this is so MGMT. they have an album coming out TODAY and all they have as promotion is this mumbling 27minutes non-interview thingy to boost the release? brilliant
MGMT should just switch up the game next time by announcing a massive world tour and the day after the tour concludes drop a new album (not advertising or playing a single track at any point on the tour). Then proceed to not tour again for years. Wash-rinse-repeat.
Something like Damon Albarn did with Gorillaz 4th album "The Fall", he recorded and edited it all on his iPad while they were touring for their 3rd album "Plastic Beach" on October 2010 and released it on December 20th the same year. I've waiting years for a collab between Gorillaz and MGMT.
For everyone who is upset about "the wasted opportunity for an interview about the album" - firstly, the interview is fun and very MGMT. Secondly, the host Tom Scharpling conducted a one-hour Q&A with the guys during the live stream presentation of the album - that's where all the questions about favorite synths, song order, and Elden Ring were discussed
"Mother Nature" really has a "Transdermal Celebration" (Ween) vibe to me, which I love. Still it is a similarity that I can't put my finger on, so it might just be in my mind. LOVE this interview.

I love how the host (sorry don't know his name) from around 5 to 6 minutes, basically was like....I gotta say, this weed you two brought us, that we partook in, wow.... _wow._ I just had to point that out. There's something fun about all four of them, for 2 minutes, laugh about how good this **** is.
My dream is for MGMT to play arguably my favorite song of time I Love You Too, Death at my wedding one day. I would feel euphoric and beautiful while everyone else in attendance is just sad and confused.
I was so excited to watch this, when I saw the post on IG, but what even is this? This was so cringy to watch. And the “game, yeah meh and nah,” just stop. What a waste of my time. Poor Ben hardly even wants to talk. I wanted to hear about the album. Not the host talk most of the video. 😤😭😢
I absolutely love the Bubblegum Dog video (and the track too).... it's a work of absolute genius in my opinion. And for someone who was a teen in the 90s, all those video references really hit home.
I love how every MGMT interview gives the vibe that they are graciously yet reluctantly participating lmao

For those wondering, the couple interviewing them directed the Bubblegum Dog video

Being a huge fan from Brazil it makes me really sad that they dont plan on touring. Hope I ever get to see them live at least once.
WOW, Andrew is So handsome, seem's like he doesn't age, still look's the same to me, Very handsome.... - Lanna
I liked that video as a Mark Prokcsh fan.

You got two musical geniuses with a new album to sit down for an interview, and it was just wasted time with the dumb game
this was... uncomfortable.
That’s just their sense of humor

Agreed T Scharpling thinks hes bit of a genuis. Man he draws it out. It drains me listening to him.
From other interviews I've watched that just seems to be how Ben is normally in interviews.
My sister in Christ this is every mgmt interview. Andrew does most of the talking and Ben barely talks. It’s just their personalities
I’ve never seen Ben more involved in an itw lol
@@sasharose8950 why did you bring Jesus into this? 🥱🥱 yes I’m aware but I’ve seen Ben talk more b4
What a terrible interview. Who the hell is that guy?
The guy interviewer is trying way to hard to be funny, just ask the band questions and listen.
This video is a waste of everyone's time
I thought it was great! Love the chemistry they all have, super fun.

Was really hoping for something about the album at the end. Such a waste of time.
