There's a lot of metal that I feel is a bit embarrassing even if you don't take yourself too seriously but Gojira has always felt like some sort of "grown-up" metal. One of my favorites and one of the most recognisable bands out there.
Who is gonna make you happy, if you don't? Is it more "grown up" to just be yourself, or to worry about if you've grown into someone others are happy with? My stepdaughters father once told me he used to like heavy metal but, he decided it was "time to grow up". Now he listens to country music. Only in the background, because he doesn't really enjoy it. I told him that I've loved the heavier music since I was a kid. I know who I am and I don't care if people don't approve of my choices in music. I also told him relationships built on what you think others want you to be, aren't lasting relationships. Be yourself. If others choose to judge who you are, based on what music you like, f@ck em. Explain, (if you must) that you don't fake who you are. You're "grown up" enough to be real. All that said, I do still understand where you are coming from.
