Hey hey it’s me! Thanks for the shoutout - I just record internally for weddings so having the info on screen is more useful - sorry if I’ve confused more people haha
I enjoy your videos because they are entertaining while presenting very useful information. Even the intra-video advertisement was entertaining which is pretty amazing. I didn't even skip it. Thanks!
Thanks for the tips, there a lot to learn with my new equipment. I have the FX3 and the Alpha 7R IV, I had some issues updating the firmware.. It also has the menu across the top, its the old setup.. Keep the videos coming!
It's the first video where I've actually enjoyed the ad segment, and that says alot with this also being the video with the heaviest ad-focus I've seen - just really well done, and shows the power of the AI voice tool while also adding fun to the video. Very informative video - saved it for when I get a Sony Camera :)
Just got an A7RV. Figuring out which buttons should get which settings is quite complicated. I'd love to have a complete list of every function that can be put on a button, divided by those that need to be held down to function, and those that are settings that stay changed. With the FN screen, and My Menu, and many of the buttons, there's plenty of places for the ones that don't need to be held down while shooting. BUT there are only 3 that can be easily held down while you're also holding the shutter button. (AF-ON, AEL, and maybe one on a lens). I have changed them several times already and would like to know ALL of the options. I know that's a lot to ask. Thanks dude!
As always Jason, I really good Video and I like the fact you understand that not Sony users know these tricks. I really liked the Grayscale one however I realise that when you’re in memory recall 1,2 & 3 you can’t use this technique I wonder if there’s a way around it.
Dude I had Tip 5 for all NTSC but when I went to shoot in the EU I never did it for PAL so huge huge time for viewers do what Jason suggested even in PAL for those who may shoot in the EU. Cant hurt! Thanks dude your content is amazing... 🙏🏼🎥
I’ve forgotten to hit the record button on some Timelapse work, fortunately never too long, but I’d love if they’d have the tally light on when shooting intervals! Hopefully getting a 2.0 menu system camera soon!
I believe it should be off if you use external monitor to record on it, because it with record everything you see on display like menus and settings. Just test it beforehand to make sure. Without external video recorder it doesn't matter if it is on or off.
I started recording on the Ninja and have a hard drive half full. When I saw your vid, I almost had a heart attack, The HDMI display was set to ON. However, when I loaded the footage into Premiere, there was no overlay. Maybe I had set something on the Nina NOT to record the info. I vaguely recall that i set the display to ON because I wanted to see info on the Ninja monitor. Anyway, I didn't have a heart attack.
@@JasonVong Yes sir. I thought that I had accidentally zonked the footage, but none of the overlay info was recorded onto the Ninja. It might be a different setting that makes the recording bake the display info. Anyway, I am extremely happy with the 12-bit Prores Raw. I will soon be getting a second Ninja.
Tip 2: Actually just shoot raw. If you're doing portraits or something take a reference with the cap or your neutral gray card, but white balance doesn't matter if you're shooting raw because you can set it in post. I think the first tip should be: Just shoot in raw. Tip 6 doesn't work in RAW, but there is super 35 which does work in RAW at a hit to the overall MP (but if you're shooting in like 60mp it's totally fine go wild).
One of the most annoying Sony bugs is that you can't set a custom white balance on any custom preset modes like 1,2 & 3. I only use these modes because I have all my favorite settings saved and can never capture a custom white balance. Any tips or workarounds?
@@chrismccathern4653Sure looks like taking photos with this clearimagezoom feature here. I'm not talking about video. Clear image zoom only works when shooting photos in JPG mode
That's what I thought too, with my A6700. But I was in "stills." I I moved to video on the selector wheel and went back through the menu and there it was. This is really important. I wear glasses and the little record/standby indicator isn't always really obvious.
My best tip is to 95% of the time not to bother with S&Q. Instead shoot overlay that you might slow down in post in the native high frame rates. You can still slow your footage down in post but it leaves you with the option of running your clips at normal speed with audio. Audio can be invaluable when telling a story.
Hey Jason I have a question, I realize that when I play back my video footage through my field monitor I don’t hear any sound, even tho I see the sound displays moving in the monitor… the volume on the monitor is turned up so I’m lost as to why I’m not hearing it… also when I bring my footage in post, sound plays just fine… any advice here? Also artist ad was top tier👌
As a person with red/green colorblindness, I wish Sony would give us options BESIDES RED for the "Emphasized REC Display"--like they do with the focus peaking color. I appreciate that this feature exists, but I'd rather the box was blue or yellow or...just about anything but red and green. Because I really can't see the red box, so it's not much help to me. The same with all the battery chargers that switch from red to green when the battery is charged. I often cannot tell them apart! (SAD FACE EMOJI)
Too bad the custom white balance does not work when you are using Custom mode dials 1.2.3 on the A7IV. SO stupid Sony does not fix this option. And I imagine Version 2.0 is Not for the A7IV. Is that just for the Fx3 and FX30 or ZV models? Seems they could make that an option for the A7IV.
There's a really annoying setting that Sony cameras always set to ON on default, it's the face priority in multi metering, in manual mode if recording a person with this setting on and that one turn their head or just move around a bit, video instantly getting darker like 1 stop darker, so frustrating with this one but it took me like months to find the problem, wewww, it was a pain right in the cheek, now I always remember to turn this gabbage setting to Off everytime I get a new Sony camera.
yeah, great advice, because about one in a million of us are into recording pro-res raw to external storage... and they people shouldn't be left out. Click!
Clear image zoom sounds great except that it is too restrictive. No, movie, can't use cont. shooting, face detection, RAW... Sorry, I didn't pay all this money for a camera just to shoot a jpeg.
Best sponsor segment ever. BTW, I love the long haired white balance guy. He seems awesome
kinda looks like someone I know but can't quite figure it out... 🤔
Mark Bennett should take notes from the long haired white balance guy.
First ad I’ve not just skipped through. I really like this series. Keep em coming
Hey hey it’s me! Thanks for the shoutout - I just record internally for weddings so having the info on screen is more useful - sorry if I’ve confused more people haha
This ad was super creative hahaha
My goodness, it actually was lol
by creative you mean annoying, right?
Always appreciate actual ad integrations, respect.
I enjoy your videos because they are entertaining while presenting very useful information. Even the intra-video advertisement was entertaining which is pretty amazing. I didn't even skip it. Thanks!
thanks Stuart!!

Woah the lens cap tip is gold worth!!! Especially for people using their Camera for streaming or webcams. Thanks a bunch!!

Camera body cap tip foe White balance was good.

Do you recommend recording to a separate video recorder as you record to the SD Card in the camera? Always appreciate your videos, thank you.
Hi JV, Would you do a video of your function button and what you have in there? For the 2.0 new sony menu
The Artlist ad got me rolling 😂Well done! Thanks for the tips, Jason! NOW GO CRY TO VIVIEN.
As always Jason, I really good Video and I like the fact you understand that not Sony users know these tricks. I really liked the Grayscale one however I realise that when you’re in memory recall 1,2 & 3 you can’t use this technique I wonder if there’s a way around it.
Sony should add a "emphasize super 35mm crop" setting too because I constantly forget if I'm punched in or not lol (maybe orange boarder)
Dude I had Tip 5 for all NTSC but when I went to shoot in the EU I never did it for PAL so huge huge time for viewers do what Jason suggested even in PAL for those who may shoot in the EU. Cant hurt! Thanks dude your content is amazing... 🙏🏼🎥
OMG I haven't even thought to do it for PAL too! Thanks for pointing that out!
Even better video than usual, if that's possible! Great video with the voices, etc.
I’ve forgotten to hit the record button on some Timelapse work, fortunately never too long, but I’d love if they’d have the tally light on when shooting intervals! Hopefully getting a 2.0 menu system camera soon!
Sony lens/body cap tip is priceless! Thanks Jason.
The bit rate setting on different mode was something I didn’t know! Thanks for the tips!
friend when you rec a wedding in a church can you tell which option is the best for focus?
Great video. Love the advert also.
Cheers much, your hard work and lots of info, is much appreciated 😊❤
So I’m confused with tip #1 do I leave HDMI Display On or Off?
I believe it should be off if you use external monitor to record on it, because it with record everything you see on display like menus and settings. Just test it beforehand to make sure. Without external video recorder it doesn't matter if it is on or off.
Off!
Always looking forward to your new videos! Just got my new a7Cii and your videos are so helpful in setting it up!🙌🏾
congrats on the a7C II! Hope your enjoying it!
Great job on the video Jason! Thanks for making it. That ad read was great too.
Does all this tips counts to fuji cameras except the camera sensor cap tip?!
What's the difference WB off 18% grey vs white in ambient light?
Tip 4....YES!!!!!! We've done that school boy error a few times!

And you said you were recording to the Atomos and not directly to the SD card in camera right? Phew!
@@JasonVong Yes sir. I thought that I had accidentally zonked the footage, but none of the overlay info was recorded onto the Ninja. Sir while using 10 bit cam do you really need external monitor.....# jus asking
At least with Sony, if you want to do other codecs like ProRes RAW, an external recorder like an Atomos would be the only way
Brilliant session Jason, very very entertaining.
This sponsor placement is just genius
The lens cap tip did it for me 🐐

Just a note, ClearImage zoom doesn't work at all when shooting in RAW mode. At least not on my A7iii
Raw? Video isn't shot in RAW
@@chrismccathern4653Sure looks like taking photos with this clearimagezoom feature here. I'm not talking about video. Clear image zoom only works when shooting photos in JPG mode
@@chrismccathern4653he's shooting a photo talking about clearimage zoom. Not video. It doesn't work when shooting photos in raw mode. Just jpg
My zve 10 which is on the 1.0 system has the red marker around the screen
Thanks for letting me know!
The Emphasized Rec Display is missing on my A7CR menu. Any thought?
That's what I thought too, with my A6700. But I was in "stills." I I moved to video on the selector wheel and went back through the menu and there it was. This is really important. I wear glasses and the little record/standby indicator isn't always really obvious.
As Craig suggested, make sure to be in video mode first!

The lens cap gray card tip is the first time I've heard about it (somehow), really great tip

Best ad segment ever😂 and good video tips too.
HDMI info display is ON BY DEFAULT on the A6700! Was planning on the Atomos Ninja 5 sometime this year. Thanks for saving my bacon!
haya can you do a playlist about sony (film simultion)
been have watching you since i bought a sony last year
unable to find the "Emphasized REC Display" setting on my A6400. what am i missing or doing wrong? 🤔 somebody pls help. 🙏
thanks in adv.
looks like it has got to do something with the 1.0 vs 2.0 menu settings? 🤨🙁
Jason you‘re a great advertiser !
AWESOME tips and AWESOME video!!! THANK YOU!🎉🎉🎉🎉
thanks for always watching, Helen!
This was a super helpful video, thanks!
Great video Jason! Very smart way to advertise!!

Sony has been adding a lot of different accessibility features lately so hopefully that's also something on their radar.
I feel ya!
You produce great videos. One point. Sony refers to what you call a briefcase the toolbox.
Please create a video how to upgrade the ZV-E1 to version 2.
Easy bro :
Step 1 . Grab your wallet
Step 2 . Take the credit card out
Step 3. Use the phone order online
Done easy
Amazing ad and amazing video🔥😂
No 30fps in xavc hs 4k on my a6700 :-/
I already here enough strange voices in my head as it is. No need to add a bunch more strange voices to your video.
Tips are great, but you have the best Artlist voiceover AI ad so far 😂😂
everytime I use sony lens cap for WB I get green screen error. Why is that?
Love the tips esp as a Sony alpha owner…and the humor!
Watching from Ghana 🇬🇭
Man, Jason Vong is awesome.
Never had i ever before rewatched the ad section of a video😂😂😂
haha thank you!!
Im new user and ur videos are great jason
Vong's multiple personalities just got real
Nice one Jason. 📸😂
I wish you would have explained the zoom setting more and that it doesn't work with shooting RAW...
Ah yes these tips are more catered to video mode than for photo mode. Clear Image Zoom works with JPEG only in photo mode.
I really like the info you provide! Thank you
I’ve seen plenty of Artist ads this is the only one that made me want to buy it lol
Time to give it up my man. That Panasonic Lumix GH7 IS IT!!!!!!

If things are wrong, I go to the Vong. If I need to smile, I stay a while.
🥰
That yellow menu tab... Sony named this "toolbox" not briefcase.
White balance with the body and lens caps blew my mind (ノ*0*)ノ
Tip 1 for NinjaV users: The HDMI Info. Display ruined all my B-Roll once. Very annoying.
Jason Vong Or Potato Jet?

"So many voices!"
