    Just one more testing would be awesome. I would like to know if you use 11mm f1.8 in full frame mode, use clear image zoom to around 16mm to eliminate the dark corner. And then compare the bokeh in the background and see how that compare to Super 35 crop mode with 11mm F1.8. I wonder if the full frame mode actually give you more bokeh in the background if both test at F1.8. Perhaps need to focus on something very close in order to see the background bokeh though...

    How can I fix the vignetting 11 mm makes? 🤔 I’m using it on a Zony ZV E1 plus using dinamic active stabilization. It does eliminate almost all the vignetting, but sometimes it appears while vlogging or while I move to much the camera

    • @MichaelNgvyen
      @MichaelNgvyen  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey tiofrank! Unfortunately you can’t fully in camera. It also happens to me if I move it around fast. In editing I just zoom in. 5 times 10 percent and it gets rid of it. Gives you a 13mm-14mm look. I used this method in my Teufelsberg video and it looks great imo. Sound like you have a really great compact setup. You must be really liking it? But yeah thanks for watching and reaching out in the comments. Hope my answer helps.

    Thank you for showing us what this lense can do. I often think whether to go for this lense 11mm or the 10-20mm lense because knowing that both have some degree of cropping involved as you get wider and both works differently. however both are different lenses offering different outcome results.
    Seeing this in 11mm full frame, activation on and off including the APS mode gives a good idea how some areas arent too bad with the 13mm result but not so good in 11mm due to the outer corners,vignette and distortion.
    As you mentioned, great for real estates, something I plan to add to my gear. Right now I cant justify the 12-24mm G Master II Sony.
    With this lense, it is definitely going to be trial and error post production but the price as it is for us is around 600 USD. That price alone is heart break. I'd buy it in a heart beat if it was 300-400 USD but 600 USD isnt far off from a 12-24mm F4 G lense. It's crazy.
    I'm fighting with myself on final-decision making because even travelling on plane, you cant bring that many lenses and you shouldnt either. Thanks again for providing this perspectives and showing it live how it morphed and changed. sometimes seeing it in action rather than someone editing too much out of the video makes it sometimes hard to see the comparison. Every photo looks kind of good but until you see the differences, you can see it noticable.
    👍

    • @MichaelNgvyen
      @MichaelNgvyen  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey WM. Thanks for the very insightful comment and your thoughts on the topic. I really appreciate it. One other thing I would add is that you mentioned the 12-24mmG and G master. However they work different since they are already full frame so in 4k60 on the A7iv it becomes 18-36mm. While the 11mm is only 16mm so it can work in 4k24p giving you about 12/13mm or 4k60 (16mm)and still be wide enough for real estate etc. Since I also have considered what you mentioned before purchasing the 11mm I thought I would mention it. I saw Amazon US is selling the 11mm right now for $498 so that is a okay price IMO There might be a link in my bio if you decide you want the lens. Hope that helps. Thanks again for watching and see you around the channel! Cheers

    I’d like to see this lens with active stabilization plus the 10% upscale vs the Sony 14mm 1.8 GM.

    • @MichaelNgvyen
      @MichaelNgvyen  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Field of view I think the look might be similar however the lens is too big imo and theres no threading to add filters, specifically ND’s. However, I think the image quality would be superior but not for 2.5 times the price. And the 11 mm has the little trick that it can battle the 1.5 times crop for Sony cameras that have the 4K60 crop. Like on the A7iv. Make it 16mm. But the 14mm GM suddenly becomes 21. And even tighter with active. But I think I will actually grab the 14 GM to test it out because a lot of people have been asking me about that comparison. Thanks for watching man and appreciate you leaving a comment.

    Hey man! Great video! I am really in between Viltrox 13mm f1.4 vs Sony 11mm f1.8 for my fx 30.
    I am looking for video shooting mostly(like ancient ruins, zoo, jungle, hiking, church, streets animals) and some photos here and there. I am also going to shoot talking head videos in door. I am also planning to use 4k 120fps option in Fx30 which has 1.5 more crop on top of apsc crop!
    I need to know 3 important aspects about these lenses!
    1- f1.8 vs f.1.4 How big of the difference especially for low light in door recordings with my fx30! I am bit worried about sensor being apsc and underperforms in low light. So should i really prioritize 1.4 over 1.8? I have done some research and find out 1.4 lets almost 2 times amount light than 1.8!
    2- I am really worried about distortion that sony 11mm has. I know we can use in camera corrections on fx30 body! But for me while shooting talking head i dont want my face to look weird because of extreme wide angle and distortion! Is it a problem with sony lens? Also while shooting some historical places i would not want to see curved lines!
    3- I am a bit worried about viltrox 13mm image quality! Sony looks way better, much punchier, much sharper and it is also a native lens for fx30! Also both lenses are same price in my country! Should i value that sony is native, have better focusing performance and same price with viltrox or should i go for viltrox and give up from that 2 mm but get brighter aperture and less distorted but less punchy and less sharp image quality with viltrox!
    Thanks in advance!

    • @MichaelNgvyen
      @MichaelNgvyen  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey man! I have no experience with the Viltrox so I will speak about the Sony 11mm only.
      I’ll address your main concern first.l, the distortion. For video I don’t have any issues with that. I have a few vlogs and have also shot some talking heads and not an issue. Pictures have a bit but easily corrected. With the really really good fast AF and fantastic image quality, I would pick that over have Viltrox 1.4. The lens is so wide anyways. Im not sure if 1.4 would make a huge difference. But I also shoot with the A7iv and have good iso performance. Not sure how it is with the fx30. Hope that gives you good insight on the Sony 11. Thanks for watching!

    I would have liked to see what the full frame in 4k 60 is. I think if i bought a ff camera i would like to use use a lense to its full potential, i see in the sony website that its a 35mm in a ff equivalent, im assuming thats what the crop does. Its nice that it works but there is defiently distortion on the edges.

    • @MichaelNgvyen
      @MichaelNgvyen  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Angel, On the Sony A7iv it is not possible to use FULL FRAME in 4K60. You can only use it in the CROP MODE aka (APSC mode) sometimes they also call it Super35 mode. The lens is a APSC lens so even though it says 11mm, but the lens is actually 16.5mm in 35mm FF equivalent. A lot of people are getting this lens for the Sony A7iv so they can get the 16.5mm look in 4K60 for Slo mo. In this video I was showing another way to use the lens and how to get an extra wide look in full frame mode.(4k24). The distortion only happens in Full frame mode and well this lens wasn't meant for that. just a fun way to use it and get a different look. But yeah thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Hopefully that all made sense.

      Will this lense automaticaly shoot in crop mode when put on the IV? Or can i use the fullframe mode but it will show the endges like you showed? I want to get this lense but it really isnt a 11mm equivalen on the a7iv correct? Because what i mean is that i need a wide angle lens that if a true 11mm used in fullframe. Because if that was the case i would rather get the equivalent of this lense in full frame original form. Which you said its about 16mm?

    In full frame mode, the image can warp/wobble and look like jello if there is any kind of movement like vlogging, so I'm not sure if it's a great option. It looks great in static shots though.

    • @MichaelNgvyen
      @MichaelNgvyen  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have shot a full moving/walking and talking vlog with it and there is not a lot of wobble or warp. The biggest concern is actually a bit of vignetting that shows up in up shots. Easily fixed though. Hope that insight helps you. And thanks for your input. Appreciate you watching

      @@MichaelNgvyen I think the key words are "not a lot of", but it's there. Maybe my eye is just really sensitive to it, but it looks horrible to me. With a bit more motion, it's very pronounced.
      I don't understand why spend $2k on good video camera and then cripple it with jello/wobble, loss of functionality like dynamic stabe, hinder the sophisticated image processor that usually removes many artefacts like this, but it just can't work correctly with an APS-C lens.
      Forget the vignette, the vignette you can fix, everything else, you cannot, even with heavy cropping (with non static shots that is). But the amount of crop you need to do, you're also losing a fair bit of resolution too.
      There are cheap options like the Samyang 18mm F2.8, Sigma 17mm F4, etc. I personally think this has far too many drawbacks, but that's just my opinion - it clearly works for a lot of people :)

    Hey, first of all. great video! I have multiple questions to ask.
    1) I have been using my sony a7III for almost 5 years doing company event support, travel and product unboxing on my channel. I lately felt like switching to a7IV thinking the higher megapixel will give me a better photos if I go travel around the world again as I wanted to polish my port folio. I don't do freelance large events at all at this point. Do you think I should keep my a7III and spend my money to get an fx30 for the 10bit and having a B-cam while doing unboxing? Is a7IV higher megapixel be a lot better compare to a7III lower megapixel?
    2) or should I just upgrade to a7IV and continue to be the hybrid shooter and maybe get a second hand zve-10 as B-cam?
    3) I would love to see the a7IV with Tamron 11-20 f2.8 as well, So i don't have to spend a lot of money for Sony 16-35 GM.

    • @MichaelNgvyen
      @MichaelNgvyen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Nelson, firstly thanks for watching! Ok so my first gut reaction is to say you should get the fx30. Since you wint shoot corporate photos and just the ones for travel and products the A7iii is still perfect. it hard to see the difference between the 24 and 33. Unless you realy pixel peep. But the fx30 will support your videos need better and greatly be improved from the a7iii. With 10bit and 4k60 being the biggest factor. So in short. Use fx30 for video and a7iii for pictures. Plus if you’re in a pinch you can still get 26mp from the fx30. I’ve also though about the zve10, but I dunno if i can go back to 8bit and no s-cinetone. Hope that helps you and hope to see you around the channel more. Let me know what you end up deciding on!

On the A6700 it would be 16mm and with active stabilization it would still about 18mm. Think the Sigma 16 is too tight, But another great option for you is the Sigma 10-18 2.8 gives you wide options and then paired with your kit lens you have a big range of focal lengths. Sigma 10-18 if you want some flexibility or Sony 11 of you want more lowlight capability. Hope that helps. Cheers

      Hi Rach. If you are using the Sony A7iv, when the APSC / crop mode is activated. It simply crops in on the sensor. It doesn’t affect the 4k resolution. The camera shoots in APSC automatically when you set it to 4k 60fps. But in 4k 24fps or 30. You can toggle to be full frame or apsc mode. @@lb_projekt well I appreciate the insight. Honestly sometimes I don’t mind the vignetting for some vlogging type content. The 11mm is the perfect size for the ZVe1. I really want that camera! Appreciate your thoughts and input. Thanks for watching the video! Cheers!

    does this work with photo as well? or it only works with 4k 24p and 30p?

    • @MichaelNgvyen
      @MichaelNgvyen  ปีที่แล้ว

      Mainly just for video in 24p and 30p, because you need the active stabilization to get rid of the vignette. But in theory. You could take a photo and crop out the vignetting in lightroom/photoshop to give you a wide look for your photo. But much easier to just buy a Fullframe 12mm lens. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment Hug. Cheers!

      Yes, buy a full-frame lens like Sony 15mm f1.8 GM.

    • @MichaelNgvyen
      @MichaelNgvyen  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Ömer. Yes you can but you still have to crop in a little bit. Just like the examples in the video. Just use it in full frame mode. If you’re using it the Sony a7iii you can zoom in 20 percent in post. Or with the a7iv turn on active stabilization and then zoom in 10 percent in post. You will get about a 13mm equivalent look. Hope that helps!

      @@MichaelNgvyen so i can not use these settings on sony a 7 iii that you made , so if i use it in full frame mode i have to crop it i understand that , but i dont want to crop it on post producton to be honest , if i chose setting on camera apsc mode with this lens , am i right that i will get a almost 16mm lens ? Because if its like that it is fair enough for me bacause the price range and quality is really looks nice👍🏽

      @MichaelNgvyen  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@omerbulbul8185 if you put the lens on the sony A7iii it will automatically give you 16mm look, yes. No black corners and you dont need to crop. If you want to get even wider. Just put your A7ii back into full frame mode. And you can use clear image zoom and zoom in a little bit in camera to get rid of the black corners that will give you 13mm look. With basically no loss in quality.

    • @MichaelNgvyen
      @MichaelNgvyen  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey universeofsound! Unfortunately you cant with the fx30 because its a crop sensor. The hack Only with the full frame Sony’s. (Fx3, a7iv etc. ). But you have a really dope camera! How do you like it? Thanks for watching and leaving a comment man!

    Great video and especially great sound. Would you pick the 11mm apsc over the the 20mm full frame version and why?

    • @MichaelNgvyen
      @MichaelNgvyen  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey thank you! Im always so self conscious about the sound. So really appreciate the comment. I own both so it depends. The 11 gives you the 16mm look in 4k60 for slo mo since the A74 crops. Thats the main reason I got it. But the bonus is you can use it to go extra wide. But the 20 has superior image quality. So if I had to pick one it would be the 20mm you just have to be mindful of how wide you need. Appreciate you watching !

    • @MichaelNgvyen
      @MichaelNgvyen  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yep it does! The only big difference is in full frame mode. You have to crop/zoom in a bit with either clear image zoom or in post, because the a7iii doesn’t have active stabilization. Hope that helps you! Appreciate your time!

    • @MichaelNgvyen
      @MichaelNgvyen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Zaur. Both are such great camera's! A good problem I guess LOL. If you are strictly video. I think the fx30 could be great. It does have the 4k120 an advantage if you shoot a lot of slo mo. But if you also want to take some picture I think the A7iv is a no brainer.. Th EVF is a much better way to see focus and sharpness and especially in super sunny conditions. I also like that you kind of have two sensor size options with the crop mode! BUT No wrong choice I would say. Let me know what you end up decided on! Thanks for finding my channel. Cheers man!

    • @MichaelNgvyen
      @MichaelNgvyen  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Scott! I think the 10-20 is really quite good. I know someone who uses it. You can get a lot of different wide and medium wide options in both apsc mode and full frame mode. If you shoot often in low light situations. That might be the only slight draw back! Thanks for comment Scott!

      Hey thanks David! Well yes it does! A bit different. When you put on the lens it pits you in apsc mode. But just put it back in full frame mode and You have to use clear image zoom and zoom in to about 1.2 or 1.3. (You dont have to do this reaaly with the a7iv because of active stabilization.) And it will get rid of the vignetting! It will give you the 12.1 or 13mm look. Works for video and jpeg photos. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching man!

    • @MichaelNgvyen
      @MichaelNgvyen  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not in video. Quality is the same. And I find same goes for photos. And yes, it’s not a full frame lens so when you’re taking photos, the mega pixels are reduced. But on my Sony7iv the megapixels is still 14.5. So I find that quality more than enough, especially for social media.
