“A selfie was the most embarrassing thing you could do.” Man I feel that cause I’m almost 40
Hahahaha
It’s wild to think that they’re that old too, I got into there older stuff after listening to LDA and it’s all brilliant, I’m so excited for tonight
Gawd, as a millennial that's a feeling I've always felt but didn't put words to. Like I could never understand Zoomers and the self-promo thing or why I found it so cringe. But now that they've said it I finally understand those feelings!!!!
I’m 42… selfies have always been cringe 😬 and I witnessed the birth of the internet
I gotta say I was pretty skeptical entering this video but the interviewer really did a good job with the boys, she made the homework which is rare for this kind of tv hosts
I think you’re thinking of daytime talk show hosts, but yes she did a great job. Usually ABC News is very professional when it comes to any interview.
"I imagine you're excited about Loss of Life..." - hahaha!
I love how they laughed at that hahahaha
The joke went unappreciated
They just like to release something as artists. Promotion is futile. This album feels totally like they are relaxed and aren’t promoting MGMT whatsoever, smart move, because they are smart guys definitely always have been
I appreciated it!@@JaytheOlivier
they're incredible. I love MGMT. This interviewer did them justice thank you!
that "independent label" is working a lot harder than Columbia did for them getting them on ABC prime time!
Couldn't agree more. Go ask Nas how horrible Columbia is.
She tried really hard. I commend her. This is so random and awkward, but I love them.
She did good! With what she had to work with lol. Love me some MGMT
I think this is the first appearance Andrews forehead has ever made.
The last time we’ve seen it was in the Alien Days music video 😹
@@madiclark5032this is hilarious
I’m dead 💀
makes a rare appearence, some people even say it doesn't exist, but here we are.
😂
awwwwh i miss these guys and their weird ass interviews. never change! cant wait to have the album on repeat
these two changed my life! mgmt forever
Amazing band. If you get a chance to see them live, go!
Growing up taking a selfie is one of the most embarrassing things you can do. Indeed.
This is so random. I love them!
Thank you miss for extracting the answers we all secretly were hoping for. And thank you Ben and Andrew for changing my life for the better every time you come back ❤
Ben looks like a CNN correspondent back from an assignment
Nathan Fielder on Canadian TV type of energy
Andrew Is perfect and a kind man!
as awkward as usual, i love it
The first three singles are incredible
The 4 th one is awful
Which is why the album as a whole is very disappointing.
@@mojopin1997Agree, that song goes nowhere until the very end.
@@mojopin1997I’d argue it’s quite majestic, chill. Bassline’s quite good
MGMT...on ABC News? I am proud....I am so very proud 🎉
I am extremely proud. They finally made it. 🦾
I have been a fan since I was 16. I'm now 31. MGMT 4Ever 🩵
I really hope they announce a tour soon
The only band I wait for new songs to have the pleasure to discover beautiful sounds and arrangements in each song. Multi-genre mosaics of contemporary music (well, mgmcm...lol)
Have you listened to King Gizzard?
@@TheGrilledCheeseManOC Yes!! I've forgotten to mention them. They deserve the same adjectives! The balance: King Lizzard, more musical skills! MGMT, more beautiful musical subtetlies.
My youth, just few years ago. 😢😅 Love MGMT. I'm glad they have a new album. ❤
If anyone reading this hasnt heard of this band, check this album out. People in the streets is my favorite
I love them. They are truly amazing artists and i can’t wait to experience the rest of the album. She did leave one biiiig question out. Will there be a tour announcement following the album drop? 😮
I love these two men.
Holding it together for under 4 minutes as Linsey Davis brings it.
Love these boys
We should celebrate art and music on the news more often. not just promo stuff but just lil interviews and such.
This is so weird. Love mgmt
Great guys, great artists
It's a hopeful and optimistic album called Loss of Life. lol
There’s no doubt she’s a fan. But maybe 2008, not 2007. 2009 is honestly when they really were well known. Congratulations came out in 2010 and divided fans but the end of the decade before had them in high regard. 2018’s Little Dark Age was another classic album. Love this band.
no no, Kids was already blowing up in the underground way before Oracular Spetacular released, Kids is from 2005 and they played it live multiple times + released demo versions of it independently + had released and sold time to pretend EP before, which sold well because of Kids and Time to Pretend
@@AndreLuiz-zf6wq maybe at some NE colleges. Not in Miami. Late 2008, early 2009 honestly.
@@GetAsCloseAsYouCan yea here in brazil too, its mostly a 2009 song for me
but it was definetely goin around before
I love how normal they are. Zero media training, 100% endearing
This album is so good
Love the album
Greatest band!!!
The album is beyond perfect. Start to finish.
They play their album during my Sunday school meetings.
How has this just flown under the radar
I just posted this in the mgmt reddit fandom forum
Lol MGMT on mainstream media? What is happening??Been a fan since I was in high school circa 2008 and these guys always make me smile. The new album is a bop.
Andrew looking like a young robert smith
Andrew looks like a kid being questioned by police and he is unsure about talking without his parents
Mis dos papás 😍
Haha great interview - she like my grandma interviewing. loved it
Like number One Thousand! Yesss❤
Love yall! 💕
Record is Out today, got it from Tidal in the highest sound quality.
"I imagine youre excited about Loss Of Life"
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA 😂😂😂
I've been a huge fan of these two since 2006...18 years ago, which is nuts to consider.
Their very first EP, which had both Time To Pretend and Kids in it, was so obviously something new and excellent the moment I listened to it back then. There's like 4 other songs that are JUST as good...Indie Rokkers alone is genius as a song. They've always been great, got *_SUPER_* famous for like 2 years...and then it was back to them remaining true to how they started off this whole music thing.
I'm 41 now...and have been a huge huge fan since day 1, remained one when the entire world utterly embraced them for a glorious 2 years, and remained one ever since. Not loving everything always...but still loving everything. Oracular Spectacular is a genius album. The uber fans _love_ shouting out Congratulations, and fair enough. But for me, OS is _the_ MGMT album for good reason. It's perfect. Just...perfect. It's very weird and creative and ambitious and catchy all at once. It's like 2 musical geniuses thought it would be hilarious to make the perfect album...and actually succeeded. That is fascinating and beautiful to me. I'm very excited to dive into this new album....
Yes lads!
Oh wow!!!
Mgmt are nice this album is refined and it’s very human not going for anything very catchy or single driven just straight artistry,
It took them years to really come into their own in a relaxed sort of way
Like most bands just got old and lost their edge
Incredible album. The 1st couple songs are so good I’ve still yet to get to the bottom half of the album
This is hilarious them being on abc news
Genius band. S-tier. Better at this point than many classic bands like REM
I agree they're modern day Beatles or the Kinks. These guys will go down as the greatest psychadelic rockers of the modern era forget Tame Impala
Kind of random to say they’re better than REM lol. I’d personally rather listen to REM but i like both bands for completely different reasons. I guess both bands are vaguely what you’d call “alternative music” but that is pretty much where the similarities end.
They are very talented but I think you exaggerate when you say they are better than REM. They have a long way to go to get there.
@@rabidgoonunsure as to why you feel the need to say ‘better’. I think they’re good but, vastly different bands.
@@SuperSaglow i’m not the one who said it, the OP did. I just responded.
Possibly the best interview I’ve ever seen
They’re doing it right
a rare candid interview ok
I love these two hahaha
They very well succeeded!
Lol gotta love two hardcore hippies explaining themselves to an ABC journalist
MGMT is always a change up from their last album 😂 CANT WAIT TO HEAR THIS ALBUM
Just when you think ABC can't get any better!
MGMT and Vampire Weekend albums this year!?!? What is it 2010? Not complaining btw
STRFKR is good too
I had no intention of ever looking at mainstream media again but I made an exception for MGMT.
Yeah feels like the Twilight Zone.
they’re so awkward i love it
Riding on your tank like you own it😅
2007 all over again (it rhymes)
Nice
I am 100% convinced either one or both of them are high as hell
Or just awkward. They are known for that 😂🩵😎
I mean it’s the dudes from Mgmt… on ABC… what would you expect?
They are 100% sober.
Lol I think they’re just like this. Permastoned.
What makes you think that?
❤
They look like normal guys
Andrew be aging like fine wine. Is he a dad? Bc it is humid now, but if he is a dad, it's full-on precipitation..
:(
idk why this comment creeps me out
this lady the next Nardwuar, she all knowing
This thumbnail was funny to see
THIS IS HALARIOUS 😂😂😂😂
god this was random .....
Lolol I feel they still trolling
Electric feel will never be outdone by anyone not even mgmt
Off the label! Congratulations!
And all I need is a great big..
More optimistic?? It sounds so bleak and dispirited. In a good way of course. But compared to Little Dark Age I struggle to find elements of the album optimistic or hopeful. There's a strong sense of resignation, down to the album art and the TH-cam playlists having 'MGMT' written in a formal font with plain grey colouring among a stark black background.
Andrew is slowly morphing into Tim Robbins
Ben said like 3 words 😂
Damn Andrew got a forehead
This is such an odd choice of interview platform for an indie band lol
ok but why is he daxflame lowkey?????
Indie Band on mainstream media, daytime interview, bright lights..sounds like a panic attack to me.
What is a "tick tock"?
She hasnt a scobby do who these lads are
Im on mushrooms too.
I get it
Cut to them dressed as monsters scaring a baby in a crib from the "Kids" music video.
Comfort is the last thing I feel listening to their other records, which sound like they were mastered through a meat grinder. Lay off the insane brick wall limiting and distortion maybe? Otherwise I really like their music
god they are awkward
They are like Minnenial Flaming Lips.....
Haha this is so bizarre - never would have expected to see these guys on ABC. So bizarre, awkward and funny
No social media. Good job,it was the start of a downfall.
Wtf are they doing this on here for 😂
this world is weird
Definitely high hahaha
Theyre not high. They’re awkward
