I think if you have an American passport like I do, transit visa is not required. Not sure about other countries

Did u have a conecting flight with the same airline? since you went out during your layover, did u have to collect your checked-in baggages from your previous flight before you got out of the airport?
im going to have a layover in haneda airport >8hrs so im looking for options, if i would need to pick up &.lug around my checked in baggages during the layover if i decide to go out.

Yes I had a connecting flight with the same airline on the same reservation. The airline will keep the luggage for you at the airport during your layover. Just double check with them when your check in

@@linhforthehuynh I booked my flight w/ JAL thru their website so my connecting flight is also on the same reservation as my 1st leg so it is a relief that i dont have to collect my checked in luggages if i do decide to leave the airport during my layover. Yay! Thank you very much. =)

no the customs line might be long but nothing wrong leaving and coming back to the airport

I spent that same amount here in America, but of course it had a side of rice, a salad and drink. I thought that was a pretty average number for sushi. I get to Sushi by itself only $12.
