Should the government not takes action against those managers who are frustrated from their childhood and always want to torture someone for no reason to satisfy their ego and frustration, they do harassment, bulley, targetting someone who is nice and kind just to scare rest of the people.why office politics exit bcoz it doesn't help company at all but it just satisfy the ego and frustration of manager, senior managers and rest of employee who are good in licking

As much as I like this comment, I know this does not work always if you want to live in this world i.e. sticking to your default nature of being gentle when situation demands you to be assertive and in the real world situations will demand you to be assertive many times. sad!

My 20 years in IT have taught me that productive outcomes come from finding the right balance between being nice and assertive. Being nice and approachable creates a positive work environment; co-workers and customers want to work with you, creating your brand value. While being assertive with clear communication sets strong boundaries that ensures no one tramples you over or takes unfair advantage of you.

Trust in your instincts, if being nice is in your nature, you don't have to change much, rather you have to identify who's taking advantage of you and make them stop taking it anymore. The world is an ugly place doesn't mean we have to be equally ugly to survive

@sathya same here , and there are millions like you. I think you cannot expect a solution because office politics will always remain for centuries n millieaum. If you consider office work as just a work which was present 100000 years ago as well in kings palace n workshop. This work politics gave birth to civilization countries caste creed n religion. So it's not going to go n lines will be drawn which will bring new communities n caste n religion. But being simple or apolitical may harm you physically mentally social however in eyes of the universal creater you will be the winner or I can see sikhandar. You will be the most fortunate in billions to reach or touch your godly soul residing in side u .. because you know the intrinsic interal path to soul which other will take 10 births to figure it out. So in that sense trust me during the time of your death people who been nice simple and sametime workoholic were happy leaving the world. Just keep doing as much you can forward your family, keep saying no atleast once a month if u can.

    5. Office politics
None of these taught in Engineering curriculam -- Instead all of these are very profound in POLITICS. Hence good IT employees should be from Politial background only

I am simple and nice but deep inside me, the most dangerous person. I survived many bad work places with dedication and fighter spirit. When it comes to corporate, all around me are temporary. I pick my fights and let go of many unnecessary conflicts. I use sometimes destruction tools to avoid pressure. I study people by monitoring them. I don't hurt anyone if he or she in their own and hard worker. I hate lazy people and who take advantages to climb the ladder easily. There's no mercy for weak people nowadays and its really about surviving. I never step back and ready to go to the extreme if i have to. I am good at my work but hard to control too. I work by my own and i never liked teamwork for many reasons related to work culture and mis-using the meaning of teamwork. I support the kind and simple people and attack indirectly the aggressive ones. Almost 17 years and the years ahead are coming. Respect and peace to all

Sometimes, it also helps just to write down your pointers and be better prepared before a call or a meeting on a piece of paper. Nice and simple people tend to struggle to put forward their work or thoughts at right time. A piece of paper or notes in your phone would help to build up confidence in initial phases.

nobody is too smart and clever. And self respect wont help you or anyone to earn or grow. Just learn not to react or sometimes just simply respond you are not comfortable. You are a peaceful soul. That is more important. And nring small change in your lifestyle. like mandir mein jana ya morning walk par. dont let emotions get you carried away. Always remember that you are not alone. Cry when it feels like crying. Be self compassionate. I am also going to be 34 and age is just a number. Dont create blockages in your mind. Be fearless. Very true, most people who succeed are the ones who do not agree with you on anything in a meeting, they will come in and say dont do it this way but not suggest how to do it. If asked they will say you are the expert on on how to get the job done. They are basically people who want to save there own skin. It happens more in India than in US and Europe, I see meaningless emails that have no value added to them. That is the sad reality (20 Years work ex). Also thats why tech people are asy to fire because you can easily blame them.

    I know why this happens..
There are 50 - 70 % people don't work properly or they may not be having the required knowledge even after having many years of experience..
They are always having fear inside that some nice guys may expose them to the management..
So they do all kind of politics to suppress the nice and talented guys..
They want to maintain their fake image at any cost- there comes the politics..
They will push the nice guys to work on unfamiliar area. . So that they can put pressure on nice and talented guys..
They want to get high pay with less work so they will kill anyone who don't know how to handle this kind of things.
This politics is there in every industry and in every companies in India.
Nice and talented guys are the targets for this politics..
IT Experience never teaches how to fix the issue effectively in short time..
It teaches how to extend the 1 day work as 1 week work or one month work.
Some guys makes the simple work a complex one just for their own benefits.

I have worked for 6 years in a small Product development company with 100 employees and then 9 years at American Airlines where I am a retiree and now 3 years at Wells Fargo - all in the USA and all in Perm positions. I have not played any politics. Just did my work and moved on. There were some conflicts at times but these were amicably sorted out. US Airways-American Airlines was the best place to work in my career, very good team/collegial environment and in fact my patience, collegial/amiable attitude, tenacity, were all valued here even though I was not so much technically suave like some of my co-developers.

That's the reason why the west invents and we are left to learn what they invent. Identifying talent is a special skill that a leader should possess. All the points you have identified are spot on and it shows the leaders can only judge based on outer behaviour. That's hollow and sad.

Thank you for your precise info about office politics and survival method....what i suggest is instead change your core character....why not join a work which is "Nice people" required...For example sales rep. or similar line.

I always believe that being nice & simple doesn't necessarily mean that someone can't be simultaneously smart, bold and tactful as well. It's all about balance and knowing when to shift gears in which particular situation.

    Nice guy finish last......
Stand up for yourself Guys no one is going to do that for you
Corpororate world is ruthless it acknowledges only who speak and visible rest go unnoticed and can become victim
Many times simple and nice persons are made scapegoats when things go wrong ex. no win for deals, bugs in software, project delay, mistakes in demos and presentation etc etc
When time comes for non perfomance simple and nice people are first to get fired and laid off.
Even if you are doing good and taking initiative your co worker who is working form long will not like and feel insecure due to you. He will point out your mistakes and communicate with your manager for your poor performance and mistakes ot of jelousy and insecurity.
Its very easy to point mistakes and blame rather than take initiative and start project.
This commonly happens in companies like syntel (Atos), Persistent systems as there are people sitting on chair for ages and insecure to proect job
For senior managment its easy to blame them, put them in PIP and then fire.

I can completely relate to it. I worked for 4 companies 2 out of it I got victimized to intense politics, 2 are not that much only good performance was enough.
But unless you really gone through it, you dont know how it is like. You need to either avoid such places or play the politics game.
The politics really gets intense when people dont have much work to do in their job. I have funny quote, "a project can be in development mode or maintenance mode or politics mode"

Life is not about climbing corporate ladder or picking name and fame.
Even one can't take his own body 😂😂
But by doing office politics they will for sure take tons of suffering with them.
Those who r on top of corporate have 1 thing in common.
Lick your seniors and kick your juniors or equals.
You never know how much mental suffering you gave to good persons.
    Live and let Live😊
Everything is temporary earning name, fame, wealth are all temporary.
Just never harm others for some personal benefit😢

Seeking mentorship and support is a double edged sword ⚔️ it works but it depends on the role you’re at. If you mid level seeking too much help or assistance can be considered as a red flag 🚩 and put you up for a performance review as well. If you’re mid level and have fumbled and not been much serious about your work, then be cautious at the same time don’t push blame get ready to take self accountability 100% if you’re entry level or associate then one can take mentorship and assistance from collegues and seniors at will 😊

I'm wondering why do many billionaires prefer to be simple if it has so many drawbacks with it?
Maybe it is because they know how to keep the credits for their work with them. They know how to own their impact and skill that they have.
