Ah yes, leave it to challenge runners to take the jump out of Jump Man.
For the 1k time
So… he’s just Man
nintendo did that when they made super mario run
@@octobepis No, you could still jump in SMR - in fact there isn't much else you CAN do when playing the actual levels. So if anything, Run was when Mario was at his jumpiest.
Ah yes, MAN. My favorite Mario character
Anyone else think it’s weird that an rpg requires more jumps than many of the platformers beaten with this challenge?
Platformer based games usually have slightly more complex movement options than a turnbased rpgs (mario and luigi games are slight but not major difference)
Love the edits, it’s like getting a challenge run and a Super Mario RPG Abridged at the same time
Honestly I got carried away with all the edits, but I had fun making them so Im glad ya liked em :)
Looking up codes is 100% fair game. Challenge runners usually abuse game quirks to improve their challenges so I see no issues with that here

This area has multiple possible outcomes after the pipe according to the order in which you hit the faces. Most of them requires to hit a block, but some contains 3 battles against some enemies, which you can do jumpless and evade one jump
9:57 - "Oh now, Patrick, I'm just like any one else.
No matter how many stars I have (*ahem*) _seventy-four."_
@DpadGamer 19:06 You can save a Jump or two, by jumping off the Shawman's head and onto the tongue.
I did not expect the level design of this game to be so intricate.
Regarding the sunken ship password, challenge runs like this are usually about using everything at your disposal to minimize the relevant number regardless of the exact nature of the method (assuming it is within the stated restrictions). Unless specified otherwise, things like exploits or glitches are not only accepted but outright encouraged in most cases.
All you really need to look at is the A button challenge in SM64. That is WAY beyond knowing the answer to a riddle.
I didn’t realize just how many times you have to jump in this game! The edits are hilarious too!
Holy moly, I guess it was very tough doing this chalange, D pad gamer. ❤
Thank you for your amazing voice acting as mallow
There are 3 jumps that can be saved in Belome's Temple.
A thumbnail of culture I see.
Enjoyed the run!
Nice editing here!
lowest level for "why is everyone screaming I destroyed him in 23 rounds without intense statboost combos and 100 chainjumps ez" next?
Great video! Love the edits. Super underrated
Thanks :]
4:45 purple King K. Rool as Croco just killed me
Bonus challenge for the viewers: Every time Mario jumps, you have to jump too.
Very entertaining editing. The run was really cool too.
Glad you enjoyed it :)
on the matter of "doing things legitimately", i dont think its relevent. the titular question is "how many jumps *does* it take" not "how many jumps does it tame *me*". ergo, both "jumping" into save blocks and the password puzzle skips are fine. the question is being asked of the hypothetical "min jumps" run, not the jumps you used to beat it. sort of like the idea of a "sum of best" or TAS demos in speedrunning. that also means that, in my books, you dont strictly have to restart if you find yourself failing a section and having to backtrack and i think you should remember that for your own sanity in future, assuming you dont already just "retry" by navigating back to the start rather than reloading. its not a contest so i think most of us would agree if you don't do it "legit" its not a problem; like only counting the number of jumps it takes to do the spinning flower trick successfully or only counting the platforming section attempt that succeeds or is the theoretical best but beyond your personal ability.
Yooooo, the frolf reference! Best game ever
23:03 Not this spot, but there's a tree monster with a spiny below. This spiny can be jump on quite easy.. no clue if it saves a jump or not since I didn't see it in your gameplay.
The fact that Mario can walk underwater, but can't just swim across a short distance and has to jump across a bunch of tadpoles; is a little funny.
11:59 Was That Pingu, Was He Looking out the window before Bowser Hits Him
Rad video, man
Very nice!
"You're forced to memorize because you only have five seconds to answer."
...You mean you hadn't yet figured out that you could just push the homescreen button to pause the timer and look up the question and answer? Oh, you poor soul.
... *sobs*
11:59 I hope in not the only one that thought of Monty Python and the Holy Grail here
Ayyy! That was exactly what I was going for, I just wasn't sure if it came across well enough.
did NOT expect that voice acting
"Those stairs are your sins, Mario. All 286 of 'em."
Sweet video
I love these videos.
I counted 47 on the tower 47!
Mario RPG needs more jumps than all previous mario games combined... neat
You’re right, Mallow is my new favorite soft boi
Funny how an rpg needed so many more jumps than all those platformers you did.
it is. but also consider the length of the RPGs verses the platformers. when you look at the optimal min jumps paths on the platformers v RPG on a "per play time" basis then they probably have a similar density of jumps, just that with the RPG there's a lot more game to go through
mr.💀 at 8:45
Keep an eye out on this jump number, and see how many jumps it takes to get through just this section, its a lot, (counter: 44) 12:18, 13:26 the counter is now at 91, meaning he jumped 47 times just in this section,
The one and only thing I don't like about this remake is the unnecessary name changes. Like, I get changing Frogfucius to Frog Sage, but c'mon... Mack to Claymorton? Yaridovich to Speardovich? Why??? We can see that Mack is on a giant bouncy sword. We can see that Yaridovich is a spear. To my knowledge, there's nothing offensive about either of those names, so why even change them?
That said, love the run. Despite my nitpick, I'd still love to play the remake myself.
19:06 I got a tutorial for an easy setup, to jump on the shawman's head.
This is my favorite video game
There's a speedrun trick where you can skip the Belope Temple switches by jumping on the edge of the shaman's head. This would save jumps.
ironically.
If the game doesn't require you to find the hints, it's fair game to skip them.
Mario skips leg day run
I am questioning why I enjoy the remake so much better than the original since it’s barely any different.
11:09 don’t you have to use it in the forest in the boss battle?
30:29 save a jump by using the ghost?
I like the idea but logistically since crossing that gap only requires two jumps we would have to jump onto the ghost and then jump off so it wouldn't really save anything
Hold on, they aren’t the Power Rangers. They are the Psycho Rangers or Lord Zedd’s Dark Rangers
I know they're the Axem Rangers, but now I think they're all dead rangers :D
i recon like 3
284...!!
19:05 you could jump on his head on to ledge to save a few jumps
@@DPadGamerits a speed run trick so might be little hard to pull off called belome skip it was in the snes version too th-cam.com/video/ki_urOWhqII/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=MTP
Ohhhh I see what you mean, yea dang that'd totally remove some jumps, thanks for the video reference!
Huh- uploaded 3 weeks ago but only 77 comments??
Need to get this for the husband.
poor mallow😭
30:47 Trophy Thomas has a clock for a brother?
No I meant TT from diddy kong racing
I think a cooler run would be a jumpless run, just sayin'
I SAW SHRECK
4:05 sound source?
It's from the vid "Dog of Wisdom"
9:54 WHAT is that lazer from
Made in Abyss the video game, I pulled the sound from one of the Fate animes
Unwahoo
Guys he is alive
This video took far too long to cook, but I hope it is still tasty.
Am I the only one who found smithy to be a pretty easy fight?
Hmmm probably not. I did the bare minimum amount of fights tbh, basically never did any side objectives (lest i be required to jump) so I felt a little under geared for Smithy.
the blacksmith knows how to forge a sword; the warrior knows how to forge a victory.
I wouldn't say better music. The remakes music has zero energy. The OG soundtrack blows the remakes 10 times over
If you play post game content you have got a lot of jumps on that game😅
Just visiting Frog Sage for the sake of my easter egg video drove me crazy.
I have to stop here, I dont want any game spoilers 15:27 im very sorry
@DpadGamer 20:20 You can't walk along the edge, to fall onto the Jump pad???
I tried and tried but Mario can't cut that corner
@@DPadGamer ok, just wondered for this one
