spot high up on my list of the scariest video game bosses of all time.

No in the remake the CAKE boss both the normal boss and the post game rematch still can't be KILLED SOLO so no.
Also Bower can't DIE in this remake unless you use one of those 3 party member combo moves on him ELSE his HP will NEVER hit zero.
In the strictest sense, yes, SMRPG is not soloable at all, no matter who you pick to run. But in the events of fights where it is literally impossible to win solo, those battles don't invalidate the run. Think of it like an asterick after the title.
* discounting the Boywer, Cake x2, Johnny 1v1, and Valentina fights.
Same thing with forced double battles in solo Pokemon runs.

This may have just been a coincidence, but I noticed for the ants that when I was going through, if I came up from behind them, they would skip the fight.

@@GhostOfRazgiz Well, if nothing else, we do know Johnny Jones can be done with only Mario... you know, because he specifically challenges Mario to a 1-on-1 duel.
Actually its impossible Booster/Cake boss have 9999 damage attacks and the Cake rematch can't be done solo in order to DAMAGE Punchinello the ENTIRE party must attack the 4 bombs it summons and for a solo run you simply can't hit enough of them and if you don't TIMED defense when those bombs explode they will kill even a lv 30 Lazy Shell armor user in 1 hit and So will Punchinello's physical hits 300+ damage if you don't block it to reduce it to zero.
Jinx Rematch is similar to Bower UNTIL you use a 3x combo move on Jinx he has INFINITE HP and can't EVER die.
Culex 3D is TOO lethal to fight solo.
That Mage Head luck... I've had plenty of final fights where he just loves the invincible form. Back in the original and before i knew how to get more elemental bombs lol
Each head form has a damage threshold of 3333 HP, once they hit that, he will never switch to that form again.
I'd say this run was fire, but jumps are better. So Tantacles, your videos got mad hops!

I can’t imagine how hard it would be to do a solo challenge in SMRPG while consciously avoiding timed blocks for the other characters. Usually I’m pressing the button before I actually mentally process who the target was. 😂
from what i remember you can set a lot of stats in the files... if youre going to do this with the other characters, I can try to get you a mod that makes the 4 characters you arent going to use have 1 hp (if you want it).

Anyway, I can help you out on the second form smithy. Essentially the head has 9999 HP, and he shifts between 3 forms.
The thing to note however, is each form only has 3333 HP, and after it reaches that threshold, he will never use that form again, which is why you kept getting mage form, as that's the one you did the least amount of damage to.

I would say that partners being targetable doesn’t necessarily make it “Mario only”. You’d have to have your partners dead so they aren’t targets of attacks.
Not sure if it’s even possible that way but it’s worth distinguishing

Hear me out. But as you know original smrpg Geno was the lowest about 18 right and Mario was bit over 20 and now he was able to beat it at level 15 in this so.
So how much is different for Geno specifically would he be able to beat it at level 10 or something?
@Tantacles: His it posible to only beat it with mario, the answer is no because you already broken the rules. I'm not talking about the one that force you to do a tripple attack, you still attack with Bowser and Geno and that was obviously not force to do so. So your test become invalid. Unless somehow the top part of the cake only gets defeated if all member attack at least once, but I really thought they program it that way.
I did not break the rules. The cake fight is clearly noted as an exception in the rules in the description.

Mack was an obscure reference even to the original's time (similar to why the Bruce Lee comment got cut, I'm pretty sure).
Spearovich is a pretty good translation of Yaridovich (yari is spear in Japanese, but it'll make more sense to western audiences).
In the case of Mack the Mack the Knife song is STILL copyrighted and the ORIGINAL Singer to that song would NOT allow the remake to keep the Mack name intact because of that song.

Yes! Mario's regular degular jump attack gains extra power every time you use it.
